Crown for concrete socket boxes: description. How to drill a hole in concrete for an outlet or switch Brick drill bit

Not everyone knows what is a socket. Especially if everything is in order with electricity in your apartment. But once the socket falls out of the wall, you will see the socket. This is the socket into which the socket or switch is inserted. They are mounted inside the wall, and serve as the place where the wiring meets the contacts of the socket or switch.
There are several types of sockets. Most often you can find two, a socket for concrete, or drywall. Socket boxes for concrete are also used in the installation of brick walls, foam concrete, aerated concrete, and others with similar characteristics. To install such a socket in the wall, a special hole is made in it.

A socket box is attached to it with the help of a special solution, gypsum or asbestos-cement. It is possible to make such a hole different ways. The simplest of them is to use an electric drill or a puncher with a special nozzle, a crown for socket boxes.

Concrete crown for socket boxes

A crown for sockets resembles a part of a metal pipe, where one end is equipped with cutting elements, and a flange with end fastening is located on the other. A centering drill is located in the center of the pipe. And the holes on the sides of the pipe serve to remove dust when drilling.

With such a crown, it is best to work with a hammer drill, in extreme cases, with an impact drill. To drill a hole for a socket, first of all, determine its center point.

The depth of drilling is determined by eye. Usually the depth of the crown is slightly greater than the depth of the socket.

Having completed drilling, we take out the crown, and using a chisel and a hammer, we remove the inside. You can do this with a perforator. On average, the hole takes no more than 10 minutes.

When drilling walls, a lot of dust is generated. Protective equipment, a protective mask or respirator, and goggles should be provided in advance.

What is a concrete crown made of?

The standard crown set includes:

  1. Flange mount adapter for SDS Plus, or SDS Max.
  2. Center drill.
  3. Crown with incisors. Depending on the model, the cutters are victorious, diamond, and with other high-strength alloys.

Crowns for holes for socket boxes are available in different diameters. The most running 68 mm, 70 mm, 73 mm, 75 mm.

Crown types

A crown is a tool for making holes. They are distinguished according to the characteristics of the material to be drilled, concrete, wood, expanded clay, drywall, and others. And also by the type of cutting edge, diamond, victorious, tungsten.

Diamond hole saw for concrete sockets

Diamond crowns, regardless of the manufacturer, will allow you to quickly and accurately drill holes. It is good to use it with a large amount of work, or in cases where greater accuracy and accuracy of the work performed is required. Thanks to the spraying of technical diamonds, the crown copes with hard walls.

Although it is not advisable to use it in walls where there is a lot of iron fittings. When in contact with iron, it wears out quickly. Also, when using it, it is better to switch the puncher to drill mode.

The diamond crown is afraid of shock loads. It is desirable to use it where accuracy is needed when drilling holes, as an example, to make a hole in a tile.

The only drawback of a diamond crown is its price. Depending on the manufacturer, it starts from 2000 rubles .

But there is also good news. Diamond crowns can be restored. There are special companies for this.

Before restoration, the crown undergoes a special examination, where its suitability for restoration is checked.

It should be well centered, without horizontal beats. And have an acceptable degree of deterioration.

In order for the diamond crown to last longer, it is necessary to adhere to the correct operating conditions. This is taking into account the characteristics of the material and cutting mode, and compliance thermal regime. Protect crown from overheating.

In construction, several types of diamond crowns are used:

  1. Crowns of the KS series are used for drilling precise holes in concrete and other materials of similar density. Polycrystalline diamonds were used as cutters. Designed to work in hammerless drilling. They do not like shocks and vibrations.
  2. Serrated crowns are designed for percussive drilling. They are the most widespread on the market. Suitable for most rotary hammers. They don't like fittings. When drilling holes in reinforced concrete, the teeth, catching on the reinforcement, can break.
  3. Crowns for drilling porcelain stoneware and metal. The advantage of these crowns is dry drilling. The main disadvantage of this type of crowns is the control of pressure and the number of revolutions. Failure to follow the instructions for use may result in damage to the instrument.

Victory crown for socket boxes

In the manufacture of victorious crowns, high-strength steel with victorious soldering is used.

By design, it resembles diamond crowns. The crown resembles a bowl in its appearance, in a circle of which pieces of pobeda are soldered.

In the center of the bowl there is a hole for the crown retainer. A latch is inserted through it for fastening a drill drill, and the lower part becomes a puncher.

The work of the crown is similar to the action of the drill bit. After the drill enters the wall along the marked center, the victorious cutters installed along the edges of the bowl begin their work.

Cutting the concrete wall in a circle, gradually deepen into the wall. After reaching a certain depth, we knock out a piece of concrete of the sawn middle part.

When choosing a victorious crown for yourself, do not skimp on quality. Cheap crowns fail quite quickly. Optimal price-quality starts from 1200 rubles . Do not overheat the crown. When overheated, delamination of victorious solderings is possible.

Tungsten carbide crowns

These crowns use a tungsten carbide coating as a cutting edge.

This alloy has good cutting characteristics, but is inferior to diamond coating in terms of its strength. Despite this shortcoming, such crowns are cost-effective.

They work well with concrete and brick walls. They are also easy to drill holes in ceramic tiles.

Tungsten carbide crowns can be used with an ordinary drill. They cut concrete, stone, brick well, while making even holes.

The main precautions in working with such bowls:

  • Do not use them in places where there is metal.
  • Protect from impact loads.
  • Do not use drill bits with low power tools. The drill must be at least 800 watts.

The cost of tungsten carbide crowns depends on their diameter and the manufacturer's company. Starts from 750 rubles.

The size of the crown for the socket

For non-professional installers electrical networks, then if you need to install an additional outlet. You will have a question about the selection of the correct diameter of the crown for drilling a hole for the socket.

To get an answer to this question, check the diameter of your socket. With this information, feel free to go to the store to purchase a crown. In order not to make a mistake when choosing, ask the store employees about the diameter of the holes resulting from the use of a particular crown.

The standard size of the socket is considered to be a diameter of 68 mm.

Under this standard, switches, sockets and other switching devices are produced. To drill holes for switches and sockets, a crown with a diameter of 68 mm is massively used. Crowns with diameters of 70, 73, 75 mm can also be used.

Sequencing:

  • The acquired crown must first be properly assembled. First we insert the central drill and fix it with bolts. Then we fix the bowl along the thread. When assembled, everything should be tightly fitted, any looseness is not allowed. Such deficiencies can lead to breakage of the bowl or drill, and cause injury to a person.
  • When the crown is assembled, you can start drilling concrete. Use a perforator for this purpose. If there is no perforator, do not despair. An impact drill will work for your purposes. A conventional drill for drilling holes in concrete is not suitable. The process of using it can take a long time.
  • Before you start drilling, make precise markings of the places where you are going to install your sockets and switches. Determine the places where the marks for the center drill will be set. Accurately match the drill with the mark, start drilling.
  • Use tools while working personal protection , respirators and protective glasses. During operation, there will be a lot of fine construction dust in the air.
  • After completing the drilling work, put aside the drill with a crown, and remove the central part from the socket hole. To do this, you can use a puncher with a drill, or an ordinary chisel with a hammer.

Good advice is not to over-save. Do not buy cheap Chinese-made concrete crowns.

They got a bad reputation. They withstand a small number of drillings, then die safely. Their victorious incisors fall off. This is the case when the miser pays twice.

Since the most running hole is 68 mm, and you do not know the exact size of the socket you bought earlier, just take a caliper and measure the outer diameter. You will receive an answer as to which crown you should purchase.

Drilling holes in concrete for sockets is not an easy task, especially in the absence of special equipment. Therefore, it is often necessary to "reinvent the wheel" and use "grandfather's methods". But not everyone knows about them, so in our article we decided to consider some of them in more detail.

There are several options for drilling holes in the wall with a hammer drill, and they all depend on the density of the concrete, as well as the presence necessary tool. Let's start our story with the most simple ways, and finish with the most laborious.

Drilling holes with a hole saw

If you do not know how to drill a hole for a socket in the wall, then just ask the store for a socket hole. This is a very simple device that greatly facilitates this laborious work.

The crown for socket boxes consists of four elements. The first is the foundation. It is a pin for mounting in a perforator, with a flange for winding the crown. The crown is a piece of pipe with a diameter of 68 to 80 mm.

At its ends, on the one hand, there is a thread for fastening with the base, and on the other end, carbide cutting elements. In some crowns, these cutting elements are diamond-coated, which increases their service life. The third element is a drill, which is also fixed in the base with the fourth element - a screw. Purpose of the drill: centering of the crown.

The price of such a crown is quite reasonable. Therefore, if you started a repair with the transfer of electrical outlets, we strongly advise you to buy one. It will always come in handy on the farm.

In order to drill a hole using such a crown, the following operations should be performed.

First of all, we mark the installation site of our new outlet.

We need to measure the center of the required hole.

At the next stage, using a puncher and a conventional drill for concrete, as in the video, we drill a hole at this point.

Then we assemble the crown, and install it on the perforator.

The center drill of the crown protrudes slightly above the edges of the crown itself.

We insert it into the previously drilled hole.

Next, turn on the puncher, and drill a hole for the socket.

Ideally, the crown will go into the wall by 2/3, and we will get a beautiful, even hole.

Drilling holes with a crown and a drill

Using a crown, you will get the required hole. But it will not always be so easy to do so. The fact is that with brick and some types of concrete, such a crown copes very well. But sometimes she is powerless. And then you have to invent another way, how to drill a hole for the sockets correctly.

So:

  • If the crown does not work well, or at all, with your concrete, then you will have to use a slightly different method. Let's break it down in stages.
  • First of all, as in the first option, we find the center of our future outlet. Then drill a hole for the center drill. We take a crown and try to drill a hole with it.

  • We didn't succeed. But there were clear traces of our future opening on the wall. They are what we need. Now, using a conventional drill for concrete, make several holes along the edges of the future hole with your own hands. The larger their number, the easier it will be for us then, so make about 20 of these holes.

Now we put our crown on the perforator again, and, already using it, we again make a hole for the socket. Things should go much faster.

Note! If you are too lazy and make a small number of holes with a drill, then when working with a crown, shocks are quite possible. Therefore, hold the puncher firmly.

Drilling holes with a perforator without a crown

But sometimes it may turn out that there is no crown, and a hole is needed right now. Therefore, you must know how to drill a socket hole in concrete without a drill bit.

In this case, we will use a conventional drill and a chisel, or the appropriate nozzle for a hammer drill if it has the function of a jackhammer.

  • For use this method, we need to outline our future outlet. This can be done by attaching a socket, or using a rope and a pencil.
  • Then, along the contour of the future hole, as in the version described above, we make many small holes.. In this case, it is desirable that there be more than 20 of these holes.

  • Then, using a chisel or an appropriate puncher nozzle, we begin to knock out the remains of concrete between the holes left by the drill. The process is long and laborious, but there are simply no easier options.

Hole for a socket with a grinder

Sometimes it may turn out that there is no puncher at hand, and it is necessary to make a hole for the outlet. In this case, you can use the grinder. Of course, this is far from the best option, but, in extreme cases, it is quite applicable.

So:

  • To use this option, you first need to outline the outline of the future outlet. To do this, you can use a regular pencil.
  • The next step is to prepare for work as a grinder on concrete. The instruction advises to wear glasses, a respirator, or at least a gauze bandage. It is also better to protect the head with a headdress.
  • After that, with a grinder, with a circle on concrete of the appropriate diameter, we make cuts at the extreme points of the future hole. The cuts must be of the appropriate depth. The minimum number of cuts to obtain a square is four, but you can make a figure closer to a circle.

Note! When performing work, in no case should you change the position of the angle grinder relative to the wall. This can lead to breakage of the disc and scattering of fragments. This, in turn, can lead to very deplorable injuries.

  • After that, using an ordinary chisel and hammer, we begin to knock out concrete in the center of the cuts. The work is painstaking, but there are no other options.

Conclusion

Now you know how to properly drill a hole for sockets in the most different conditions. But it's better not to reinvent the wheel, and use the appropriate tool for this.

Moreover, many of the methods described above are quite dangerous, especially the option using a grinder. And not one hole under the socket is not worth your health.

Making large holes in the walls with a drill, a standard set of nozzles and drills is laborious and inefficient work, as a result of which irregularities remain at the edges, you have to drill many small holes and knock out pieces of material. When installing sockets, perforators with crowns for socket boxes for concrete are used.

The crown for the socket is a piece of a cylindrical pipe, having a border of segmented cutting parts with 5-16 teeth. Increasing the number of segments increases the speed and efficiency of drilling. The device consists of an adapter (flange) for connecting to the tool and a centering drill that goes into the wall and directs the movement of the edge.

Due to the design, the crowns easily penetrate the material, creating an even hole in 5 minutes. These nozzles can be used on both concrete and other surfaces made of stone (artificial and natural), brick or ceramic tiles. Drilling options:

  1. Unstressed. For it, a puncher or a drill with a crown installed is used. The method does not create significant vibrations and noise, allows cutting the reinforcement bars.
  2. Shock. The work is carried out with a high power perforator and special nozzles. When drilling in the center of the hole, the material is destroyed and then falls out. Drill bits cannot cope with reinforcement, therefore this option is not used with reinforced concrete structures.

The dimensions and diameters of crowns for concrete sockets are very important. The working part can be of different lengths - 60-550 mm. Its size is affected by the required drilling depth (minimum - 40 mm, standard - 60-65 mm). A diameter of 68 mm is usually used, the largest value is 74 mm. It is necessary to determine the size of the sockets themselves before purchasing a tool. It is better to take a crown with a slightly larger diameter if you are not sure about the size. The voids can be sealed with cement, and the socket box cannot be inserted into a small hole.

Products can be made of hard steel alloys with cobalt and tungsten soldering on the cutting edges. Low cost makes this type of concrete socket drill popular. The disadvantage of the device is the periodic delamination of soldering from the edge, so it is better not to use it with reinforced structures. Breaks in work, compliance with operating rules and changing nozzles will allow the product to last for a long time. You should also allow the soldering tips to cool before removing the tip.

Impactless bits coated with diamond grit on the cutting part can work with reinforced concrete. These edges create the most even holes and have no restrictions on the length of the drilling channel. Vibration and noise are at a low level. Drilling is faster and does not create much dust. Products can self-repair and are resistant to wear. Reducing work with reinforced sections prolongs the service life of the device.

Concrete socket bits are also made from tungsten carbide alloys. They are not suitable for reinforced concrete materials. The collision of the fixture with the armature disables the nozzle. Crowns are affordable and connect to a standard drill, but are highly susceptible to wear and need occasional sharpening. The cutters may have a different shank. It comes in several types:

Choice of shank desired types and size affects the type of tool.

Before buying products, you need to decide on the depth and diameter of the future hole for the outlet. The crowns must match the mounting boxes in size. The width of the finished hole exceeds the dimensions of the socket box by 1-2 mm, which contributes to its strong fixation.

If there is a large amount of work to be done, it is better to choose models with diamond coating. Buying products famous brands, such as Makita or Bosch, you are more likely to get a quality and reliable tool.

The nozzle must be smooth, without burrs and defects, and the coating must be strong, uniform and not crumbling. Crowns intended for wood should not be used when working with concrete. A drill is usually used with hex shanks and a rotary hammer with SDS products.

When drilling holes in concrete structures, a certain procedure must be followed. It includes the following steps:

  1. Selection of suitable crowns and tools.
  2. Applying pre-marking.
  3. Removal from the room of interior items that may become dusty. Heavy furniture can be covered with cloth or foil.
  4. Usage protective equipment: respirator, overalls, glasses, gloves.
  5. Turn on the drilling mode on the punch panel.
  6. Drilling holes according to the markup. The tool must be positioned evenly and without distortions, it is not necessary to press it into the material.
  7. Fragments remaining in the hole can be removed with a chisel or hammer.

When using a tool with low power, you can pre-drill small holes in diameter with a standard drill. After that, working with the crown will be easier.

The price is affected by the popularity of the brand, the type of edge and the type of material. For one-time work, you can buy cheap Chinese-made drills. Domestic models have long term services. With frequent and long-term use of crowns, it is better to buy foreign products from popular companies.

Devices coated with crushed diamonds are the most expensive and cost from 2 thousand rubles. Carbide options are priced at 620 rubles. Models based on tungsten carbide can be bought for 260 rubles.

For mounting junction boxes, sockets and switches with hidden electrical wiring, it is required to gouge recesses in a concrete or brick wall.

If you need to replace the electrical wiring throughout the house, or you plan to install electrical professional level, then you can not do without tools that significantly speed up the process and save physical strength.

Drill bit - a tool for professionals

Since socket boxes and mounting boxes are usually round, it is most convenient to drill such holes in a mechanized way.

The type of drill used to make these holes is called drill bit.

Its principle of operation is that the entire wall material is not selected, as in conventional drilling, but is cut in a circle to the required depth, after which the resulting cylinder of the remaining concrete in the wall falls off after impact, or is hollowed out with a chisel.

methods for drilling a hole for a socket with a crown

When using a high-quality crown and a powerful perforator drill, the entire process of wiring sockets is much faster than other methods. These holes, made with a crown, are neat, standardized, much less mortar is required to fix the sockets than when installed in a recess hollowed out with a chisel.

When buying a crown, be sure to familiarize yourself with the mode of its operation. The fact is that in the process of drilling concrete, the drill can operate in two modes: shockless and shock-rotary.

Shockless mode

The principle of cutting is the same as that of a circular diamond saw, therefore, diamond crowns are also used in this mode.

When the name is found in the catalog: “diamond crown for concrete sockets”, this means that the tips have cutting edges made of a composite material, which consists of carbide metals and many tiny inclusions of artificial diamond - corundum, which is almost as hard as natural diamond, but much cheaper than it.

diamond crown

A diamond drill bit does not require sharpening, but only with skillful handling will it last the entire period declared by the manufacturer, maintaining stable efficiency, which cannot be said about drills with victorious teeth, which become dull over time.

crown with victorious teeth

The holes are very precise, and iron inclusions in reinforced concrete are not a hindrance. Similar properties are possessed by a tungsten carbide crown for tiles, which also works in shockless mode.

crown with carbite-tungsten chips

The disadvantage of both tools is their high price and exactingness in drilling accuracy - when misaligned, the crown is clamped in the hole and at the same time all the power of the included drill is directed to the hands of the person holding the tool. The feed of the tool should not be strong.

Shock-rotational mode

In addition to rotation, the cutting edges of the drill make translational and reciprocal movements along the axis of the drill, thus breaking the concrete at the cut point. Holes from such drilling tools are less accurate than diamond bits, but cheaper core bits that are less sensitive to misalignment can be used.

Due to the runout, the rotary percussion bit is less likely to get stuck in the hole when the hammer is held unstable, so it is more suitable for beginners. A characteristic feature of this type of drills are carbide teeth around the circumference of the glass. It is absolutely not suitable for drilling reinforced concrete - when it hits the metal of the reinforcement, the teeth are destroyed and break off.

fittings caught when drilling the socket

Such crowns are produced with an SDS shank inserted into the clamping device of the perforator. Another disadvantage is strong vibration, which can crack the plaster on the walls and ceiling, so drilling with this bit should be done in a helmet and goggles.

bit with SDS shank

Effective drilling with this bit requires considerable force to feed the tool, so the worker must have physical strength and have a reliable point of support when drilling.

Structure and working method

The crown consists of a shank, which is inserted into a puncher or chuck of a drill, a center drill and a glass, along the edges of which cutting edges are placed. As a rule, the shank, drill and sleeve are collapsible - thus, you can select a bit for the desired size of the mounting box diameter.

The disassembled crown consists from right to left: glass, shank (drill chuck), center drill and bolt (for fixing the drill in the shank)

The center drill has a guiding function to accurately position the drill bit at the start of drilling and to maintain the correct direction.

assembled crown

More accurate results are achieved when drilling pilot holes with a slightly smaller diameter than the core bit. Passing through the drilled channel, the centering drill directs the entire drilling process in the indicated direction, as a result of which the recess under the socket is as accurate as possible.

The instructions for the tool always indicate both the operating mode and the drilling algorithm, adhering to which you can achieve maximum work efficiency and a long service life.

Experienced craftsmen advise that the size of the crown be slightly larger than the socket - this backlash will help level drilling inaccuracies and provide a layer of mortar.

Only quality tools

It is worth paying special attention to the quality of the drill - the service life and time of work, as well as the spent forces and electricity, depend on the strength of steel and the characteristics of hard-alloy elements.

Many novice electricians, trying to save money, buy cheap crowns, in which the teeth are noticeably smoothed already in the process of drilling several holes. Several times the teeth can be sharpened, but this will only give a temporary effect and accelerate the wear of carbide elements, after which this tool will fit only for porous foam concrete or drywall.

Therefore, when choosing and buying a crown, you should pay attention only to reputable manufacturers and their products, focusing on the search for goods, according to the reviews of experienced craftsmen, refusing a cheap fake, no matter how seductive its price is.

Safety

When drilling potentially dangerous concrete, you should follow the safety rules:

  • Drill the wall only after the upholstery of the plaster - under it there may be a pile of cables or other communications;
  • Never drill at the junction between concrete slabs - electrical wiring is often laid in them, moreover, the crown can jam;
  • To avoid injury, use only a two-handed hammer drill or drill;
  • Have a secure point of support during the drilling process and never work from a ladder;
  • Do not turn on the drill with a strongly pressed tool and increase the feed smoothly.

After the main construction processes associated with the construction of the house have come to an end, the next stage begins - the installation of electrical wiring. In addition, this problem can be encountered during major repairs. In order to build a power outlet, it is imperative to use a special element, which is called a crown for concrete sockets.

Design features of socket boxes

The socket box is a cylindrical box, which, after electric wire is installed in the outlet and fixed with a quick-hardening mixture. The element is intended for reliable fixation of electrical conductors of a hidden type. The mounting product is equipped with a technological hole for the output of wires.

The diameter of the part varies from 65 to 85 mm, with a depth of 42-47 mm, depending on the manufacturer. For example, if it became necessary to install a standard socket, with dimensions: Ø 68mm, depth 50mm, it is necessary to drill or drill a hole with an appropriate device equipped with a concrete bit with a diameter of 68mm and a functioning depth of 60mm.

Modification 68x50 mm is considered the most popular, as it fits most types of socket boxes.

At the same time, there are also larger wire elements, for the dimensions of which it is necessary to purchase a suitable drilling nozzle.

Understanding which model is better

When working with a drill to create holes in the walls, only two main types of nozzle crowns are used. Products differ in the material from which the cutting parts were made: diamond and carbide.

Carbide tip

Carbide nozzles for drilling concrete for sockets have design features of a collapsible type, the composition of which implies the presence of:

  • cylindrical body with welded cutting teeth located on the working part;
  • tails and an adapter, the purpose of which is to mount the product in a standard cartridge.
  • drill for a drill, which centers the cutting element, mounted on the tail with a fixing screw.

Composite alloys with a high degree of strength are used as the main alloy for the production of the cutting part of the model. The reverse side of the case box is equipped with a tail that allows you to securely install the product in the drill chuck. The lower region of the tail has a hole for mounting the drill.

The crown for concrete sockets of this modification belongs to the category of dry drilling with the additional use of a perforator in shock mode. The product is not cooled by low temperature liquid supply.

The main positive point in the use of carbide spare parts is the relatively low price. per element with standard parameters the cost varies between 400-900 rubles.

However, it should be remembered that the scope of the product has significant limitations. With this part, you can only make holes in a concrete wall, brickwork, a partition from foam concrete, aerated concrete. If during operation the teeth fall on large reinforcing bars or even mortar fractions, they will simply wear out or break.

Advice! In order to maximize the safety of using a crown for drilling concrete under a socket, you should use a detector that searches for metal in the wall before the drilling process. With its help, you can easily recognize places where it is not recommended to create recesses. Thus, it is possible to save not only the part from breakage, but also the structure itself from subsequent destruction.

Diamond coating on crowns

Diamond hole saws fall into two main categories:

  • Coolant;
  • For dry work.

Concrete hole saw for wet sockets is used exclusively with special drilling equipment that involves the supply of cold water, which removes the heat of the working element. It is used for drilling dense materials. For example, monolithic reinforced concrete, granite material or marble products.

The standard parameters for the length of the model are 45 cm, the diameter varies between 0.12-120 cm. The use of a diamond device for drilling concrete for sockets is advisable only in the industrial field of activity or during major repairs with maximum intensity of use.

The dry type of the model is intended for small-scale work. The parts are used in combination with a conventional drill or hammer drill that is not equipped with an impact option.

Despite the lower strength indicators, the dry element has a large number of advantages:

  • High performance resource;
  • Fast drilling of holes;
  • Application for a wall with a reinforced mesh is possible;
  • Minimal dust formation;
  • Does not cause masonry cracking;
  • Low noise reproduction.

By design features, diamond crowns for concrete have similar parameters with hard-alloy counterparts. The product is a cylindrical part of the pipe, equipped with a tail and cutting segments. The number of teeth varies between 3-8 units, firmly welded cold welding to the base.

To prevent overheating of the spare part, it is endowed with additional elongated slots, through which air cooling is carried out during operation. The cost per part varies from 1950 to 3350 rubles.

The diamond model can only be used with a hammer drill or drill that does not have an impact mode.

Tungsten Carbide Tool

This is the most economical type of all. It is mainly used for drilling stones, concrete, bricks, shell rock, ceramic tiles and other hard substrates. The combination of carbide and tungsten guarantees exceptional strength when working with stone, without the need to purchase additional tools. As a result, both the crown itself and work with it are profitable.

The peculiarity of this variety lies in the structure and a special hexagonal shank from the rear, due to which you can use a powerful tool for drilling (recommended - from 800 W).

The tungsten carbide bit cannot be used on reinforced concrete products. Direct contact with metal parts (reinforcement) instantly disables it.

The process of drilling sockets in the wall

  1. First of all, it is necessary to determine the location of the reinforcement in the wall. To do this, use a detector.
  2. Mark out the future location of sockets or light switches. Use a level, ruler and marker.
  3. Install the cutting element on the equipment.
  4. Make a small circular cut. In the case of using carbide spare parts, short breaks should be taken to avoid overheating of the working area of the product.
  5. Eliminate the rest of the wall that remains in the cutting part of the equipment. To do this, use a hammer, chisels or a flat drill built into the punch.
  6. Pull out all the necessary electrical wiring through the hole formed.
  7. Install the socket, fix with a quick-hardening adhesive solution.
  8. Install sockets or light switches.

A competent approach to the installation of socket boxes is considered the key to reliable fixation of any type of switches and safety in further operation. The socket base bit is the best tool for preparing holes for electrical wires.
