Types of nozzles for watering: which is better? How to make spray tips for a watering hose

Irrigation is one of the most important agrotechnical measures when growing vegetables. Good watering should be timely, accurate and not damage the plants. Therefore, it is important for irrigation installations and systems to choose the right sprinkler for watering the garden. Atomizers are designed to divide the flow of water into small jets and drops. Thanks to these devices, watering becomes better.

The use of sprayers allows you to maintain the integrity of the soil, they do not knock out holes near the plants, and damage to the stems, leaves and other parts is excluded. cultivated plants. Sprinklers can be used not only in small areas, but also in large fields. AT agriculture they use large industrial sprayers, and in order to water your site, you can make a sprayer with your own hands.

Types of sprinklers

You don't have to buy expensive sprinklers to water your garden. An analogue of industrial products can be made with your own hands from improvised materials, and in terms of quality and efficiency, they differ little from factory copies.

Use of plastic bottles

A plastic bottle sprinkler is the easiest and cheapest method for watering an area.

  1. To make such a device with your own hands, you will need a two-liter plastic bottle. Holes are punched in the bottle with a nail or awl. Then, in the cover, you need to drill a hole for the adapter, and use it to connect the sprayer to the hose. Under the pressure of water, jets will beat from the holes. So that they are not too large, you need to make holes of small diameter.
  2. The second version of such a sprinkler is more perfect and allows you to make drops and jets thinner, and therefore softer watering. In addition to the bottle, you will need empty pens. But not all handles will fit, you need to take those that unwind in the middle. Holes of a slightly smaller diameter are drilled in the bottle than the body of the fountain pen. The handle is untwisted and the lower part is used for the sprayer. A handle is inserted into each hole. A hole is drilled in the bottle cap for the adapter and fixed with superglue. To control the water pressure, you can install a special valve at the base of the hose. Such a sprinkler is placed on the beds or near the plant to be watered.

To increase the watering area, you can install a sprinkler in a vertical position on a pole.

Hose sprinkler

With the help of bottles, you can water individual small areas, which may not be very convenient in a large garden. But with the help of hoses and pipes, you can make a whole system of sprinklers with your own hands, which will allow you to water the entire area at once.

In order to make such a system with my own hands the following details are required:

  • three-meter pieces of hose;
  • pipe about 4 meters;
  • tees;
  • steel wire;
  • plug;
  • vise;
  • die for threading;
  • awl.

The irrigation system is first drawn on paper. Then place metal pipe from which the hoses will depart. If the system is connected to a water supply system, then the water pressure will be regulated by a tap, and if it is connected to a water tank, then for the required pressure it is raised 2 meters above the ground.

  1. Holes are pierced on the hoses on both sides through which water will flow.
  2. The pipe is cut into pieces and threaded on both sides.
  3. On one piece, a thread is made on one side, and a plug is placed on the other.
  4. The pieces are connected using tees to each other.
  5. Put hoses on the other end of each tee and secure them with wire.
  6. The free ends of the hoses must be wrapped and tied with wire so that water does not run through them. The entire system is then connected to a water source.

Such sprinklers moisten the ground much better than bottled sprinklers. In addition, in order to automate such an irrigation system, you can choose and install a sensor that will turn on the water with your own hands.

Turntables

These are industrial sprinklers that can be used to water the site. Turntables are installed in the middle of the area in the garden that needs to be watered. The sprinkler rotates, and thanks to this, the water is distributed more evenly over the surface. Such sprinklers can be placed both on the soil and at a certain height from it.

Any of the above methods has its advantages, sprinklers for watering the garden allow you to irrigate a large area of the garden in a short time, and hose sprinklers will evenly and for a long time supply water directly to the plants. DIY atomizers can easily replace the original and save a lot of money. If necessary, it will be much easier to replace parts in such systems than in factory ones.

Modern man, as never before, has learned to combine business with pleasure. Enjoying outdoor recreation, being in a certain sense in unity with the origins of life - this is a wonderful aesthetic side of owning a summer cottage, garden, house plot. Another, often even more pleasant side of this situation is the possibility of obtaining a certain and fairly solid income. Using correctly the basic rules of agricultural technology, every gardener or gardener at a certain time by nature has a solid amount of his own, environmentally friendly and completely safe even for kids berries, fruits, vegetables. Surpluses of such high-quality products can always be of interest to adherents of a healthy diet. It is on such products that nutritionists, pediatricians and other specialists focus their attention today. To get a good and plentiful harvest, first of all, high-quality and technologically correct watering of the garden is required, which can be obtained through a system with sprinklers.

Sprinklers for watering the garden

The organization of technologically correct and timely irrigation largely depends on how balanced the approach to the choice of equipment was. This can be both help to the gardener and significant harm.

When equipping irrigation systems, it is best to contact a specialized company, where they will not only select the required kit, but also perform installation on a turnkey site for a relatively small fee.

It is especially important in proper irrigation to design a system of sprinkler spraying or aeration of water, that is, a technologically balanced use of sprinklers.

Thus, with a lack of skills in work, you will avoid leakage and save such valuable water. The owners of the plots, who nevertheless decided to do the work on irrigating the land with their own hands, often need the recommendations of specialists precisely on seemingly insignificant issues. How to choose lawn grass for a summer residence will tell.

Advantages of sprayers

  • Sprayers allow for systematic, gradual, multi-level saturation of all soil layers.
  • When installed at a certain distance from the soil surface, that is, above the growth of plants, they water from above.
  • In the process of using sprinklers, foliage is saturated, which significantly improves metabolic processes and imitates natural rain.

Sprinklers are structurally simple, but practically indispensable devices for uniform watering. In most cases, they are a segment of a perforated flat one connected to a common system.

How water sprayers are used

Having studied numerous offers of specialized companies for design, installation and turnkey installation, the owner of the site can determine with a reasonable degree of certainty which moisture supply system will suit him best.

There are several ways to water the soil and provide the plants with a good natural environment. This process is carried out in the garden, on the lawn or in the greenhouse in different ways.

  1. The best way to supply moisture in greenhouse conditions is to use a drip type spray. Here the sprinkler is of the most elementary nature - simple holes in the hose, which you can even make yourself.
  2. Spray type - an analogue of a traditional garden watering can. Such structures are the most suitable option for open garden, where a hard crust on the soil is contraindicated for beds.
  3. For lawns, especially if they cover large areas, a sprayer using an electric motor drive is becoming a popular option. These are usually industrial parts that require a good fit.

The range is large, but it is best to make a choice based on the advice of a specialist or installation by specialists of firms that have the appropriate permissions.

Kinds

No need to mention the common truth that any plant requires moisture. Especially popular today are green areas and irrigation parks in cities, large areas near country cottages require systemic care and watering in strict accordance with agronomic technology. Oversaturation with water can lead to waterlogging, and lack of water can lead to drying out. Today it is very important to decide on the choice of sprinklers and sprinklers, which represent the direct working body of the entire complex system. The range of this equipment is represented by five types of designs.

  1. Manual watering of small areas is excellently carried out with watering guns. They are produced by almost all manufacturers of garden tools.
  2. Irrigation of a rectangular or square lawn is most efficient by using a pendulum or oscillating sprinkler. The range includes models for manual use and partially mechanized.
  3. Sprinkler systems with a rotation effect are very popular. This is a large product line of static or fan sprinklers. Differ in the possibility stationary installation by digging into the soil, some models have a special bayonet design.
  4. To fully saturate a certain area of \u200b\u200bthe meadow or lawn with moisture, the most the best option is the installation of rotary sprinklers. They are in many ways similar to static ones, but their priority is that they cover water supply areas with complex perimeters.
  5. An even more convenient design is the impulse sprinkler -. The effect of the work is that it has only one hole for the output of the jet. Through it, for equal periods of time, the ratchet mechanism pushes out a certain amount of life-giving moisture.

If you need constant strong pressure and low operational capability, this type is great when you need to water a circle or its sector.

The beauty, freshness and aesthetics of the green cover of your lawn, flower bed or meadow depends on how correctly the sprinkler model is selected. For newcomers to this exciting business, it is best to get the advice of a professional. This will allow you to get the maximum effect and save money. He will tell you about an electric lawn mower.

Manufacturers and prices

It is best to form the criteria for choosing sprinklers, as well as the entire irrigation system, after consultation with professional meliorators. For those gardeners and gardeners who do not have sufficient experience in deciding on the constructive direction of the irrigation system, professionals can recommend certain preference criteria:

  • Varieties of the watering gun are produced by almost all domestic and foreign firms and companies specializing in garden reclamation equipment, the price category is from $2 to $20.
  • Pendulum type dividers in the price range, ranging from $ 10 to $ 120, which depends on quality indicators. The most popular companies are Intertool, Hozelock, Karcher and Gardena from Germany.
  • Fan type sprinklers are best produced by Karcher and Gardena, the American concerns Hunter and Rain Bird, in the price range from $8 to $60.
  • Assortment line impulse type offered by the same companies in a price range of at least $10 to the most expensive $200 apiece.

The cost of Rain Bird - from 450 rubles.

The decision to purchase should be made based on financial capabilities, landscape and site plan, purpose and other features of the lawn.

How to DIY

Despite the huge abundance of sprinkler options on offer, many gardeners prefer independent production of this structural fragment of mini reclamation systems. This is a completely uncomplicated system, which is easy to fold, having the following details:

  • Metal bollards from 0.50 to 0.80 m high.
  • Perforator for drilling holes.
  • Long plastic hose, handles.
  • Polyethylene bottles from mineral water or drinks.

A device that sprays water and various aqueous solutions, have long been actively used in various fields. In every house there is the simplest version of this device, which is used for irrigation. indoor plants. Any gardener and summer resident cannot do without him in his activities.

In almost all areas of the national economy, you can find such devices that differ only in their design.

1 How does a water sprayer work?

The movement of liquid through the spray tube is due to the pressure difference. The liquid, leaving the hole, enters the gaseous medium. In this case, a directed jet with a rough surface is formed.

The water jet is split into separate droplets by surface tension and increasing stress, which is characteristic of the emerging turbulent flow. In order to increase the instability of the water jet, artificial roughness and centrifugal forces can be used. At a high speed of the jet, not single droplets of water are formed, but the splitting of the water stream into small particles of different sizes occurs.

1.1 How to make a household sprayer with your own hands

Now there are no problems with the acquisition of the atomizer. You can find it in every department store. But you can save cash on his purchase.

Since the device of the water sprayer does not present any difficulties, it is quite possible to make it yourself. Improvised materials will be used, which are always available in every household. The do-it-yourself assembly algorithm for the unit is as follows.

  1. We find a suitable empty container made of glass, plastic or metal. The bowl should be comfortable to hold in your hand.
  2. We select a shutter to the found vessel. Cork can also be made of any material, preferably wood or plastic.
  3. We find the tube and insert it into the neck of the vessel. As a tube, you can take a cocktail tube, a medical hose for droppers, rods from pens, etc.
  4. One tube is in the vessel, and the second is located outside. The design of the connections should resemble the letter "T".
  5. In the end, with the help of any pump, air is pumped into one of the ends of the tube, under the pressure of which a jet of water comes out of the second end of the tube. Instead of a pump, an ordinary rubber bulb is also applicable.

The second version of the sprayer for water used for watering a lawn, flower bed or garden can be made with your own hands from a plastic bottle. The manufacturing sequence is as follows.

  1. In normal plastic bottle any capacity, small holes are made with an awl.
  2. Through the neck of the bottle, the edge of the watering hose is inserted into it.
  3. The entry point of the hoses into the bottle is sealed so that excess pressure is created inside the container.
  4. After connecting the second end of the watering hose to the source of water supply, it will be sprayed through the holes in the bottle under pressure, irrigating the place where the structure is installed.

A do-it-yourself sprinkler is able to fully replace purchased counterparts in terms of its functionality.

2 The use of water sprayers in fire fighting

In automatic fire extinguishing systems, the extinguishing agent is often water. There are two types of water installations:

  • sprinkler, used to extinguish local fires, turn on automatically;
  • deluge, used to extinguish large areas of fire, are switched on by the operator.

Sprinkler systems are triggered when the temperature is slightly above the established norm. The pump for supplying water through the pipeline starts. Atomized water flow spreads near the source of ignition.

Drencher systems are activated directly in case of fire. Water is supplied to the pipeline under high pressure. By spraying with drops larger than in the first case, a water curtain is created.

A modern method of extinguishing fires is a fire extinguishing system with water mist. Water jet under the action low pressure splits and transforms into fine water mist. This explains the effectiveness of this method. Water consumption in this option is minimal.

2.1 Application of sprayers in agriculture

Mostly in agricultural production, sprayers are used that work due to the pressure of the working fluid. The nozzle channel of the atomizer narrows and the liquid is accelerated in it. At the outlet of the spray channel, the pressure decreases. The liquid is dispersed in the direction determined by the shape of the nozzle. The spraying process itself is as follows:

  • initial formation of a smooth film;
  • the film loses its stability and becomes wavy under the action of the air;
  • disintegration of the film into threads;
  • disintegration of threads into drops of different sizes;
  • formation of a jet of sprayed liquid from droplets.

According to the agricultural operation to be carried out and local conditions, the following basic spray patterns are used:

  • flat torch;
  • full cone;
  • jet;

The desired shape of the spray pattern is achieved by installing the appropriate nozzles in the sprayer, which are of different types.

Such sprinklers produce watering and treatment of plants with various chemicals.

2.2 Use of spray devices in the home

Every household uses water taps and shower heads. If you install a special aeration spray nozzle on the faucet, then significant savings in water consumption are achieved. Regardless of the pressure of 6 or 10 l / min, installing an aerator will save up to 60% of water. High efficiency is achieved by hitting the maximum surface area of the minimum amount of water.

Using an economical shower head that works on the principle of a turbo effect (splitting the water jet into a fine one) will save up to 55% of water.

Water spray is used to humidify rooms in hot weather. There are two types of humidifiers:

  • with disc atomizers and nozzles;
  • with spray nozzles.

In both cases, water is sprayed to an aerosol state. Thermal energy from the surrounding air turns water droplets into a gaseous state. This atomization has an adiabatic (cooling) effect on the room temperature. The humidifying installation consumes a minimum of the electric power.

To wash your car, spray units such as Karcher and others are also often used. The principle of operation is based on the creation high pressure in the working tank, as in . At the same time, for the convenience of directing the jet and adjusting the flow power, a spray gun is used. washing machines of this design are energy and water saving.

A spray gun is very common in everyday life. They are supplied with vials of toilet water, perfumes, deodorants, air fresheners and other perfumery products. Do not do without them and when packaging products of household chemicals. Spray cans with household insecticides, glass and grease cleaners are also equipped with spray guns.

Medical inhalation drugs are used in the form of sprays. It also does not do without a sprayer. In medical institutions, by spraying special solutions, disinfection of working surfaces and complete disinfection of premises are carried out.

Various spray nozzles are used when performing painting work during repairs, when painting and varnishing car bodies.

Hairdressers and cosmetologists use sprayers in their field to moisturize their hair and face.

Having considered only individual examples of the use of atomizers, the conclusion is obvious - these devices have widely entered human life.

In order for the annual harvest to please with its abundance, it is necessary to take care of your garden and beds all year round. This cannot be achieved without regular moistening of the soil and the creation of a normal microclimate in it, which contributes to the development of all plants. The natural supply of moisture is provided by precipitation. But they may not always be enough, and in some periods they simply are not enough.

In this case, artificial irrigation is required using a variety of sprinklers and sprayers. But not all summer residents can correctly determine which sprinkler to choose. Our article is designed to help with this.

Purpose and structure

The purpose of using garden sprinklers is to provide the necessary watering that is sufficient to keep the soil moist. This creates the conditions for the best harvest.

In its most general form, the design includes a water supply hose that is attached to a nozzle. Through it, spraying occurs. But now there are many types of devices that give the best result, depending on the characteristics of the site and the requirements for the irrigation regime.

For example, if the lawn is heterogeneous in terms of topography and types of plantations, then it must be divided into several zones. Each of them has a separate type of sprinkler.

Sprinklers for irrigation are designed to create conditions under which the flow of water into the soil becomes uniform over the entire area of the site. In this case, it is possible to minimize areas that are not irrigated or receive excessive amounts of moisture.

Structures can be retractable and non-retractable, have various ways fastenings - on pegs, tripods or directly on the ground. Each type has its own characteristics, scope, advantages and disadvantages.

Types of devices for watering

Before purchasing an irrigation system for your garden or garden, you need to determine which type is right for you.

Watering guns

This is the simplest design that can be used in irrigation. Simply connect the hose to a water pipe or faucet and press the spray lever. Such devices may include:

  • a tip that sets the jet in the "hard-soft" range;
  • multifunctional atomizer that sets the nature of the spray.

For convenience, the design includes a latch that allows you to set the spray mode. Therefore, you can not constantly press the lever. There is also a fluid regulator. The case is made of plastic, which protects the hand from the cold. For cleaning, improvised means are used.

Static view constructs

This equipment can be used to irrigate both lawns and shrubs with trees. A feature is to ensure a uniform distribution of moisture in the absence of rotation of the nozzles. Most often they are an integral part of automatic systems.

Static sprinklers can go deep into the ground or have a portable design. Recessed modifications have a cylindrical body, from which the indoor unit extends. Irrigation distance is not too large - up to 6 m.

The use is limited to an area of up to 10 m2, but in the case of larger areas, the combined use of several devices of this type with a connection to a common water conduit is allowed.

The presence of a limiter allows you to effectively set the spray zone. Among well-known brands, Karcher, Gardena, Hunter, Rain Bird are popular and in demand.

Circular models

This design will be useful when watering lawns and areas with a rounded shape. Non-adjustable pivots consist of heads statically located on stands equipped with nozzles. The movement of water takes on a cone-shaped shape, and the jet can consist of both small drizzling droplets and larger droplets.

Sprinklers can be placed on pegs or stands. The first method of fastening is more reliable and gives a stable support, however, it is used in soft ground conditions.

There are also controlled systems of circular type. The distribution sector here can be adjusted to the specific features of the site and vary within 0-360 degrees. The type of jet also changes.

For more efficient irrigation on the lawn, you need to put several of these elements. And to connect them in a cycle, you can use a regular hose.

The programmable circular models provide even greater area coverage – up to 380 m2. An important advantage of this option is the ability to adapt the spraying to a specific terrain and the specifics of the site by changing the range of the flow. If you correctly divided your allotment into zones, then each of them has its own range indicator.

Rotary systems

In the design, a fixed base is distinguished with a rotating block located on top. The upper part performs axial rotation and resembles propeller blades. Water under pressure enters them and then sprays at an angle.

The rotation of the atomizer screw itself also depends on the feed pressure. The number of blades varies depending on the brand of the product - 2-4 pieces.

In adjustable rotary sprinklers, it is possible to control the type of jet and the size of the spray pattern. This type of device can cover an area up to 30 m2. There are also unregulated technologies.

The use of a consistent irrigation principle allows you to gradually increase the radius, as a result of which the covered area increases. Smooth and step-by-step adjustment of the spray angle ensures greater performance of the entire device.

Modern and more expensive devices are equipped with special heads or rotary-type drums that set the droplet size and irrigation area. Moreover, they can operate at a pressure of 1 atm.

The disadvantage of rotary devices is their susceptibility to clogging with impurities. In this case, it will no longer be possible to repair them. Therefore, you need to choose models that have special filters in the kit, or put filter blocks on the entire water supply system. We recommend paying attention to the brands Hunter and Rain Bird.

Pop-up sprinkler

Such devices are mounted in the ground, but not exactly on its surface, but are slightly recessed. At automatic switching on water, the tip extends upwards and provides spray. After turning off the water, it slides back.

The water supply range is small - up to 4-5 m, however, the quality of humidification is ensured by the frequency of placement. It is used for an irrigation of lawns and lawns.

Impulse action models

Their work resembles the principle of operation of rotary structures. However, irrigation does not occur continuously for a given time, but after certain periods of time. Watering is carried out in the reverse order - from distant areas to near ones. The entire area is covered at each radius. The jet can be delivered up to 20 m.

At the same time, there are pulse sprinklers in which you can adjust the nature of the rotation of the head and the angle of the nozzle.

The function of crushing the water flow and the possibility of feeding it vertically provide higher productivity. In this group of products, the Gardena and Karcher brands are in demand.

Oscillating systems

Their use is suitable for processing rectangular areas with approximate dimensions of 30x17 m. There are several models. In a simple design, a metal or plastic tube is mounted on a stand.

There is an impeller in the tube, which begins to act together with the gear when fluid is supplied. As a result, the tube begins to rotate with holes that are clearly in a row. The resulting thin streams and drops are distributed over the lawn.

Some models are equipped with brass nozzles with notches. They ask rotary motion water flow with the formation of its finely dispersed fraction.

An oscillating sprinkler can also have a plastic tube, the nozzles of which are multidirectional. They have nozzles made of a more plastic material. As a result, the direction of the jet is effectively controlled.

The jet supply range is adjustable for almost all models, but the width can only be set in expensive equipment. The swing angle is fixed within 0-180 degrees. By limiting the flow of water to the holes located along the edge, you can change the width of the irrigation belt. At the same time, the direction of the spray also changes.

How to choose

There are many brands and modifications of irrigation devices on the market. The photos of sprinklers show only some of them. How to choose the right design for irrigating the site?

First, you should study the shape of your dress. If it is close to rectangular, then you will need an oscillating device. It's also great for small lawns.

A large front garden should be watered with impulse or rotary models. For lawns with complex geometric shapes, it will be optimal to use varieties with the sector irrigation option.

For example, for a triangular lawn, three such devices can be supplied with a spray angle of 5-360 degrees. And if necessary, a circular sprinkler is mounted in the center.

Secondly, it is important to take into account the working pressure. Most models operate within 2-4 atm., Maximum - 6 atm. Depending on the pressure required by the data sheet, the system must be selected.

Preferred are product brands that allow you to adjust the strength of the jet and have special tips with a liquid ejection angle regulator.

If the kit includes a set of nozzles, then this is also a reason to opt for the device. The option to mount the sprinkler on a tripod is also effective - it is convenient when watering tall shrubs.

Among manufacturers, fixtures from Gardena, Karcher, Rain Bird and Hunter are popular. However, focus on the purpose and technical specifications purchased system.

A sprinkler is a very useful piece of equipment in a gardener's arsenal. Right choice models, correct installation will ensure high-quality soil moisture and create optimal conditions for plant growth in the garden.

Photo of sprinklers

Neither beds nor flower beds can be watered directly from a hose: a powerful jet of water erodes the soil, forms puddles and can damage plants and cut their leaves.

Therefore, special sprayers are used. The water, crushed by them into small splashes, is evenly distributed over a fairly large area and is immediately absorbed into the ground.

There are many spray tip designs, and some of them are easy to make yourself. We will tell about them.

FAN

This is the simplest spray tip (Fig. 1). It is made from a piece of metal tube - brass, aluminum or steel. One end of it is flattened with a hammer to a narrow slit, uniform in width, 1–1.5 mm wide. To make the gap neat, a metal plate of the appropriate thickness is first inserted into the pipe. Then the plate is taken out, burrs and irregularities are removed from the edges of the gap, having processed with a file or needle file.

If the working end of the hose is provided with a universal adapter for interchangeable nozzles, which we talked about in the article "Water Hoses", then installing and removing the fan nozzle will not be difficult. If there is no adapter, and the end of the tube is too loose in the hose, wrap it with several layers of electrical tape.

SLOT

It is also very simple and is also made from a piece of metal tube, the diameter of which corresponds to the inner diameter of the hose. At one end of the pipe, put a plug on the thread or securely hammer it with a wooden plug. Make a narrow (about 1 mm) oblique cut in the pipe wall at an angle of about 45° to the axis. Finish the edges well with a needle file so that there are no burrs.

The side slot in the pipe provides a fan spray of water in a sector of approximately 120 ° at a distance of 3 to 7 m (at a water pressure in the water supply of 1-2 atm).

To ensure watering around the entire circumference, it is necessary to make three slots in the pipe at different levels, slightly overlapping each other. True, watering will not be entirely uniform - the area near the sprayer will remain almost dry.

It is not difficult to compensate for this shortcoming - during irrigation, it is necessary to gradually change the water pressure, gradually blocking the tap at the draw-off point.

The slot sprayer is connected to the hose with a universal adapter or threaded using nipple connections.

CIRCULAR

Such a sprayer (Fig. 3) can be made from a piece of metal tube about 10 cm long. A standard water pipe of the appropriate diameter will also fit, which would fit snugly into a hose or adapter. In the upper, outlet part, the pipe must be even-walled - only then will the water be evenly sprayed in a circle. Therefore, if necessary, grind the end of the tube into lathe or fine-tune with a round or semi-circular file.

A section of a circular atomizer is shown in Figure 3. A metal cylinder with four to six water holes is pressed or soldered into the tube. A threaded pin is screwed into the central hole of the cylinder. A cone head is screwed onto the upper end of the stud. By twisting it, you can change the width of the gap between the head and the edges of the tube, thereby adjusting the water jet. The smaller the gap, the finer the water is sprayed and the larger the irrigation radius.

For a more even spray of water in a circle, 3-4 concentric turds can be pierced on the underside of the cone head. They will "twist" the streams of water. Such an adjusting device at a pressure in the water supply network of 1-2 atm ensures uniform spraying of water over a distance of 5 to 10 m.

TURBULENT

This is a portable sprayer that provides a very fine and even spray of water within a radius of 1 - 2 m. It is good to use for watering. fruit trees and shrubs, for spraying their foliage. Such a sprayer can be left unattended under a tree or a bush for a long time - when watering, puddles do not form, the soil does not erode, and all water is completely absorbed into the soil.

A general view and section of a turbulent atomizer is shown in Figure 5. It can be made from cans. A standard can of 0 8.5 cm or smaller is taken as a basis. Small parts and a hose pipe are cut out from another can. Details are carefully soldered. To make the sprayer last longer, coat it inside and out with varnish, preferably bituminous.

UNIVERSAL BRACKET

Each of the sprayers proposed here can be installed on the site and left for the time required for watering. But for this you need to make a special tripod or bracket. The simplest design of the bracket is shown in Figure 4. On a metal bar with a length of 100-120 cm and Ø 6-8 mm, a hinged-movable assembly is installed, which allows you to fix the sprayer with a hose at any height and at any angle. The rod is stuck into the ground.

COMBINED INSTALLATION

The atomizers that we introduced you to have a drawback. They irrigate the plot only in a circle, so it is impossible to water the entire garden at one time. The designs of watering sprinklers, evenly capturing the area of a rectangular area, are too complex for homemade. But you can achieve the same result if you use several identical nozzles in one installation. Look at figure 6.

Her device is shown here. The installation is constructed from standard water pipes laid in the aisles, elbows and half-inch tees. Sprayers are installed on tees at such a distance from each other that their zones of action overlap each other, forming a continuous and, if possible, uniform irrigation zone. It depends on the pressure in the water supply network and on the adjustment of the nozzles. For example, at a pressure in the water supply system of at least 1.5 atm, the distance between them is chosen to be about 5-7 m. This means that with 8 sprayers, a rectangular area of about 200-250 square meters will be simultaneously covered by irrigation. m.
