Story

In 1918 he was evacuated to Nizhny Novgorod. After the merger of this university with this institute and with the Higher Agricultural Courses, for the first time in the country it receives the status of a state university.

In 1921 there was a significant reduction in the number of faculties. On May 4, 1921, the Council of People's Commissars of the RSFSR issued a decree on the liquidation of all historical and philological faculties of the country and the organization of faculties of social sciences in their place. The number of teachers in 1922 is reduced from 239 to 156 people.

  • Mechanical Engineering Institute (in 1934 became part of),
  • Institute of Chemical Technology (in 1934 it became part of the Gorky Industrial Institute),
  • The Faculty of Education in 1930 was allocated to,

A year later, on November 11, 1931, the university was re-established, including 3 faculties: physics and mathematics, biology and chemistry. The building of the former theological seminary (now the building of the Faculty of Natural Geography of the Nizhny Novgorod State Pedagogical University on Minin and Pozharsky Square) became the educational and scientific base.

By 1932, the UNN had the following departments: physical, mechanical, zoological, botanical, chemical, and mathematical.

Since 1938, entrance exams were established and for the first time Gorky University conducted a recruitment of freshmen on a competitive basis.

On March 20, 1956, by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, Gorky State University was named after N. I. Lobachevsky.

Ratings

UNN them. N.I. Lobachevsky is in the top 800 of the best universities in the world according to the QS World University Rankings 2016, in the top 300 of the prestigious THE BRICS & Emerging Economies Rankings 2017, in the top 100 of the QS World University Rankings: BRICS 2016, occupies leading positions in many others international and Russian ratings. Also, Lobachevsky University for the first time entered the top 300 of the prestigious QS World University Rankings 2017 in Physics and Astronomy, taking a position in the range of 251-300. In other areas, the university is not included in the subject ranking.

Developments

In October 2016, university representatives announced the development of unique ceramic materials for spacecraft that can withstand high temperatures and radiation, thereby enabling interplanetary travel. UNN scientists are also implementing the Cyberheart and Cybertrainer projects.

The Cyberheart project involves the development of an intelligent software system for receiving, storing and analyzing cardiological data. Such a system will include a software package that allows for large-scale calculations that reproduce with high accuracy dynamic processes in the heart. At the same time, the device is able to receive reliable data on human cardiac activity in real time, as well as to simulate various effects (electrical, mechanical, optical and others), to test the effect of medicines. The development is able to recognize heart diseases based on the existing database.

"Cyberheart" has a graphical support system for data analysis in cardiology, a system for automatically developing methods for the possible treatment of specific patients, an ECG measurement system with sending results over a wireless network.

System "Cybertrainer" EOS (Electromyographic Optical System) is designed to monitor, visualize and correct human muscle activity. The complex consists of a suit with integrated myo-sensors. During physical activity, the sensor system takes information about the workload of the muscles of interest and projects the image onto augmented reality glasses. The system of tactile stimulation of individual muscles can correct movements in accordance with the recorded reference. Training even with a personal trainer does not reflect an objective picture of the work of human muscles.

Founded in 1916 as the People's University, UNN. Lobachevsky was lucky to become the very first university in Nizhny Novgorod. The very idea of the organization arose much earlier - in 1896, when the next world-famous Nizhny Novgorod fair was being prepared for the opening. Then this proposal was made a second time - ten years later, when the revolutionary transformations began, in 1906. However, before the opening had to wait another ten years. Today UNN them. Lobachevsky is one of the best universities in the country.

Story

In 1918, the issue of training specialists for the national economy of the region became most acute. By the decision of the Nizhny Novgorod Gubernia Executive Committee, the new university was included in the network of state universities. V. I. Lenin signed a decree that appeared legal act, thus legitimizing the birth of the UNN them. Lobachevsky.

Since September 1918, ten faculties of the university began their work. This is the Faculty of Professional Knowledge, Agronomy, Civil Engineering, Mechanical, Work Encyclopedia, Economics, Historical-Philological, Biological, Physical-Chemical and Mathematical. A little later - a month later - the Faculty of Medicine was opened in Sormov, where the branch of the UNN named after N.N. Lobachevsky with nine faculties.

Classic University

The time in the country was extremely difficult in all respects, especially in economic terms. Young Soviet Union had just begun his education, overcoming terrible devastation. Nizhny Novgorod State University named after N. I. Lobachevsky was almost closed. However, the local budget took over its maintenance, which is why it managed to survive.

By the thirties, industrialization began in the country, and on the basis of some faculties narrow-profile institutes were created: medical, construction, agricultural, pedagogical, chemical, and mechanical engineering. That is, the Nizhny Novgorod State University named after N.I. Lobachevsky has ceased to be a classical university. The situation worsened in 1931, when the NIFTI (Physical and Technical Research Institute) was included in the university.

Milestones

Fundamental universal knowledge in 1931, the university began to carry already as NSU, three faculties: chemistry, physics and mathematics and biology. Still, the first Soviet university (since 1918!) did not stop its existence as a classical university. He received the name of the great mathematician in 1956 and since then has become known as the UNN. Lobachevsky. Nizhny Novgorod became even more proud of its university when the university received an even higher award. In 1976 he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.

Today, the teachers of the UNN named after. Lobachevsky are known all over the world. Among them are more than three hundred and thirty doctors of sciences, nineteen corresponding members and full members of the Russian Academy of Sciences. And more than a thousand candidates of sciences, forty-eight honored scientists, forty-six laureates of State Prizes, Nobel Laureate- Honorary Doctor of UNN named after N.I. Lobachevsky. The faculties of this university are the base of the scientific center of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

victories

Thirty thousand people from ninety-seven countries of the world study today at UNN. Among them are more than nine hundred doctoral and postgraduate students. Excellent preparation allows the university to win international and All-Russian student Olympiads in various disciplines. Branches of the UNN Lobachevsky (there are eight of them: Arzamas, Balakhninsky, Borsky, Vyksunsky, Dzerzhinsky, Zavolzhsky, Pavlovsky and Shakhunsky) do not lag behind the main university, their "pupils" are also winners of the largest competitive programs which are aimed at the development of innovations and Russian education.

For example, in 2006, there was a victory in the competition among seventeen Russian universities in the priority national project "Education", and in 2009 UNN received the category of national research university. Seven projects were won, with the help of which it was possible to attract leading scientists to Russian universities. Nizhny Novgorod University won the competition dedicated to the development of cooperation between higher educational institutions and organizations implementing complex projects for the creation of high-tech production. Now UNN is participating in a program to increase the competitiveness of our universities among the world's leading scientific and educational centers.

Master's program at UNN Lobachevsky, applicants who already have a bachelor's degree or a specialist's degree can enter.

e-learning

UNN them. Lobachevsky very widely uses the principle of "open education", in particular, the system of education through electronic and information technologies. This method has a huge number of advantages, since it frees up the student a lot of time in order to earn a living and study or engage in creative work. scientific work. What is e-learning? First of all, these are self-study with materials contained on electronic media - a personal computer, PDA, mobile phone, and so on.

The student receives consultations, advice, assessments from an expert teacher through remote interaction. Teaching materials are delivered in a timely manner, and this also does not take time. In addition, there have long been certain standards for distance learning tools and specifications for all educational technologies and materials. E-learning UNN them. Lobachevsky provides not only in terms of obtaining a classical university education, training is organized here in many courses, including preparatory (plus ten points for the Unified State Examination!), and advanced training, and many others.

Advantages of distance learning

Teachers like this form of work because it helps to form an information culture, master modern technologies, and increase the efficiency of ordinary pedagogical activities. In addition, all educational web resources are being developed: electronic textbooks, technologies, and a range of educational services.

Students also like this form of education very much. When it is possible to get the necessary or additional materials from anywhere in the world, which modern Internet technologies allow, the study will move easily and quickly, in addition, there is always the opportunity to reinforce the acquired knowledge with the help of electronic manuals, turn in the completed assignment and consult online with the teacher .

Other benefits

Next to traditional education, electronic education has a long range of significant advantages. This, first of all, concerns freedom of access, that is, a student can study absolutely anywhere and even without interruption from professional activities. Training costs are significantly reduced. Training is flexible in terms of the sequence and duration of the study of the necessary materials. Here the student chooses on his own how and at what time he needs to study, that is, there is an opportunity to adapt the learning process to his own needs.

This is very convenient for the disabled, for young mothers with small children, for those who have found themselves in the profession and do not want to interrupt their experience. The opportunity to develop and keep up with the times is also worth a lot. All users of distance learning - both teachers and students - improve and increase their knowledge and skills in accordance with standards and modern technologies. E-learning courses will always allow you to update the educational material promptly and in a timely manner. In addition, all students receive equal opportunity, learning does not even depend on the quality of teaching, although at UNN it is always at a very high level. And the main thing for the student is the assessment of knowledge. The e-learning criteria are very clearly defined.

Undergraduate studies remotely

E-learning is based on the principles of autonomy under the watchful eye of teachers. After enrollment, students of UNN named after. Lobachevsky get Internet access to the UNN e-education system. The main information resource is methodically developed educational materials in electronic form, in content and volume corresponding to all the requirements of the educational standard of Russia.

The study of disciplines is moving according to the schedule. The student must master all theoretical material contained in electronic lectures, consulting, if necessary, with teachers, he also performs the necessary practical tasks, laboratory work. After that, it passes testing and intermediate certification (test or exam, here, most often, distance learning technologies are also involved). The educational activities of each undergraduate student are meticulously documented, teachers control the entire learning process and promptly correct it.

In person and remotely

The most interesting thing is that full-time students at UNN. Lobachevsky are trained using remote educational technologies. Each student has access to the above-mentioned electronic guided courses, and knowledge testing is traditionally carried out remotely.

In addition to future masters and bachelors, UNN. Lobachevsky trains graduate and doctoral students at the special Institute of Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies, which was established in 2003. Its main goal is to train scientific and pedagogical personnel of the highest qualification, and the contribution of the university to common system scientific-methodical and informational-analytical work is simply huge.

Lobachevsky. It has been in existence since 1916. From the very moment of its foundation, this educational institution has been a university. In the history of the university there was no change of status. However, quite often nowadays people use a slightly different name - the Lobachevsky Institute.

General information about the university

Lobachevsky University of Nizhny Novgorod is chosen by many people. About 30 thousand people study here. Students are not only residents of Nizhny Novgorod. Among them there are representatives of other cities and even countries. Applicants are attracted by a large selection and high quality of the educational process, which is organized by highly qualified teaching staff.

The Lobachevsky Institute over the years of its existence has accumulated rich experience and intellectual capital in applied and fundamental sciences. This allowed the university in 2008 to become a national research university. This is another reason why applicants choose this university, because many of them strive to learn science, want to get acquainted with existing achievements and make new discoveries.

The structure of the educational organization

Lobachevsky University includes the following structural units that take part in the educational process and student education:

  • faculties;
  • institutions;
  • graduate School.

Faculties can be divided into two groups. One of them is connected with science education, and the second - with social disciplines. Special attention deserves the Faculty of Sports and physical education.

Lobachevsky Institute: faculties providing science education

The university offers applicants to receive a natural science education, because doing science is not only interesting, but also prestigious. Thanks to it, traditional sectors of the economy are modernized, new inventions appear that improve modern life.

Having entered the Lobachevsky Institute, you can get a natural science education at one of the faculties:

  • chemical;
  • radiophysical;
  • physical.

Description of natural science faculties

The Faculty of Chemistry in the structure of Lobachevsky University has existed since 1944. He trains specialists for the chemical and petrochemical industries, pharmaceutical, radio-electronic enterprises. Education here is conducted in such areas as "Chemistry", "Chemical Technology", "Ecology", "Applied and Fundamental Chemistry", "Chemical Technology of Materials, Single Crystals and Electronic Products".

The Faculty of Radiophysics has been functioning in the structure of a higher educational institution since 1945. There are more than 800 students who have chosen "Radiophysics", "Information Technology and Fundamental Informatics", "Electronics and Radiophysics", "Physical Electronics and Fundamental Radiophysics".

The Faculty of Physics has been operating since 1959. It offers a quality education to those applicants who decide to develop in the field of physics. The structural unit works closely with the Research Institute of Physics and Technology of Lobachevsky University and scientific and educational centers (their names are "Physics of Solid State Structures" and "Nanotechnologies").

Faculties related to social disciplines

A significant part of applicants, when entering the university, chooses those structural units that are not related to natural science education. We are talking about faculties related to the social sciences. These include:

  • Faculty of Philology;
  • Faculty of Law;
  • Faculty of Social Sciences.

The listed structural units are quite large in terms of the number of students. People come here because the specialties offered by the faculties are considered modern, prestigious and in demand.

Description of faculties related to social sciences

The Faculty of Humanities has been leading its history since 1918. After the founding of the university, it was just a department. It was part of the Faculty of History and Philology. A few decades later, the humanitarian department began to develop along its own path. Today, here training is conducted in 4 areas of training - "Philology", "Public Relations and Advertising", "Journalism", "Publishing".

For applicants who want to be guardians of law and order in the future, the Lobachevsky Institute created a law faculty. This is one of the largest structural divisions of the university. Over a thousand students study here. The educational process is organized at the highest level. The faculty has lecture halls, a computer class, a forensic laboratory. Students, if necessary, can visit the library, use Internet access and the Consultant Plus information and reference system.

One of the youngest structural units at the university is the Faculty of Social Sciences. It has been operating since 1996 and trains specialists to work with people. Proposed areas of training - "Psychology", "Philosophy", "Sociology", "Psychology of official activity", " Social work”, “Personnel management”, “Management”.

Faculty of Sports and Physical Education

This structural unit has been preparing students since 2001, but if you look at the history of the university, you can see that attention was previously paid to physical education here. In the structure of the educational organization there was a special department that has been operating since 1948.

The Lobachevsky Institute has about 700 students at this faculty. At the bachelor's degree, they study in the direction of "Physical Culture" (the profile of study is related to management in this area). Graduates of the structural unit are specialists-managers. They know the sport "from the inside", they can solve financial and managerial issues. Such personnel are needed. The fact is that earlier the above-mentioned issues were solved by physical culture, but they did not have sufficient knowledge for this.

Institutions that are part of the university

Among the structural units of an educational organization there are many institutions:

  1. World history and international relations. This division was formed in 2013. It prepares the political, intellectual and business elite for work in the field of political science, international relations, tourism, etc.
  2. Entrepreneurship and Economics. The Lobachevsky Institute created this unit in 2014 when 3 faculties were merged. It trains specialists for the fields of economics, management, law and finance.
  3. Biomedicine and Biology. Established in 2014, the institute offers applicants to receive biological education. Available directions - "Nature management and ecology", "Biology".
  4. Mechanics, mathematics and information technology. The Institute has been operating within the structure of Lobachevsky University since 1964. Its graduates become developers of complex science-intensive software, get jobs in IT companies.
  5. Human health and rehabilitation. The Institute was founded in 2015. Its goal is to train qualified specialists and conduct research in the field of medical rehabilitation.
  6. military education. This institute was founded in 2008. It provides military training to students and includes a military department and a military center.

Higher School of Applied and General Physics

This structural unit is considered a faculty. It was created by the Lobachevsky Institute (Nizhny Novgorod) in 1991 on the basis of the institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences. By enrolling here, you can get the profession of a research physicist, and then work in such areas as biomedical technology, astrophysics, high-power electronics, nanotechnology and nanophysics.

Studying in high school is interesting, but difficult. Small groups are specially formed here so that it is convenient for teachers to work with students. Particular attention is paid to the study of English language and information technologies. After completing their studies, graduates can build themselves great career not only in Russia, but also abroad.

Passing points to the Lobachevsky Institute, address of the educational organization

Applicants are always interested in passing scores upon admission. However, the university never names them for the current year, because they are not set on purpose. The Lobachevsky Institute determines the passing scores during the admission campaign, depending on the following factors:

  • on the number of submitted applications;
  • on the number of free places available in a particular area of training;
  • from the number of applicants who are provided with benefits under the law;
  • on the level of knowledge of applicants, the number of points received for entrance tests and exams;
  • from the number of original documents submitted within the established time limits.

For applicants of the city and persons who came to Nizhny Novgorod, the Lobachevsky Institute provides passing scores of the last year for review. If, for example, we analyze the results for 2016, we can draw the following conclusions:

  • the maximum passing score (277) was in the direction of "Foreign Regional Studies", but it is worth noting that for people entering this area of training, 4 entrance exams were provided;
  • a slightly lower passing score was in the areas of "International Relations" (266) and "Jurisprudence" (259);
  • low passing scores were in the areas of "Mechanics and Fundamental Mathematics" (134) and "Physics" (135).

Persons who decide to enroll in this educational organization should remember its address. The Institute is located in Nizhny Novgorod on Gagarin Ave., 23. You can ask questions of interest by calling the secretariat admission committee. His number is on the website of the university.
