Watch stand. Watch Stand Bathroom Equipment

Expensive watches are not only a functional accessory or a beautiful decoration. It is also an attribute of a successful person, an indicator of his financial solvency. Naturally, such an item needs special care. This applies, first of all, to the choice of storage space. wrist watch.

How and where to store?

For expensive, rare models or specimens of jewelry value, a wide variety of storage devices are offered today.

Caskets

The most common option. A wooden, metal, plastic, stone box is probably in every home. Jewelry or valuables are stored there. You can also store chronometers there.

Timemovers and winders

These are also original boxes for storing watches with automatic winding. Such storage will perfectly protect the accessory from moisture, dust, and mechanical damage. In addition, this device is a special rotating bowl, the vibrations of which very accurately imitate the movements of the hand of a walking person. Timemovers usually have a glass door through which you can observe the pendulum oscillations of the chronometer.

The watches in such a device are always ready for work and have almost the maximum charge. Constant movement is necessary for mechanical models, otherwise their mechanism ceases to function normally.

Safe and safe bag for transportation

The perfect place for the storage of especially valuable specimens, whose value or aesthetic value does not allow them to be kept in the public domain. Outwardly, they have nothing in common with the usual bulky code boxes. Rather, they resemble unusual interior details, so it is not so easy for an uninitiated visitor to notice them in the room.

Such safes are equipped with combination locks, special sensors that allow you to “remember” fingerprints, a GPS system, automatic winding and other functions.

You can choose less exotic options for storing chronometers. The main thing is to follow simple recommendations:

  • do not store accessories with a quartz movement near sources of electromagnetic waves. It can be a mobile phone, radio, walkie-talkie or other item;
  • protect the watch from moisture, dust, mechanical damage (scratches, bumps). This will greatly extend their service life;
  • it is recommended to choose a permanent place to store the chronometer. It can be a special stand for outdoor clocks, a small box, a rack, a holder, or a miniature hanger. Accessory should always be at hand.

To store the collection, you can purchase special boxes or safes with several compartments. General storage will not damage the watch mechanism in any way, especially since there is a special compartment for each piece in the box.

Holders

Today they are presented in a huge assortment and allow you to perform 2 functions at once: a place to store an accessory and an element of interior decor.

  • Foam pads covered with satin, silk or other beautiful fabric. They allow you to neatly and beautifully place the watch so that it remains in front of your eyes all the time.
  • Multi-level rollers covered with velvet. Such a product is used to store and display jewelry, bracelets, chains and watches.

  • Vertical stand. This option is most often used in stores. In combination with soft backlighting, the watch looks as impressive as possible.
  • Tablet stand. This product has a soft base and a rubberized backing.
  • Holders in the form of various figures. Interior little things that allow you to beautifully place the clock and take it at any convenient moment.

In what position should a mechanical watch be stored?

Items with moving parts or high value models are best stored in special cases that are included with the purchase by the manufacturing companies. As a rule, they are already equipped with everything necessary for reliable and safe storage.

Bracelet care

A leather or metal bracelet needs periodic cleaning so that the watch retains its original luster and beauty for a long time.

The metal bracelet is unpretentious in care. It is enough to occasionally clean the links with soapy water using an old toothbrush.

One of the ways to clean a metal bracelet is shown in this video.

The skin requires more delicate and subtle care. Watches with a leather bracelet should be kept away from water, and if drops of moisture get on them, wipe them dry immediately.

It is not recommended to leave such a watch in direct sunlight. The skin dries up, cracks, changes the color intensity. Such a bracelet should be cleaned with the help of special tools that can be purchased at the store immediately with the watch or take it to a professional cleaning workshop.

Metal was chosen as the material for the stand (it can also be made of wood or plastic). Once upon a time, an aluminum panel from musical equipment turned up. The aluminum plate originally had drilled holes for screws and speakers, which greatly facilitated further work. It remains only to correctly mark the fragments of the stand and cut the aluminum plate according to the marks. Armed with a hacksaw, I set to work.

We mark with a scriber (a pointed metal rod) fragments of the future cut.

According to the markup, we saw fragments of the stand.

The sawn fragments of the stand subsequently had to be adjusted with a file, since the dimensions and radii of the opening of the two halves were not identical to each other. The two halves were aligned and screwed together for easy filing. In order not to hurt your hands when handling metal parts, parts should be fixed in a vice or use locksmith pliers. After adjusting the dimensions, burrs and chamfers were removed, and corners were rounded to give the aesthetics of the metal structure. For fastening together, two hexagonal through racks were used (used for fastening printed circuit boards enclosures on electrical equipment) and countersunk screws. The hexagonal racks had to be cut to the width of the watch case so that they would be in a stable position on the stand.

We evenly combine the two blanks in relation to each other and fix them with screws. Then we fix the two halves in a vice and process with a file.

After bringing the blanks to the desired state, we assemble the stand (later, conventional screws were replaced with countersunk screws).

After assembling all the details, this could have stopped, but it seemed to me that the watch had an unfinished look. The black dial and bezel of the watch did not go well with the gold-plated aluminum. To solve this "compatibility", you can resort to painting or completely close the holes and bolt heads with overlays. At home, there were trimmings of dense black leatherette. Transferring the contour of the stand to a leatherette flap, two overlays for the stand were cut out. With the help of double-sided adhesive tape, the cut-out linings were glued on the surface of the stand. If you are not quite clear about how the stand with overlays will look, then I advise you to do just that, use double-sided tape, if you are satisfied with the result, then you can safely use glue.

We transfer the outline of the stand to the back of the leatherette and cut out the overlays along the circled line.

After the clock took its place on the stand, the aviation clock began to look like a mantel clock, becoming even more attractive. The work done can be divided into two stages: manufacturing and decoration. You can entrust the manufacture of the necessary stand for your needs to your husband or son, and leave the decoration to your wife and daughter. Working together develops creative thinking and the ability to do something with your own hands. After all, there are times when not everything can be bought in a store, but you can make almost anything yourself! The main thing is to connect your imagination and think it over carefully!

About the author:

Greetings, dear readers! My name is Maxim. I am convinced that almost everything can be done at home with your own hands, I am sure that everyone can do it! In my free time, I like to craft and create something new for myself and my loved ones. You will learn about this and much more in my articles!

Comfort and coziness in our home sometimes depends on even the smallest details and elements. Even most interior designers agree that the most important attributes for getting comfort in the house are well-chosen curtains, original lamps, soft and matched in the right shade, blankets, pillows, bath mats and clocks.

This article will focus on a master class on how to decorate a clock at home yourself.

There are a large number of photos of watches on the Internet, most of them are made by famous designers, but making original watches at home is also not difficult.

There is, of course, one key and difficult moment - this is the installation of a mechanism on the watch for its operation, but the finished mechanism should be bought in a store and installed according to the instructions. But appearance future hours and its rest design completely depends on personal preferences and tastes.

Allocate a few modern technicians, which help to independently make watches in any style.

Decoupage watch style

A similar technique for designing and creating a wall clock involves working with a ready-made store template, where there is already a blank, the base of the hands and the finished mechanism. You can also purchase ready-made patterns on paper, special paints, glue and other decoupage elements.

The workpiece for the clock is made in this way: several times the base is covered with a primer of acrylic paints, and finally polished. The desired shade and texture is given to the base in the next step.

There is one trick - if you want to make an old-style clock with a shade that is scuffed, then the paint must be applied with a sponge.

Decorating a wall clock with your own hands is a process of bringing out the imagination and creativity of a person. You can stick special water stickers on the base. Or draw a preliminary sketch yourself and transfer it to the dial.

After that, the finished mechanism and arrows with numbers are already attached. After a series of actions, the clock created by your own hands will come to life and will give the house a special original look.

Quilling clock

Quilling is an arts and crafts process in which you work with straight strips of multi-colored paper of various widths. Such strips, as a rule, are twisted and glued to the surface, while creating the most varied patterns and pictures.

To create a clock using this technique, it is best to take a tree as the basis of the clock, since quilling elements can be well glued to it.

The color scheme should be in harmony with the interior of the room. After all, a bright clock will look ugly in a room made in a minimalist style. Therefore, the choice of shade is a key point in this matter.

Most often, multi-colored quilling elements are used to create flowers, insects, trees, animals, berries, and so on.

Plaster clock

Ordinary gypsum tiles will serve well as the basis for future watches.

Romantic and reverent natures will surely find a large number of solutions for creating watches from this material.

Among professionals, such a tile is called a medallion. The mechanism of the future clock is attached to its back side. To make the product look more elegant and restrained, its surface should be covered with matte paint in light colors.

And, if you want some highlights, then glossy paint will do.

Note!

This material is most suitable for creating clocks in the bedroom. At the same time, shades are chosen - beige, pale pink, pearl, the color of coffee with milk, purple and so on.

Clock with wooden sticks

In this situation, in your arsenal should be items such as sticks and quality wood, good glue, scissors, and a ready-made working clock with a flat surface.

Many small sticks of the same size should be cut out of wood, and then connected

If the sticks are applied to the base in two layers, then you can achieve a wonderful “explosion” effect, which looks luxurious and original.

Now you know how to make a clock at home. Watch self made Ideal for kitchen, living room and bedroom.

  3. rack-strengthening(it can only be on the table, it consists of bars that are better glued so that they do not fall, the stand is usually made of velvet);
  4. multi-tiered stand(It has different forms, one tier is higher than the other and has its own functions);
  5. sculptural holder(has various functions, in the form of a glass, statues, there are handles and recesses where you can put the clock).

  1. Color. It is necessary to select according to the interior of the room;
  2. The form. You can choose any, square or round;
  3. Additions. Mounts, if there are interchangeable parts, then this is considered the best stand;

Peel the branches from the bark, process with sandpaper for softness, let them dry. Attach the branches at a distance of 3 to 5 mm from each other. In places of their adhesion, glue them. Dry for approximately 3 hours. Paint everything with varnish, fasten the branches with wire, cover the base and hang hooks. Such a holder must withstand everything and not only watches, but also brooches and jewelry.

Which watch holder to choose

This is not for everyone, but a do-it-yourself wooden holder will become an unusual decoration and pride of any home. There are no exact recommendations on how to store watches, they are usually placed with the dial up. Valuable watches should be stored in the cases that come with the watch along with the purchase. If the watch has a great leather bracelet, it also needs to be looked after like metal. They need to be cleaned to retain their original luster.

In any case, it is necessary to keep an eye on any watch and keep it on a stand. After the clock has become on the stand, it will look even more attractive. After manufacturing, they can be decorated. After all, there are times when not everything can be bought in a store, but you can make anything with your own hands if you wish. The main thing is to connect your imagination and think it over well.

Workshop "Amur Jewelery" has begun work on the creation of a special shelf for antique clocks!
The customer chose both the material and the carving pattern - "Vine". We made a shelf model.
Now you need to prepare the material for the manufacture of the shelf.

March 10, 2016

The workshop is working on creating a carved shelf for the clock.
What was done:

  • Selected lumber - walnut.
  • The lumber is sawn into boards, then into slats.
  • Cohesive shields for the shelf.

In order for the shelf to be even, it does not twist - it does not lead, we cut the boards into slats of the required size. Then we glue the slats into shields, from which we will make a shelf.
We plan the shields, calibrate them through the thickness gauge.

Here are our prepared boards for a shelf under an old clock! Now all this needs to be properly cut, cut out. Make a milling cut.

March 14, 2016

In our workshop, work continues on the creation of a shelf for antique clocks. The carved pattern was chosen as grape.
We made a plywood template for the side elements of the carved shelf.
Sawed out from the shields according to the template side elements.
We prepared everything for carving - a shield for a grape pattern, sides with grape leaves.
The milling carving of the grape pattern is made.

For convenience, a plywood template of the sides was made:

We sawed out the side elements of the shelf from the shields:

Sides for a shelf and a shield for a grape pattern:

Now we are carving the side elements of the shelf:

Today, the milling carving on the shelf is finished. Now you need to refine the thread pattern manually.

Today the shelf was assembled (so far the "raw" assembly - without threading and trimming).

The image of the shelf has already emerged, the corner at the shelf is too straight, while we have outlined a smooth line along which it will be possible to smooth the corners:

March 15, 2016

We continue to work on the watch shelf. At the moment, the side elements of the shelf are being carved.

March 16, 2016

Work under the shelf continues.
The sides of the shelf are cut out. There is a carving with cutters of a grape pattern for a shelf.

Thread of the second side:

We are working on our shelf.
Now the vine pattern with leaves for the shelf is being cut.
The side carved elements of the shelf have been polished.

The sides are sanded. Now we cut the vine - leaf by leaf:

March 18, 2016

Work on the shelf is going according to plan.
The central vine was cut and sanded.
The side elements of the shelf have been cut.
The carved elements of the shelf - grapes - are drawn and sawn out.

March 19, 2016

We are pleased to announce that the work on the creation of a wooden carved watch shelf has been completed!

We cut the shelf elements (grapes), sanded and painted.
The shelf itself was milled, sanded and painted.

Carving of a carved decorating element of grapes. We put it on wooden dowels, with a ball at the end. We cut both grapes and dowels manually with cutters:

Here is our finished wooden shelf:

We paint the shelf, at the request of the customer, in dark color. We cut into the hinge shelf:

Here is our next creative project!
We are glad that you came to our creative workshop and watched the whole workflow.
Come visit us again, we will be happy to share new news!
If you have any questions, we will gladly answer on the pages of our site!

March 21, 2016

Today we sent the shelf to a new place of residence).
How to assemble a shelf, we publish right there.
We hope that our antique clock shelf will last as long as possible!

In order to assemble our shelf, you only need a screwdriver.

We screw in the screws so that the tips of mm 3 protrude from the back of the sidewall.

We position it at the end of the shelf, get into the holes with the tips of the screws and fasten it. We close the screw heads with our wonderful ball caps, which would be nice to put on PVA glue. Put a drop of glue into the holes (where the screw was screwed) and put the plug.

The shelf is ready to serve!

Our workshop thanks our customers for their choice! Happy to cooperate with everyone!
Come to our creative workshop, we will make something!
