Octagonal gazebo on the plot: step by step construction. Gazebo with barbecue do-it-yourself

One of the best options organizing a place to relax, which will not only be convenient, but also decorate the summer cottage - this is an octagonal gazebo with your own hands. Like any other building of this type, it can be open or closed, and any material can be used to make it. The only difficulty in construction lies in the special geometry of the structure, but when drawing up detailed drawings, even an octagonal shape will not cause inconvenience.

Designing a gazebo

The main part of the preparation for work is to draw up a detailed design of the structure. It must include.

 • Arbor location. It must be carefully chosen - the building must be illuminated by sunlight, protected from the wind and prying eyes, so that it is as comfortable as possible. The perfect place will become an elevated point of the site, located in open space. At the same time, the design should not interfere with neighbors.
 • Design. In order for the gazebo to become a decoration of the site, organically fit into it, and not stand out against the background of the environment, it is best to perform it in the general style with a country house. It is necessary to choose the optimal dimensions. When designing an octagonal gazebo, the drawings must be drawn up taking into account these dimensions.
 • Enumeration of the materials used. Everything is suitable for construction - from plastic pipes to forged metal, but the best choice becomes wood. It is easy to process, environmentally friendly and aesthetic. In addition, you can use improvised materials.

The drafted project should be certified by the controlling institutions to make sure that the construction of the gazebo will not violate any legal norms. Without this, in the future, the structure may be demolished as a squatter.

The main thing when drawing up a drawing is to build a regular octagon. This can be done in two ways.

 1. From a square. A square is built, then it is divided into 9 equal parts, after which the corners of the figure are cut off.
 2. From the circle. The circle is divided into 8 equal sectors with four diameters, after which the ends of the straight lines are connected.

If there are difficulties with the design, drawings can be ordered from a special organization. After that, it remains only to purchase materials and assemble a gazebo with your own hands. The option is less economical, but the design will definitely turn out to be of high quality.

The gazebo supports will stand on the elements of a pile foundation, the bearing capacity of which is quite enough for a light wooden structure. There will be 9 piles - one for each corner of the building and one in the center to hold the floor. The supports should be deepened by at least 60 cm in order to go beyond the depth of soil freezing - otherwise, in the fall, the structure will be squeezed out of the ground by the force of soil expansion.

The work is as follows.

 1. In the pits, a pillow is made of sand and gravel 70 mm thick. This layer must be carefully compacted.
 2. A tubular formwork is dug into the ground, which is then filled with a cement-sand mixture.
 3. When the concrete hardens, an adjustable anchor is attached to it. Instead, you can use a recessed anchor (you need to install it before the concrete hardens); in addition, you can simply drown the ends of the wooden posts in concrete. Reliability will be about the same.
 4. The racks are fixed in the chosen way. The evenness of the installation should be checked with a plumb or water level. If the supports are buried in concrete, temporary struts should be constructed so that the posts do not warp when the material hardens.

If instead of columnar is used strip foundation, the essence of the work will be the same, only the concrete will be poured into the trench with the formwork. The frame of the gazebo must be rigid, therefore, a bar with a section of 100x100 mm is used for its construction. Above and below, a horizontal strapping is made from a bar with a section of 50x100 mm - the floor of the gazebo will be attached to the bottom, to the top - rafter system.

All wooden elements should be treated with antiseptic and antifungal impregnations to avoid their rapid deterioration.

Arrangement of the floor and fence

The next stage in the construction of an octagonal gazebo with your own hands is the arrangement of the floor covering. It is done on logs, for which you can use boards with a section of 50x150. They are attached to the bottom harness with metal clamps or self-tapping screws screwed in at an angle. The basis of the lag system is two crosses connecting the supports. These logs will divide the floor into sectors in accordance with the drawing. Then each of the sectors is additionally reinforced with T-shaped struts.

Thematic material:

After that, a flooring made of boards or a wood-polymer composite is laid on the logs. Each sector of the floor is sheathed separately; boards are cut in such a way that the angle corresponds to the angle of the main lag. The joint between the boards of different sectors should fall in the middle of the log. To fix the boards, two self-tapping screws are screwed in at both ends.

If desired, the tree can not be used - the floor is easily made of paving slabs or just filled with concrete. The choice is almost unlimited, it all depends on the project and the imagination of the designer.

 • supports - in their role are the racks of the gazebo;
 • railings - they are made by analogy with horizontal strapping, they should not be cut into supports, as this will reduce the bearing capacity of the racks - it is better to fix them with corners or metal brackets;
 • balusters - they can be of any shape, installed with any step, they are attached to the railing using self-tapping screws screwed through the timber.

In addition, it is worth making a frieze - it is constructed in the same way as a fence, only along the upper edge of the gazebo. Its details can be cut with a jigsaw from thin boards - the bearing capacity of the frieze is not needed. To hide the fasteners that fix the balusters, you should use wood putty, consisting of sawdust and PVA glue. These places should then be sanded and varnished or painted.

Installation of truss system and roofing

The truss system, on which the roof of the gazebo will be held, is the most difficult part of the octagonal structure. It is made from a 50x100 timber and a vertical trimming of an octagonal timber that will connect the ends of the rafters. The other end of each board will be attached to the support posts.

The truss system is constructed as follows.

 1. A beam of such length is selected so that after joining in the center of the arbor, it protrudes 150-200 mm beyond the edge of the arbor.
 2. From the end, the beam is cut at an angle of 22.5 °, so that the rafters can be conveniently connected to each other.
 3. The bars are connected at the point of convergence in pairs, screwed with self-tapping screws to the central bar.
 4. The opposite end of the beam is screwed to the vertical support of the gazebo.

After all the rafters are installed, the roof is sheathed with plywood or boards. Roofing material is laid on top of this base to protect it from precipitation, then roofing material is mounted. Any roof can be used, but it is best to match the roof of the house. The best options are tiles, metal tiles, ondulin. You can also leave the wooden roof, treating it with rotting impregnations and painting it. The joints of the roof edges must be protected from rain with a ridge template.

After the roof is made, the walls can be sheathed if the design of the gazebo is closed. To do this, you can use boards with a thickness of 30 mm. It is important to provide space for windows. After that, the finished gazebo is painted or stained with a suitable shade. It remains only to install inside the bench, table or other garden furniture and a place to rest on your own suburban area will be ready for use.

Thus, independently building an octagonal gazebo in a summer cottage is not as difficult as it might seem. If desired, you can give a place to relax and a more complex shape - the main thing is to follow the rules of geometry. It should be borne in mind that it is not necessary to make a structure from boards - this is only the simplest option. More original and complex are chopped arbors, forged, brick and other options. With experience, you can cope with any task, the main thing is to take into account all the details when drawing up a project.

For a quiet family holiday in a summer cottage of small size, a garden gazebo made of natural wood. As a basis for construction, you can take the project of an octagonal gazebo, which, due to its unusual shape, compact size and natural materials, will harmoniously fit into the concept of almost any garden plot. country house.

Features of the construction of an octagonal gazebo

Recently, octagonal arbors, captivating with their original technical solution and the availability of materials for their manufacture, have become widespread in the sector of individual construction.

This article will describe the main positive qualities of such a building, thanks to which it has gained wide popularity among summer residents. In addition, the reader will be presented step-by-step instruction and detailed description how to make an octagonal gazebo on your own at your summer cottage.

Start of construction

First of all, you need to look at the site plan, choose a place to build and prepare a drawing of an octagonal gazebo that you plan to build. At the first stage of construction, it is necessary to make a columnar foundation from asbestos-cement pipes, on which the entire structure of the gazebo will be based.

 1. On the prepared territory, remove the fertile layer of soil and use building sand to mark out. Along the contour of the future building, you need to draw a regular octagon of the desired size.
 2. At all corners, in the center and at half the distance from the center to the edge of the perimeter in the diametral plane (see figure), use a garden drill D150 mm to drill holes in the ground to a depth of ~ 1m.
 3. Insert an asbestos-cement pipe D150 mm into the holes obtained, so that its upper part rises 200-250 mm above the soil surface.
 4. Align the upper ends of the pipes in line with the horizon, and make the central pipe 100 mm higher than the rest.
 5. Inside, along the center line of each pipe, install a reinforcing bar D12 mm. In the central and corner pipes, it should rise above the upper end by 200 mm. After that, fill the pipes to the top with concrete mix.

Advice! For additional protection each asbestos-cement pipe of the foundation must be covered bituminous mastic, and for waterproofing the base, lay one or two layers of roofing material on top of each column.

The base of the gazebo

After the concrete has hardened in the foundation columns, you can begin to assemble and install the base of the gazebo. It is an octagonal frame structure made of wooden beams with additional cross beams.

 1. Saw a beam 100x100 into equal segments of the required size in the amount of 8 pcs. with allowance for length.
 2. On each side of the eight bars, make cuts to connect them to each other half a tree at an angle of 135 °. Also prepare two beams of transverse beams for connecting half a tree.
 3. Centered corner connection adjacent bars drill a hole D12 mm.
 4. Perform a control assembly of the lower trim and, after making sure that the dimensions are correct, install it on the concrete columns of the foundation, placing each beam on the protruding reinforcing bar. Connect all elements of the base to each other using self-tapping screws.
 5. Install on the base a wooden flooring made of boards 40 mm thick. In the right places, drill the boards for the passage of the reinforcing bar.

Base frame assembly

After making the base, you can proceed with the installation of vertical supports and the upper transverse strapping, which should result in a rigid structure.

 1. From a bar 100x100 mm, you need to make 8 supports with a height of 2100 mm and one with a height of 2800 mm. Using a planer, chamfer 10 mm at the corners.
 2. At the bottom end of each beam, drill a hole D12 mm 120 mm deep.
 3. Install the vertical supports in the corners and in the center of the base, pushing them with holes on the reinforcing bar and fix them with self-tapping screws using metal corners.
 4. Align the supports according to the level and, if necessary, fix with temporary wooden braces.
 5. On the upper edge of the supports, install a horizontal roof trim from a 50x100 mm board. The end of each board must be cut at an angle of 22.5 °, adjusted in length and fixed with self-tapping screws to a vertical support.
 6. To the vertical supports to the required level, fix the wall sheathing of the gazebo, which in the simplest version can be made of a board 30 mm thick. From the same board you can make window sills.

Roof manufacturing

The roof is the most labor-intensive and critical moment of construction, which is complicated by the fact that all work must be carried out at a height.

 1. From 20 mm plywood, cut a circle with a diameter of 350-400 mm and fix it with glue and self-tapping screws in the middle of the central vertical support.
 2. From a board 70x100, make rafters in the amount of 8 pcs.
 3. Make appropriate cuts in them so that the upper part of the rafter rests on the central circle fixed on the pole, and the lower part lies on the boards of the transverse strapping of the vertical supports. Thus, install and secure all 8 rafters with screws.
 4. From a 25 mm board, make and install a roof sheathing on the rafters, cutting each board at an angle of 22.5 ° and connecting them in the center of the rafter. Fix all elements of the roof with self-tapping screws until it is adequately rigid.
 5. Lay a roof of any suitable waterproofing material on top of the crate. The most aesthetic and convenient to use is considered flexible shingles.

Conclusion

Finally, it should be noted that, despite the simplicity of the design during construction, you need to carefully look at the drawings of the octagonal gazebo with your own hands, which you make.

Answers to your questions can be obtained by looking at video in this article or additionally reading similar materials on our website, and you can leave your wishes and comments in the comments.

Methods for creating an octagonal figure and making a foundation for a gazebo

First you need to make a base for the gazebo. There should be no difficulties with it, and it can be completely done with your own hands. Since the gazebo is considered a lightweight structure, it is enough for it to lay a shallowly buried strip foundation. To do this, on the selected territory, with the help of a tape measure, pegs and a cord, a square measuring 3 by 3 m is marked out. Then it is divided into 8 parts and, using the same cords and building level, the corners are cut so that a regular octagon is obtained.

An octagon can also be drawn using a circle. To do this, exactly in the middle, where this structure will be located, a column (reinforcement, pipe or timber) is firmly driven in and then a rope is tied to its base, which does not have the property of stretching. A peg is attached to its end and after that a circle is drawn with the help of such a homemade compass. Then this figure, again, is divided into 8 equal segments and the points where the arcs of the circle and the diagonals that it shared intersect are connected by straight lines. When dividing a circle or square, it must be taken into account that one of its segments will serve as an entrance to the gazebo.

Focusing on the stretched twine, a trench is dug in the marked places, the depth of which should correspond to 40 cm, and the width should be about 15 cm. In this case, it must be borne in mind that the top of the boards must be in the same horizontal plane. After that, a sand cushion is poured into the trench, rammed, reinforcing material is laid and then poured with concrete mortar with the addition of crushed stone. At the same stage of work, in each of the 8 corners, it is necessary to install and concrete anchors into the foundation, which can be made by hand from reinforcing scraps. They should rise above the foundation to a height equal to the future walls with a margin of 15-20 cm, since it is on them that the vertical racks will be attached.

Construction of an octagonal gazebo

The base of the gazebo is installed on a leveled surface.

First, it should be noted that it consists of several stages, since, in addition to the foundation, other parts are included in its structure. The construction of the remaining elements of this structure can be started only after the foundation dries well. Usually this takes a week. Since it will be used outdoors, to exclude negative impact external environment it requires a waterproofing layer. As it can be used roofing material, which must be laid around the entire perimeter of the base.

Further, on all faces of the base, pieces of timber are stacked on top of each other of such length that they protrude 2-3 cm at their intersection. After that, along the upper bars in their width on the lower blanks, lines are marked with a pencil and cuts are cut along them with a hacksaw. Then, with the help of a chisel and a chisel, grooves are made. In the same way, cuttings are made on the upper bars. It should be noted that all the grooves made must have the same depth, which will help the workpieces to assemble in a strictly horizontal structure.

After that, all the protruding excess parts of the bars are cut down so that an even and neat corner of the octagon is formed. Between themselves, all the blanks are fastened with nails. In this way, crown by crown, the walls of the gazebo are erected to the required height. In projects, it is usually indicated at the floor of human height, since it is at this level that it is convenient to place window sills. They are made from a smoothly planed board with a section of 50 by 150 mm. They are attached to the wall with galvanized nails.

Next, you need to install vertical racks. To do this, on 8 wooden bars with a section of 100 by 100 mm and a height of 170 cm, holes are made at the lower ends and mounted on previously made anchors. Then the vertical pillars at the upper ends are interconnected by bars of the appropriate size strictly horizontally. In addition, in order for the vertical posts to hold well, and the whole structure to have strong stability, rafters are necessary. If they are not done, then it will also not be possible to lay the roof.

For their manufacture, it will be necessary to prepare segments from a bar of the same length. After that, grooves are made on them and on the racks for joining these elements and fixed with self-tapping screws. Then you need to connect their upper ends to each other using a small octagon, which can be made from pieces of timber with a section of 100 by 100 mm, after setting it exactly in the center of the gazebo. When erecting rafters, it is necessary to control the verticality of the racks.

The roof can be covered with any roofing material. For example, shingle boards that fit the design of this gazebo would be an excellent option. They are laid from top to bottom, while leaving a minimum gap between them. The slots of the sectors are closed with ridge elements, which are made using a bar with a section of 50 by 50 mm. The top of the roof is closed with a cone-shaped cap made of galvanized iron.

Built-in benches will add comfort to the gazebo.

Next, the gazebo should be ennobled. This can be done with trellises. They look like a lattice, which is made by nailing rails crosswise, forming a pattern of squares or rhombuses. In addition, trellises can serve, which, if planted around the perimeter of the gazebo, will give it romance. For their manufacture, many rails with a cross section of 10 by 25 mm will be required. In order to decorate this design with such a decorative lattice, it is necessary to make a frame from a bar with a section of 25 by 25 mm, then fix it on the racks and nail the rails to it with galvanized nails, in accordance with the desired pattern.

Wooden structures that are outdoors should be treated with paints and varnishes intended for outdoor use. They protect the wood from the negative effects of the external environment. Small wooden elements can be cleaned with DIY sandpaper, but for larger surfaces it is better to use grinder. All wooden parts must be covered with an antiseptic before assembly.

At the last stage, the floor is made by hand. The most practical, durable and reliable option for this will be paving slabs or paving stones. Of course, you can make wooden floors, but they will quickly become unusable. In addition, such floors must be periodically painted, which will entail additional financial and labor costs.

A gazebo is an indispensable attribute of a personal plot. The Internet is replete with offers to buy ready-made drawings of gazebos for self-construction, or entrust the construction of a small architectural form to professionals. But often, for some reason, existing proposals do not meet the needs of land owners, either the size does not fit, the shape and design do not suit, or it is simply expensive. And in itself, the construction of a gazebo is not a complicated process and is quite feasible with your own hands.

This article is devoted to how to draw up a plan, drawing and diagrams of gazebo nodes, how to determine the size depending on the purpose of the building, how to properly place a barbecue, a place to relax, a kitchen, etc. And of course, we have selected for you ready-made schemes and drawings of gazebos.

Layout

The first thing to decide is where the building will stand. To do this, you will need a site plan on a scale convenient for you, which indicates: the main building (house), outbuildings(bath, sheds), schemes garden paths, trees.

Advice: It is better not to cut down perennials, they will still serve for shade and landscape design.

Do-it-yourself gazebos with drawings, a photo of a canopy made of logs of a non-standard simple shape with a corner barbecue

Carefully study the plan of the infield, taking into account the totality of circumstances, and mark on the diagram where, in your opinion, the gazebo will be most appropriate. It is better to place it in the depths of the garden, at the end of the path, between the trees. The distance from the main house is 3-5 m. If the building is planned with a barbecue, fireplace or stove, then it is desirable to move it away from the main residential building by more than 8 m.

Gazebo plan for a summer residence, an independent drawing with dimensions

When drawing up a drawing, do not forget about the foundation. For country arbors, it is optimal to arrange a columnar base. The distance between the posts is 1500-2000 mm, for each vertical support. Post section 300*300, 400*400 mm. When marking the foundation scheme on the ground, add 100 mm on each side so that the base is larger than the dimensions of the building.

Functionality and dimensions - what you need to know

Pavilions, first of all, are built for comfortable outdoor recreation, which means that they must be comfortable, durable, reliable, everything must be at hand, nothing should interfere, annoy. And for this you should know some rules of ergonomics.

Typical drawing of a rectangular structure

As a rule, rectangular buildings have a two- (as in the diagram above) or a hipped roof.

Wooden gazebos, drawings of a square building with a hipped roof

Standard table width 600-800 mm, length 800 mm - for 4 people, 1200 mm - for 6 people. The convenient size of the seat of a chair or bench is 400-450 mm. Thus, the minimum width of the gazebo is 1500 (600+450+450) mm, length 1500-2000 mm.

Do-it-yourself country gazebos, drawings of a mini log construction

Note: If necessary, the dimensions of the gazebo can be reduced, in which case it is better to opt for a small, frame canopy building, see an example in the diagram below.

Arbor scheme for a small area

The product is on a metal frame, the dimensions are schematic, the length and width of the gazebo can be changed to suit your needs

For comfortable accommodation of one person, an area on the floor is required - 2 m 2, therefore, optimal size gazebos for a company of 4-8 people - 3 * 4 m, 4 * 4 m (12-16 m 2).

Do-it-yourself hexagonal gazebos, drawings of a standard wooden structure

If not only a place for gatherings is planned, but also a recreation area, with chairs and sun loungers, then the area of the gazebo is calculated at the rate of 4 m 2 per 1 person.

In order to correctly draw a drawing of a gazebo with a barbecue or a fireplace, when calculating the area, it is necessary to take into account the dimensions of the furnace. The optimal depth of a brick barbecue is 750-1000 mm (3-4 brick lengths), width - 1200 mm (10 brick widths).

Drawing of a standard brazier

In addition to the brazier or barbecue, on the side of it, for convenience, a desktop 600-800 mm wide should be provided, to it, preferably, a sink - a width of 600-800 mm, and on the other side a place to store firewood, for symmetry the same distance. Based on this, the minimum length of the kitchen, including the oven, is 2400-3400 mm.

Scheme of a brazier with a working area

In front of the barbecue, it is necessary to provide a free space of 1000-1200 mm in order to move freely during cooking, and the heat does not interfere with those sitting at the table. Thus, when drawing up a drawing of a gazebo, in addition to a place for gatherings of 8-12 m 2, an additional area should be allocated for the barbecue: at least - 2400 * 1750 mm, with comfort - 3400 * 2200 mm.

To save space, the stove can be installed in the corner of the gazebo, or make a separate canopy on the site near the building.

Shape and design features

In addition to the fact that gazebos are open and closed, they also differ in shape: rectangular, multifaceted, round, combined, etc.

Assembly diagram of a closed square garden summer house under a pitched roof

Scheme of a large gazebo made of wood under a hip roof, on a foundation 4 * 6 m

The easiest way is to make a drawing of a rectangular gazebo, but pitfalls lie in wait here: when transferring the scheme to the site, make sure that the angles are strictly 90 o, the diagonals are the same, or use the rule of the Egyptian triangle.

Marking the area for the gazebo

Measure 3.0 m on one side, 4.0 m on the other, connect the points in a straight line, check the geometry, if the connecting line is 5.0 m, then the angle is 90 °

Simple rules for building circuits

Drawings of multi-organ structures during independent design cause some difficulties. But let us remind you of just a few rules from the school course. For example, a hexagon equal parties always consists of 6 equilateral (all sides are equal, and angles = 60 o) triangles. Or from two equal trapezoids.

A diagram of how to simply draw the base of a hexagonal gazebo

If you want to change the shape of the gazebo, for example, to enlarge some sides, then first a rectangle is drawn (in the diagram below with a green line), then its diagonals are drawn, the middle is found. From the point of intersection of the diagonals, perpendicular to the long sides of the rectangle, I set aside the same segments (yellow line in the diagram), then the points are connected. Or you can still draw 2 equal trapeziums with a common base, the height of the trapezoid should be equal to half the side of the gazebo.

Do-it-yourself hexagonal gazebo drawings, if you want to change the length of the sides

To draw an octagonal gazebo, its base must also be decomposed into simple figures as shown in the diagram below.

2 perpendicular intersecting lines are drawn, equal to the length and width of the structure, a rectangle is built, one side of which is equal to the side of the building, the other is the width

The drawing of the gazebo is 8-sided, in the diagram it is marked in yellow how to connect the sides of the polygon

To increase the number of sides in a polygon, just draw another rectangle and connect the vertices along the path, as shown in the diagram.

Garden structures in the form of a polygon are a bit more difficult to build than relatively simple rectangular buildings, but they look more original and spectacular. To make the gazebo not only functional, but also become a decoration of the garden plot, decorate it with a beautiful wooden lattice or elegant forging, plants, choose a lighting scenario.

When designing a suburban area, many owners strive to create a small cozy corner where you can enjoy all the delights of a country holiday. One of its main elements is often an octagonal do-it-yourself gazebo - a small polygonal building under a multi-pitched roof with open, partially open or completely enclosed walls.

There are many design options for such buildings, but general principles manufacturing, as a rule, are the same for all types. About how to build a gazebo in a summer cottage or make it near a country house and will be discussed in the future.

Preparatory work

Choosing the size of the gazebo

Before acquiring materials and starting work, you should decide not only on the location and size of the future structure, but also on its main geometric parameters. As noted above, the shape of the gazebo structures in terms of can be different from triangular to multifaceted and even round. Based on the selected option and its linear dimensions, calculate the approximate number of lumber and connecting elements, based on our instructions.

Preparation and cleaning of the place under the gazebo

The construction site must first be cleared of perennials and aligned. The option we describe has an octagonal shape. You can calculate the length of the sides of the base based on the radius of the circumscribed circle of the octagon using the following formula: a = 0.765 * R. Thus, knowing the dimensional parameters of the site proposed for development and the dimensions of your future product, you can pre-calculate the required amount of lumber.

In general, for the construction of an octagonal gazebo, you will need the materials and tools presented below.

Since the floor takes the main load from the entire structure, as well as from the furniture located in the building and the people in it, high requirements are placed on the strength of the base. For its basis, purchase a planed board of coniferous or hardwood with a section of 200 × 50 millimeters.

In order for you to get an octagonal gazebo with your own hands, the drawings of such a gazebo are an urgent need. The following is a suitable drawing of such a gazebo.

Foundation preparation

Before assembling the frame, dig indentations and fill in the corners of the gazebo and in the center with small columnar foundations from concrete After the mixture hardens, attach to the columns of support from a bar 200 × 200 of small length. Try to keep their top ends in a horizontal plane.

Construction of the base and frame of the gazebo

Gazebo base assembly

Saw off the sides of the base boards, calculating their length using the formula above, and saw off one of the ends at a 45 degree angle to facilitate the joining process. Assembly is carried out using self-tapping screws.

The outer board should have a section of 250 × 50 millimeters in order to hide the ends of the floorboards.

Having assembled the frame of the perimeter of the gazebo, and installing it on the supporting bars, fix inside it a crosspiece from paired boards and several parallel ones, installed for greater strength on the edge. Butt-join the parts in the same way using self-tapping screws, screwing them in at an acute angle. You can additionally strengthen the base of the floor using steel corners.

If there are a large number of animals in the vicinity and in order to prevent them from penetrating under the base of the building, fasten a fine-mesh steel mesh from the inside of it with a construction stapler or nails. The lower, free part of the fence can be sprinkled with large gravel.

flooring

The next stage of work is flooring. To do this, prepare pre-treated boards and select the future laying pattern. In our case, the floor consists of four mutually perpendicular segments. To increase ventilation between the individual boards, a small gap of about 5 millimeters is made, which is regulated by inserts of equal thickness, for example, from plywood or sheet plastic.

Fastening of floor parts is also carried out using self-tapping screws. In this case, the installation sites of fasteners are pre-drilled with a drill, the diameter of which is equal to the diameter of the screw head, to a depth of about 10 millimeters. After installing the fasteners, the hole is decorated with round plugs made from waste.

In order to avoid the penetration of blood-sucking insects through the gaps between the boards into the gazebo, we recommend installing an anti-mosquito plastic mesh directly under the floor details during installation.

A lump of installed floorboards is closed along the perimeter of the base with a narrow plinth made of the same material.

Installation of vertical racks

Having finished the work on the installation of the floor covering, we proceed to the installation of the racks of the gazebo. They are made of boards 50 millimeters thick. equal length, bonded in pairs for maximum strength.

We additionally connect each of the installed stacks with bars in the upper part, thus closing the frame of the gazebo.

Assembly and installation of the truss system

The next, rather difficult stage of work is the installation of an eight-pitched roof. For its manufacture, it is necessary to prepare eight truss bars, the length of which will depend on the angle of inclination of the slopes and the amount of roof outlet beyond the outer boundary of the walls. The lower part of the rafters is attached to the L-shaped brackets located directly above the ends of the racks.

In the upper part, the ends of the boards are attached to a special octahedral element made of a square bar by cutting off all the corners by a certain amount, which is determined from the formula for determining the length of the octahedron side.

The joining of the ends of the rafters can be carried out on plug-in round spikes, placing them at different distances from each other, in order to maintain maximum strength characteristics.

After installing all the rafters and fixing them at the bottom and top, fix the jumpers approximately in the middle of the parts.

Roof sheathing and roofing

Attach half-rafters to them, which will give the roof additional strength and resistance to wind and snow loads. After that, you can proceed with the installation of the crate from edged boards 25 millimeters thick.

Instead of boards, you can also use sheet materials, such as waterproof plywood and OSB board, with a thickness of at least 15 millimeters.

After the entire surface of the roof is covered with a crate, proceed to laying roofing material. To protect the roof structure from moisture, we pre-lay sheet moisture insulation.

Roof waterproofing

Any choice can be made. In our case, cedar shingles were used - thin sheets natural wood. For their fastening, use galvanized nails that do not corrode.

Decorating the built gazebo

Divide the vertical space of the gazebo will help installed at an equal distance from the floor board railings attached to the racks.

The octagonal gazebo itself looks very elegant, but arched door and window openings give additional originality to the product. For their manufacture, you can use bent parts that are purchased at hardware stores, or make them yourself. The radius of curvature is large enough. Having made a template from cardboard, fiberboard, plastic sheet or plywood, mark wide boards 30-40 mm thick and cut the arcs with a jigsaw or band saw. A manual milling cutter is suitable for chamfering.

To protect the gazebo from moisture and additional decoration, cover all wooden surfaces two layers of some kind of protective coating. For these purposes, you can use both a brush and a paint roller. It will be especially convenient when covering rafters and battens.

In the summer, the door and windows can be tightened with mosquito nets; in autumn, openings can be blocked with glass by installing an artificial fireplace inside.
