Arrange interior openings. Opening without a door: a variety of design and decoration options (54 photos)

A doorway without a door is sometimes an original way out when solving the problem of combining residential space. So, for example, not all homeowners want to install a door between the hallway and the living room, especially if the layout of the apartment is conducive to this. Quite often, the practiced combination of a loggia with a room is also done by removing the window and door frame, which expands the usable area. However, both of the above solutions at the same time create new problem- original and neat design of the resulting opening.

Today, a very wide range of different materials is presented on the construction market, making it possible to design a living space in any style and for every taste. Therefore, there should be no problems in implementing even the most intricate project. Moreover, you can get by with relatively low costs, at the same time richly trim the doorway with a beautiful and original casing.

No need to think that the design of this element of the interior is not as significant as, for example, walls or ceilings. Until the last decorative details are installed, the general view of the premises will not have the desired completeness.

Modern designers have developed a large number of design options for doorways, which are carried out using different materials. These include the following:

  • Decorative clinker tiles.
  • Stucco molding made of gypsum, or its imitation of polyurethane.
  • Plastic panels.
  • Fake diamond.
  • Natural tree.

In addition to, in fact, the finishing material, the chosen form of the doorway itself can become a design detail of the interior. And it can vary from traditional rectangular options to asymmetrical complex configurations.

Finishing with any of the above materials can be done on your own, having previously developed a design sketch and having at hand necessary tools and materials.

Clinker tiles

One of the traditional solutions for finishing the opening is facing with clinker tiles under brick

Finishing doorways with clinker tiles has recently become quite a popular trend - this can be explained by the variety of colors of this material and the ease of use. Not only straight tile options are produced, but also angular ones, which are convenient for lining the corners of doorways, and they are suitable for both traditional rectangular shapes and for arches or semi-arches.

Most often used for external facade decoration, but for certain rooms and doorways it will suit perfectly, especially if it is in harmony with the wall decoration. Sometimes, in addition, in combination with the doorway, the same material is used to cover the areas around the windows, so that the room immediately acquires its own style.

Sometimes clinker tiles are used in combination with smoothly plastered walls.

On the walls, according to the sketch drawn up, markings are made. This process is especially important if the tile will be laid out in the form of a chaotic asymmetric pattern.

The tile is laid in different ways, creating a smooth edge or a jagged, stepped one from it, often it is mounted with an offset.

Before laying the tiles, it is recommended that the area on the wall to be tiled be further processed, due to which the adhesion of building compounds will improve, and the material will be guaranteed to be reliably glued to the surface. The primer must be completely dry before gluing the tiles.

Clinker tiles are glued onto tile adhesive or “liquid” nails - the adhesive composition is selected depending on the quality of the wall surface. If the wall has flaws or slight irregularities, it is best to use tile adhesive. "Liquid" nails can only be used with a perfectly flat surface.

Glue on the back of the tile is applied very carefully. If a cement or gypsum-based mortar is used, then its excess must be removed immediately, and it is better to try so that it does not protrude beyond the boundaries of the tile.

It is very important to ensure that the tiles are laid exactly horizontally. Control over this parameter must be carried out using the building level constantly during facing work.

When the adhesive has set, these sizing strips can be removed from the joints and the masonry left until the mortar dries completely.

After the glue dries, the seams between the tiles are sealed with grout of a suitable color, in harmony with finishing material or with a shade of walls.

Fake diamond

Finishing with artificial stone is also quite a stylish option, especially since the choice of this material is even much wider than that of clinker tiles. It is made from natural rocks, crushed into crumbs, to which various polymers and dyes are added.

Artificial material very reliably imitates the appearance and texture of natural stone - it can be limestone, malachite, shell rock, jasper, marble and other rocks. There is an option that is simply called "wild stone", that is, without processing, which looks very original.

The colors of this material are varied, from cold gray to warm ocher, so it can always be matched to the shades of the interior.

The advantages of surface finishing with artificial stone include the following qualities:

  • Presentable, aesthetic and stylish appearance.
  • Excellent harmony with other materials.
  • Resistance to mechanical damage when properly laid.
  • Long service life without changing the appearance.
  • Ease of daily maintenance.

To finish the doorway, they usually select compact sizes of artificial stone, with a not very deep relief pattern, otherwise it will look too cumbersome.

For corners, it is best to choose special corner elements that are easy to install and securely fasten to surfaces.

Finishing with this material is carried out in different ways - sometimes it is laid, observing an even border, but more often the “torn edge” design technique is used. Using this masonry method, the finish is more natural, original and does not look “boring”.

Of course, choosing one of the options for placing tiles on the wall and in the opening, you need to rely on the general design style of the entire room.

An artificial stone is fixed in the same way as a clinker tile, on one of the tile adhesives or "liquid nails". It should be borne in mind that this material is much heavier than tiles, as it often has a large thickness, so the wall for its installation must be especially carefully prepared, be sure to treat it with a primer in several layers.

Facing with artificial stone is a rather laborious work, since each of the elements must be glued to the wall and held for some time so that the composition grabs. In addition, it must be said that this is a rather expensive material. However, it is worth it - the effect of a quality finish will be amazing.

Stucco, natural gypsum and artificial

Stucco molding along the perimeter of the opening without a door - columns with pilasters and capitals.

Nowadays stucco inside modern apartments and houses can be seen quite rarely, although this is one of the most interesting styles of decoration, including doorways. Naturally, stucco is not suitable for every interior - it must be designed in a certain style, and in it all the elements must be harmoniously combined with each other.

However, if it is decided to make one of the rooms in a classical, Doric, Venetian or other similar style, where the presence of stucco elements is expected and will not be ridiculous, then the design of the doorway with it will certainly be “in theme”.

Previously, gypsum was used to decorate rooms and facades, and columns were often made of natural limestone. Today, these interior parts are also made from polyurethane.

Gypsum stucco elements are quite heavy, so it is quite difficult to attach them to the walls. Installation is further complicated by the fact that gypsum in a frozen form is very fragile, and if it falls even from a small height or if careless actions are taken during the cladding, the finishing element may break into pieces.

Gypsum stucco is, of course, a “classic of the genre”, but working with it is quite difficult

Polyurethane is very light, sticks well and sticks to any surface.

It is much more convenient to carry out finishing - use polyurethane parts "under stucco molding"

A very wide range of different parts for decorating a doorway is produced - these can be borders, pilasters with capitals or even full-fledged columns that are glued to the ceiling and wall.

The range of polyurethane parts with stucco imitation is very wide

A variety of shapes and relief patterns of these decorative elements allow you to choose them for any, the most demanding taste. It is also very important that polyurethane is easy to color, which can create an imitation of natural stone or make the surface of parts glossy and perfectly white.

Similar polymer parts are also produced for modern design - with a relief that does not have floral patterns, elements of columns and capitals, but is made in the form of moldings. Although they can also be combined with modest architraves that will complement the arched or straight elements.

This version of the polyurethane finish can be disguised as natural wood or stone, painting them with the desired color and varnishing.

Installation of polyurethane parts is easily carried out independently on one of the polymer adhesives, "liquid nails" or a special adhesive "Moment".

It is probably worth noting that columns and pilasters are not particularly suitable for small apartments, since such details will overload the space, and it will seem even smaller.

If the house or apartment has high ceilings that make the rooms uncomfortable, it is worth rounding the sharp corners of the doorway and choosing an arched option for this.

In the case when a hall or hall in a large house is decorated with polyurethane parts, it is best to use columns decorated with Doric reliefs to create pomp and grandeur.

Plastic panels

Plastic kits for decorating doorways can be purchased even ready-made - they are produced for openings different forms: rectangular, arched and semi-arched, designed for different heights and widths. The platbands can be white or made with a textured pattern of one of the wood species, which can have different shades. It will not be difficult to choose the color of the casing for the overall range of the interior, as well as to install them on the walls of the doorway.

Typically, a finishing kit consists of the following elements:

  • Platband, which is fixed from the outside of the opening to the wall. As a rule, this element consists of three parts - the top bar and two side bars. If the opening is made in the form of an arch, then the upper part should be arched. If an opening is being finished that will be operated without a door leaf, then the set should include two platbands, for one and the other side of the doorway.
  • Additional strip, which is mounted directly on the walls of the opening along its thickness and closes it completely.

  • For an arched opening, it must also be made in a certain configuration. Some kits are made of plastic that is flexible enough, so they bend perfectly to the desired shape. However, when purchasing such a kit, you should ask the seller to demonstrate the flexibility of the material immediately in the store.

Making doorways with just such a plastic kit is very popular, as it has a relatively affordable price and has a number of positive characteristics, which include:

  • Ease of installation of elements, which will be easy to do on your own.
  • Sufficient resistance to mechanical stress with careful operation.
  • Easy to care for, as the material does not accumulate dust and can be easily cleaned with a damp soft cloth.
  • Possibility to disguise communication cables under the panels. Some kits have a special entrance for them into the interior of the casing, located at the level of the plinth, and the design provides special channels for laying wires.
  • Plastic panels give the doorway neatness and visually distinguish it with an aesthetic frame.

Fastening to the walls of elements of plastic platbands and extensions is carried out different ways- it can be gluing them to surfaces with the help of "liquid nails", and sometimes they are fastened with locking joints on special guides that are included in the finishing kit.

wood finish

Wooden architraves are traditional for finishing door and window openings, but not many people know that they can have a variety of shapes and designs. Of course, having decorative elements, cut by hand or on special equipment, will be expensive, but they will also be used for a very long time.

If necessary, wooden architraves can be repainted, for example, if the entire interior of the room changes completely, including the color of the walls.

Finishing materials made of wood can be chosen for any style of decoration - they can look very simple or be decorated with curly carvings. An important advantage of the material itself and products made from it can be called its environmental friendliness.

In addition, it should be noted that even the most inexpensive wood, but well processed and coated with the necessary means to preserve the material, as well as decorated with paints and varnishes, cannot be distinguished from expensive wood species. It is not difficult to carry out these processes, so it will be possible to save on them by purchasing or ordering platbands in an unprocessed form from the master.

Despite the emergence of a large number of new types of materials from which platbands are made, wood will never lose its popularity and is often chosen to decorate doorways of any shape.

doorway shape

Since the shape of the doorway plays an important role in interior design, especially if it is not planned to install a door on it, then this parameter should be considered separately. The configuration of the doorway may be familiar to many - rectangular, emphasizing classic style- arched, asymmetric, trapezoidal and other shapes.

archway

The arched configuration has recently become especially in demand when arranging a doorway without a door. This form has become widespread for the decoration of passageways in both standard apartments and large private houses.

The advantage of this shape is that it softens sharp corners. Visually, the arch makes the ceiling higher in the conditions of an apartment, and somewhat “lowers” it if the ceilings in the mansions are too high. If necessary, visually “lower” the ceiling, making the room more comfortable, you only need to slightly expand the arched opening, making it almost completely semicircular, without vertical sections.

In addition, such an arch will expand the space, and both rooms combined with it will look much larger.

An arched opening is usually installed between the living room and the kitchen or hallway. This solution makes the design original, and the interior more interesting. Each owner of the apartment, performing the installation on their own, gets the opportunity to make it exclusive.

Perfectly this version of the opening is also suitable for combining a loggia with a living space. Due to the expansion of the arched structure, the room will visually appear larger than it really is.

Try to make an arch yourself!

Drywall in skillful hands turns into a truly versatile material, opening up the widest possibilities for self-creation of the most complex interior elements. For a diligent and careful landlord, manufacturing should not be particularly difficult. To help him - a special publication of our portal.

Trapezoidal opening

A doorway of this form cannot be called popular, and it is quite rare to find it, especially in a city apartment. It must be said that such a frame, especially having a dark tint, has a somewhat depressing effect on the psyche. It may be more rational to use such a form in large rooms, where it will not become the compositional center of the design, but will neatly fit into it along with other decorative elements.

The appropriateness of a trapezoidal opening in a residential area is very doubtful

If, nevertheless, it was decided to use such a form to design an opening in an apartment where the ceiling is not very high, then you should not make the upper horizontal part of the trapezoid too narrow. Such a form will not only visually narrow the room and lower the ceiling - it will, as it were, make the interior heavier and, oddly enough, spoil the mood.

Such "hard" forms can negatively affect the psycho-emotional state of a person.

The lack of smooth shapes doorway will make the room uncomfortable, even if wallpaper or other decorative trim warm shades. Therefore, if a choice is made of the shape of a doorway without a door, then it is better to refuse this option immediately.

Asymmetric opening shapes

There are a great many options for asymmetric openings - they can have smooth, angular shapes or combine several of the configurations. Choosing bizarre lines for the opening, one must not forget not only about the supporting structures of the house - it is far from always possible to expand the opening to the intended width.

Asymmetric openings - the widest field for the fantasies of the owners

Highly important point is the psychological impact of forms on the mood of the occupants. If you do not want constant hassles, irritability and misunderstandings in the family, it is best to avoid sharp corners and sharp shapes of doorways. If you still cannot do without such outlines, then they need to be smoothed out by placing smooth rounded transitions and shapes side by side.

Due to the fact that today in the construction markets you can find not only ready-made arched or asymmetric kits for decorating openings, but also a lot of other materials, designers and amateur finishers create the most unrealistic decorative configurations. One of the materials that is most often used for such work is drywall. It is used for sheathing structures created from galvanized metal profiles. These Construction Materials have a very affordable price, but for the manufacture of complex, decoratively designed interior transitions, you will have to make every effort and spend a lot of time, as well as pre-work seriously on the project, adapting it to a specific doorway.

Drywall - a unique material for the construction of walls and partitions

When thinking about redevelopment, the construction of new partitions or the reconstruction of existing ones, it is best to rely on the use of drywall. A special publication of our portal is devoted to the process of self-creation of internal ones.

In summing up, it should be noted that the above options for designing doorways without installing door panels are by no means the only possible ones. It is quite possible to independently develop and implement your own design project for this interior element. At the same time, it is necessary to take into account the structural structure of the entire structure, since an expanded doorway in some cases can weaken the bearing walls and floors, which is extremely dangerous not only for residents of the upper floors, but also for those who live in a reconstructed apartment.

If any doubts arise during the preparation of the project, then it is best to contact specialists for the calculation or even for the performance of all work. They will determine the possibilities of load-bearing structures and calculate the allowable limits for the expansion of doorways without compromising the overall structure of the entire building.

When all repair work is carried out independently, then the door lining processes are done by hand. Many materials allow you to update door leaf very cheap and at the same time high quality and long lasting. One of the most popular materials are self-adhesive wallpaper and film. Today I will tell you how to glue the doors on your own and what properties and advantages the materials have with which the openings are designed.

The advantages of the film and its gluing to the surface

Representing a polymeric material, the self-adhesive film consists of PVC on the reverse side of which an adhesive is applied. It is thanks to this that the film got its name and became very popular for use on many surfaces. Before pasting the doors with a film, you should know all the advantages:

  • With some strength and wear resistance, the film can withstand minor mechanical damage and scratches.
  • The film can not only decorate the door, but also update it after a long service life.
  • Ease of gluing allows you to do all the work yourself
  • Convenience of choice - thanks to various textures or colors, you can choose the materials used for door cladding in any interior solution
  • With its help, small defects that doors may have are hidden.
  • The film is very easy to care for - just wipe it with a damp cloth
  • Does not change its color under the influence of ultraviolet rays
  • It has moisture resistance properties - thanks to this it can be used not only for interior doors but also for surfaces in the kitchen or bathroom
  • Low cost for self-adhesive materials - thanks to this, the film has become universally available
  • Doesn't damage foundations

Since I lived in a rented apartment at the time and did not plan to stay there for a long time, it simply did not make sense to purchase new doors or kitchen furniture. But I still wanted to improve the external state, and therefore I decided to update the surfaces with the help of such a self-adhesive film. In order to glue the door leaf with your own hands, you should stock up on the following materials:

  1. Ruler, meter and pencil - with the help of them the necessary measurements are made
  2. Scissors or utility knife - allows you to cut the self-adhesive material into the required pieces
  3. Soft spatula - used for smoothing during lining
  4. Hair dryer - helps to shape the corners and protrusions on the surface

Updating the doorway is very simple and just follow this sequence:

  • The door, like any other surface, should be prepared. The base must not have greasy spots and be dirty. It is also necessary to remove all roughness and burrs. But if you decide to update the lacquered canvas, then everything is generally simple, just smooth out all the bumps with fine-grained sandpaper
  • When the materials are purchased, the surface is prepared, it remains only to glue the film. It is easy to apply the necessary markings on the film thanks to the designation on the reverse side. In the future, the materials are glued to wooden and other surfaces and smoothed with a soft spatula.

Important! If bubbles remain after finishing with a self-adhesive film, then they need to be pierced with a small needle and smooth out the place of swelling.

Wallpaper in the design of the opening

Wallpaper in the design of the opening

Very often, wallpaper is used in the design of the doorway. They can be used to highlight the passage, or vice versa, in order to hide this place and make it less noticeable.

Paper wallpapers are suitable for lining openings, however, being resistant to moisture, they still have a short service life. Therefore, it is better to decorate surfaces with such wallpaper for temporary use. Wallpapers tend to fade in the sun and therefore they soon lose their attractive appearance. But if pasting will take place with acrylic wallpaper, then the period of use will increase significantly, besides, the surface will “breathe”. The design will be similar to vinyl, but unfortunately less durable.

Important! There are also self-adhesive wallpapers, they can be used for facing various substrates. However, self-adhesive wallpapers are not so popular due to low strength indicators.

If you want to upgrade wooden surfaces wallpaper, then choose vinyl materials. They are more durable, moisture resistant and have a huge number of tint solutions. You can even pick up a picture printed on vinyl trellises and thus beautifully decorate the partition between the rooms.

Lacquer for decorating old bases

Very often in order to update old wooden doors do not use self-adhesive films, but varnish coating. Wooden canvases lose their attractiveness over time, dry out and require updating. If you decide to varnish, then carefully consider the preparation of the surface and the choice of mixture.

The use of varnish is a laborious process, but it can turn old wooden canvases into a work of art. With the help of such impregnations, even nondescript pine can become like an expensive wood species. It is not worth saving when buying varnish - only high-quality material will exceed your expectations. Lacquer should be covered with no less than 4-5 layers. Before applying each next layer, you need to sand and polish the previous one.

For independent work Stock up on the following tools:

  1. Lacquer for wood
  2. Roller and brush for hard to reach places
  3. Rag and spatula along with putty
  4. Building hair dryer
  5. Sandpaper of different grits

Before varnishing, you should prepare the base and remove the old layer of paint from it. After that, all the irregularities are ground and smeared with putty. Before applying the varnish, the surfaces should be treated with various impregnations that will protect them from the manifestations of mold and bark beetle. If you want to reduce the amount of varnish used, then prime the base, which will not only improve adhesion, but also reduce the consumption of the mixture.

Results

The use of self-adhesive film is in great demand when it comes to renovating old surfaces and substrates. Due to the huge number of advantages, the film can be used even in rooms with high humidity. However, before use, you should also know a few disadvantages that this material has: if the work was done poorly, then over time the canvas will begin to move away from the base, preliminary preparation is necessary for the film, since the material cannot hide large flaws. The film can be used only once and after its dismantling becomes unusable. Foresee all the little things in advance and only then proceed to the design with your own hands.

Exist various options doorway trim. They help to get a harmonious and stylish design of the room. It must be borne in mind that these structures are divided into two types, which depend on the presence or absence of a door leaf. It is this element that determines the sequence of activities carried out in order to obtain the desired effect.

Ways of facing openings without door panels

Finishing a doorway without a door is carried out in two main options:

  1. Standard. This technology provides for lining openings with various materials, without changing the design.
  2. Arched. This method lies in the fact that the configuration of the opening changes - significantly or slightly.

Each of the methods requires compliance with certain rules, as well as accuracy.

Various types of materials for standard finishes

To decorate a doorway without a door, finishing products are used that have different technological features.

PVC panels

This option is one of the most popular. This is facilitated by the fact that such products have excellent performance and also very affordable. For laying, the method of landing on glue is often used. Panels are mainly faced with slopes. Other parts of the doorway are finished with other materials.

On a note! PVC products require careful selection. To make a coating that will look harmonious in the interior, preference should be given to varieties made as an imitation of natural materials.

Everything is done like this:

Requires to leave the structure for a while to avoid displacement of elements. Now proceed to the elimination of external joints. If they close plastic corners, as is done when facing windows, it may not be a very attractive effect. Therefore, it is better to perform putty with putty. Then you can start the subsequent finishing. For this, painting, wallpapering is carried out.

Should know! There are plastic platbands that are successfully combined with PVC panels. But pruning them is a very laborious task. The fact is that it is necessary to adjust the elements at an angle of 90 degrees.

The best replacement for PVC will be MDF panels. Finishing openings with such material goes well with other products. If it is required to perform cladding of structures in this way, in order to exclude the formation of visible joints, lamination is used.

Facing the door slope with MDF

stucco work

It is immediately worth noting that stucco molding is currently used, which is made of polyurethane. Unlike gypsum options, this type of product is characterized by low weight. Its installation can be performed without the involvement of additional assistants. An important feature of this material is that it can be further processed. That is, it is easy to paint in different colors.

Finishing the opening is carried out according to a certain scheme:

  • All parts and glue are preliminarily kept in the room where the installation will be carried out for 24 hours. This will ensure that all elements get used to the existing microclimate.
  • The areas to be pasted over are carefully covered with a primer. Only compositions that have a deep penetrating effect are selected.

Important! It should be remembered that the stucco sticker is done first. Only after that, it is possible to produce a general wall decoration.

  • The surfaces of the products are slightly rubbed with sandpaper. Next, glue is applied. It is evenly distributed on the wrong side of the fragments. Now the stucco is applied to the selected area and pressed well. To prevent the elements from slipping, small self-tapping screws are screwed under them.
  • If excess glue appears, then they are immediately removed. When this cannot be done immediately, then you can use acetone, which is moistened with a sponge.
  • An important point is the docking of elements. It can be carried out at a right angle (perpendicular installation), or trimming is performed, which is done at an angle of 45 degrees.
  • After cladding, joints appear. They are hidden with putty, which, after drying, is rubbed with sandpaper. Particular care should be taken when finishing between rooms, because it is required to provide for the location of parts on both sides.

Ennobling the doorway with stucco provides some nuances. This option is best suited for rooms that have fairly high ceilings. If you use it for small rooms, then it is advisable to carefully consider the location of all elements. The fact is that it is easy enough to overload the room so that the interior becomes simply spoiled.

Fake diamond

The use of artificial stone is perfect solution, which helps to decorate a doorway without a door in a very stylish and modern way. This option is superior to similar products due to the fact that the material is produced in a large decorative range. For example, clinker tiles are also used for cladding such structures, but their choice is rather limited.

On a note! It should be borne in mind that the concept of "artificial" does not belittle the merits of this product. The simulation is carried out with excellent accuracy. The texture and shades of natural stones are repeated.

Finishing the doorway with artificial stone

Before decorating a doorway without a door with a decorative stone, you should familiarize yourself with its advantages. There are the following advantages of the material:

  • Excellent appearance, which brings presentability to the interior.
  • Possibility of combination with other finishing materials.
  • Excellent mechanical resistance.
  • Durability. Service life is calculated in decades.

For work, small-sized products are used, which have some relief. If you choose a deeper texture, it will look very cumbersome.

Facing is produced using various technologies. Often laying is carried out in a way that allows you to form uneven edges.

On a note! Currently, special elements have been developed that act as corner plates. They help you avoid overcutting.

Making the opening is quite simple:

  1. Marking is carried out on the selected areas. It should repeat the developed scheme. To carry out this process most accurately, the stone is laid out on the floor in a given order.
  2. Wall surfaces are treated with primers that have deep penetration. This will improve adhesion. It is important to allow all areas to dry thoroughly.
  3. Fixation can be carried out on a special adhesive for tiles or "liquid nails". The second option is suitable for those cases where the base has almost perfect evenness.
  4. The composition is applied to the wrong side of the elements. It is important to remove any excess.
  5. The stone is laid in ways that make it possible to form a seam or get by with a monolithic surface (without joints).
  6. Details are seated in place and pressed. It is important to achieve a good grip.
  7. If joints have been formed, then they are overwritten. The color of the mixture is selected contrasting or plain.

If the question arises: what is the best way to finish a doorway that does not have doors, the first thing to consider are options that include artificial stone, decorative brick and clinker.

Plaster

Recently, this material has noticeably fallen in popularity. But as recently as ten years ago, this method seemed the most affordable. It's safe to say that many simply underestimate plaster. Indeed, this option has several significant drawbacks - the complexity of application (in the absence of experience) and the presence of a certain amount of "dirt". But if you do all the work correctly, as well as achieve a combination with other products, then the effect will pleasantly surprise you.

How to decorate a doorway without a door by plastering:

  1. The required amount of the mixture is prepared. The solution made should be in such quantity that it is enough for 30-45 minutes of work.
  2. The mixture is applied to the surface by spraying. Leveling occurs using a rule or a wide spatula.
  3. If required, beacons and perforated profile guides are installed.
  4. When the solution layer exceeds 1-1.5 cm, then a reinforcing mesh is laid.

Such a surface can be painted. But it is better if the plaster acts as a starting composition. Then the finishing can be a decorative (textured) putty. It is applied in a certain order, which allows you to get amazing coverage. Such doorways will become an interior decoration.

Arch device

The arch can transform the interior. It is important to understand that a device of this design requires a certain amount of experience. Indeed, in order to finish the doorway exclusively with your own hands, you will need to expend a lot of effort.

Should know! There are standard-sized arches that are already completely ready for installation. They just need to be carefully installed.

Arched doorway

The most simple are the arches made of drywall. It looks like this:

  1. Finishing doorways begins with the installation of the frame on both sides. It is fixed on the upper horizontal and vertical racks. On the latter, it has a size that is almost equal to the end of the rounding.
  2. GKL parts are fixed to the frame. An arc is pre-cut on them, for this a stencil is made.
  3. Inside the resulting structure, an additional crate is performed. It serves to fasten the last arc-shaped drywall element.
  4. The final finish is done with putty. Decorative cladding produced in various materials.

The arch can be done with more "noble" products, but will require more skill.

Other ways of registration

The design of doorways can be performed by other methods. They consist in the use of decorative curtains or screens. This method is very affordable and simple. In addition, it requires almost no work to be done.

Various options can be used:

  1. Fabric curtains. They will be a great addition to any interior. The composition should be made in such a way that there is harmony with other elements and a combination with window decoration.
  2. Bamboo curtains. This option is suitable when the room is made in eco style.
  3. Thread curtains. These products are used if they want to fill the room with unusualness.

Of course, how to decorate the opening, everyone is chosen based on their taste and preferences.

What can be done with an opening equipped with a door

Deciding how to make a doorway that has a door leaf involves using the simplest options. The only difference is where this structure is located.

A simple arrangement of interior space

The most affordable option for finishing interior openings is the installation of a box and adjacent elements. General technology is:

  • The box is installed. It can be equipped with a threshold or be without it.
  • As materials that will veneer the slopes, dobors are used. They are available in standard sizes (up to 120-150 mm).
  • These elements are attached due to the groove that is on the box. If such design feature not provided, then the fixation is carried out on self-tapping screws. A hole for them is drilled through the end of the part.
  • External decoration is made at the expense of platbands that frame the opening.

This option is great for situations where it is required to complete the cladding of not very wide structures.

Other options

How to ennoble a doorway that has a door in a more original way? In fact, to create a truly interesting option, you need to try. The fact is that it is the hinged canvas that limits the use of different materials. Improper use of finishing products - prevents opening. Although, given this feature, almost everything is suitable for exterior decoration.

On a note! There is a sliding way to open the door. That is, the canvases repeat the arrangement of compartment doors. This is a rather interesting technological solution that requires a more careful choice of facing products.

How to finish a doorway? Such a question has many answers, which depend on the specific situation. But no matter what anyone advises, you still need to listen to your heart and choose the option that will be closest to you.

It is always quite difficult to paste over doorways with wallpaper, and window openings are even more difficult. But since this work is to be done, one must begin with something, and this beginning is the choice of a starting point. It must be chosen so that you do not have to stick narrow panels at the doors (short stripes of wallpaper are difficult to combine with long ones) and so that the edges do not fall on the corners of the window.

First you need to paste the wallpaper above the window, then long stripes on its sides, and then short ones below it. Moreover, you need to cut the wallpaper end-to-end with the casing or frame. Then clean the gaps in the corners, seal them with acrylic mastic and paint the frame or trim along with the gaps and wall plaster.

And the doors should be wallpapered as follows:

We paste the last full panel of wallpaper in front of the opening, and the next - by blocking the casing (at the same time, if the door is not in the corner, the pattern should continue after the opening, and if in the corner, then it is not necessary to follow this);

We press the wallpaper to the casing so that the corner of the profile is visible, cut it diagonally from the edge of the panel to this corner;

We press down the wallpaper in the corners between the casing and the wall, press along the cut lines, cut off the excess, smooth the wallpaper in the corners of the joints;

We cut and paste a short piece of wallpaper over the door, and then we adjust the next one, as described in the previous three paragraphs (we cut it so as to bend the wallpaper onto the adjacent wall if this piece should go into a corner);

We paste a piece of wallpaper at the window, blocking the slope, and make horizontal cuts from the edge to bend it onto the side wall of the slope, then cut the edge of the piece along the frame (before that, the lower side of the upper part of the window should already be pasted over);

We cut and paste the wallpaper panel on the lower side of the top of the opening, bend the edge onto the front wall by 25 mm, bend the edges under the wallpaper on the front wall and the side of the slope;

We cut off the back side of the upper panel of the wallpaper and, if necessary, glue another filling one on the side wall of the slope; we paste short panels of wallpaper and bend them to the underside of the top of the slope until the entire opening is blocked;

We draw a vertical line along the plumb line on the other side of the window, paste a panel of wallpaper on it (between it and the window) and, if necessary, another filling panel, and then paste short pieces of wallpaper under the window, combining the patterns. In this way, it is necessary to paste over door and window openings with wallpaper, cutting off the wallpaper at the slopes.
