We offer simple and more complex do-it-yourself drawings of a bunk bed. Do-it-yourself bed-house for children (6 photos) Children's Scandinavian bed house do-it-yourself drawings

IN modern world original children's beds become the most popular and demanded. Their choice is presented on the world market in huge quantities. Everyone can find a baby bed according to their taste and color, taking into account all the preferences of the child.

How to make a do-it-yourself bed-house

Beds can be presented in the form of cars, boats, animals, ships, planes and much more.
But what's better than a baby bed made with my own hands, in the manufacture of which the love and affection of parents are invested, who so want to please their child. Therefore, it is possible not to purchase furniture, but to make it yourself. This is especially true for the bed-house. Since such furniture is not difficult to make, and this process will not take too long. If you have never made a blizzard with your own hands, you can not worry that something will not work out for you. Since the manufacture of a bed-house does not require any special skills and abilities.

The choice of materials for manufacturing

Depending on what shape your furniture will be, select the appropriate material. For the frame of your bed, you will need a beam. The cross section of the beam should be 5 * 5 centimeters. How many required material you will need, depends on the dimensions of the future furniture.

If you want to make an inexpensive house bed, then you can make furniture in the shape of a tent. If you choose this option, then you will need to make walls and a roof in the form of a frame-frame, for which a canopy will be needed. On canopy day, any lightweight fabric can be used.

You can make a canopy with your own hands to save the budget. And also it can be sewn for you to order, if you do not have free time to make a canopy yourself.

The walls and roofs of the bed in the form of a house are usually made of plywood or ordinary boards. From plywood you can make any detail for a future bed. If you decide to make from plywood, then experts recommend purchasing birch plywood, the thickness of which is 0.7 or 1.3 cm.

If you do not want to make parts out of wood, then drywall is a great option. From drywall, you can make a niche for furniture, as well as make decor in the form of a house. To do this, you will need to cut openings from drywall for future windows of the house, as well as an opening for the door to the house. A place to sleep is installed inside the resulting house.

Attention! The easiest way to work with drywall, because it can be cut with an ordinary clerical knife, without putting too much effort. The downside of drywall is that it is difficult to seal the seams and joints during the finishing of the installation.

Required Tools

In order to make furniture in the form of a house with your own hands, you will need the following tools:

  • hacksaw;
  • screwdriver;
  • drill;
  • simple pencil;
  • ruler;
  • square;
  • sandpaper;
  • a set of screws;
  • a set of bolts;
  • panels;
  • slats;
  • special glue for wood.

How to take measurements and drawings

The manufacture of a bed-house should be approached with all responsibility. Everything needs to be carefully thought out and prepared. correct diagram and make correct measurements of future furniture.

In the drawing, it is required, in accordance with the measurements made, to correctly enter the number of parts and elements that will make up the bed-house. It is also necessary to write the dimensions of each part, as well as the method of attachment.

Please note that the size of the frame is similar to the size of the mattress. Therefore, before you make furniture, you must first purchase a mattress for the bed.

The dimensions of the bed are directly related to the age of your child, for whom the furniture is made. If the bed is made for a child preschool age, then the dimensions of the bed - the house should be 1300 * 750 * 1400 mm. For school-age children, the dimensions of the bed are 1600*900*1700 mm.

Important points before assembling the bed-house

Before proceeding with the assembly of the bed, parents need to decide in advance whether there will be boxes in the bed or whether it will be without them. Some parents prefer the space under the bed to be free, while others prefer to make the furniture as functional and roomy as possible. Therefore, such parents give their preference to a bed-house with built-in drawers.

Before assembling furniture, you need to decide on the choice of drawers built into future furniture. Boxes can be of two types: on wheels or on rails. It is recommended to make boxes on rails, as this is a more advantageous option, the floor will not deteriorate and the structure will be more durable. Also, you should decide how many boxes will be installed at the bottom of the bed-house.

Also, parents should make a choice on a certain design of furniture for the child. You will first need to decide on the choice of form for a place to sleep. If you have Small child, then it is recommended to make low single-tier beds. If you have more than one child, then it is better to make two floors into houses with stairs.

Worth remembering! Such furniture should be absolutely safe for your child. In order for the bed to be more stable, it is necessary sleeping area do without legs so that it is on the floor. Having made such a choice, you can be sure that such furniture will withstand any weight. The advantage is that the child will not fall from a low crib.

Bed-house on your own: step by step

Before you start making a bed-house, you must first make the basis for future furniture.

Crib base

First you need to make a base. This requires four bars, the length of which should be 1300 mm each. This design will serve as a vertical support for the bed. After you have fixed and secured the bar, you need to cut off a small part at the top of each bar at an angle of 45 degrees. Such a procedure is needed for a future roof with slopes.

Before sawing a piece from the bars, it is necessary to mark with a pencil, using an ordinary ruler, a part of the cut. It is necessary to cut down using hacksaws.

Roof for the house

In order to make the roof of the house, you will need four bars, the length of which should be 730 mm. After the bars are fixed, you need to cut a part of the bar on top of each bar at an angle of 45 degrees. Be sure to go over the sandpaper in the places where you cut the bars so that your child does not get hurt on them.

The support is made from scraps of bars. Everything must be attached to the roof ridge. It is necessary to take glue and attach the upper part of the ridge to the entire workpiece of future furniture.

Vertical joints and supports will need to be glued. Moreover, this procedure must be repeated several times. After all, the upper part of the house must be planted on self-tapping screws, the length of which should be 40 mm. Self-tapping screws should be screwed at least 4 mm from the line of the two components of the roof.

After doing these actions, we will see the final outlines of the entire structure.

Frame fixing

In order to complete the work with the end of the house, you need to screw the bar to the bottom of the structure. The length of which will be 830 mm. This beam will serve as a baluster. Which will hold the entire mass of the house.

For such a discreet installation, it is necessary to drill holes in the bottom of the furniture (in the bar) using 11 mm drills. drilled hole should be in the middle on the crossbar. Remember that the hole should be through.

Then, you will need to drill a hole in the middle of the bar itself using a 6 mm drill. It is necessary to place a screw in the resulting hole, and then fix it all with a coupler.

You can also use not short screws, but long ones. But it is necessary to pre-treat them with a sticky substance.

Assembling the base of the house

In order to make the base of the house, it is necessary to use thick bars. Such bars should be identical in size to the sides of the bed. WITH inside it is necessary to fasten to the bars using self-tapping screws, thin strips.

It must be remembered that the screws must be placed at the same distance. Such plates are a support for the manufactured frame of the house, which supports the very bottom of the furniture.

It is necessary to make templates from the bar in advance, the length of which should be 6 centimeters. It is necessary to make several holes for self-tapping screws in a wooden block. The distance between each hole made must be at least 25 mm.

On the inside of the rack, mark the place for the hole in which the eccentric will be located. Such a hole is made with a drill, and then it is necessary to screw 10 cm self-tapping screws into it.

Pay close attention to the joints. After all the procedures in the holes on lower tier it is necessary to fill in the gluing liquid, and tighten with bolts.

Reference! This procedure must be done with all the components of the structure, and then connect all the parts into a single whole.

Fixing the frame for the future crib

It is necessary to attach well the entire component of the furniture. For this you will need four bars. The length of each of them should be 1660 mm.

Remember that the length of the beams is equal to the length of the sides of the bed. All components are attached using glue and screws. Reinforce the entire structure using angled fasteners.
Using a photo, you can make your own bed-house for a child.

Slatted furniture bottom

Reiki need to be strengthened on the slats. On the sides of the slats, fasten to the four sides of the entire component of the crib. It is necessary to fasten all the details well, so that the screws do not stick out. For the bottom of a universal mattress, 14 rails will need to be used.

Such furniture made for your child on your own is not only good safety, but also the realization of all your dreams for a child.

Sometimes it's nice to do something for your children yourself. In this case, it is possible to do something non-standard, for yourself and as you like. The children are growing up and it was time for them to give up their bedroom - a small room. To save space, we decided that there would be a bunk bed. And then the wife began to throw off links to cots-houses. I want that! Their prices are quite decent. I looked, figured, read about the material. And I came to the conclusion that I could make such a bed myself and much cheaper. I made a model, taking into account the standard lumber from Leroy, wrote down the quantity and dimensions and went to buy. I work in a small firm and we have, so to speak, a small room for creativity. The boss allows you to do something for yourself there, and you can borrow some tools. Therefore, I made a crib after work and on Saturdays.

Well, the work began. We mark, we saw, we plan.

We make grooves in the right place.

Here we try on, we customize.

Marking the facade in place and subsequent sawing.

Trial assembly of the entire structure.

After that, I no longer photographed the process itself. But everything was assembled, 2 orthopedic bases were purchased separately. Completed roof and stairs. There is a sunroof on the roof near the head so that it does not get hot there. Initially, a box was conceived under the crib and blanks were sawn, but so far it has not been done. Then everything was disassembled and painted. I packed everything and brought it home. At home, it took 2 evenings to assemble and this with the help of my daughter (4 years old).
The younger also periodically twisted something with a screwdriver, sometimes trying to break the coating.

Here's what happened. Looking at the result, I would change something, but in general, the children are happy (and this is the main thing!) And they sleep and play there with pleasure. The daughter still sometimes says thank you for the house and tries to help her younger brother climb to the second floor.
What I want to say. There is nothing complicated in this, you just need to want and do it. The eyes are afraid, but the hands are doing. Good luck to all!

Do-it-yourself children's bed: drawings, photos, manufacturing material

It is difficult to overestimate the importance of adequate sleep for the health of the child. Therefore, it is so important to get a comfortable and safe bed. By the way, it is not necessary to buy furniture for arranging a children's bedroom, because you can assemble it yourself. Read on to find out how to do it right.

Crib elements

Before proceeding with the manufacture of a children's bed, let's decide what distinguishes it from adult counterparts. Among the distinguishing features:

  • Dimensions. Mattresses for children's beds are shorter and narrower than their adult counterparts (see table of standard sizes for sleeping mattresses).
  • Number and location of beds. The bed in children's furniture is not made double, more often these are single structures. If you need to accommodate two children, a two-tier structure is going to be built.
  • Operational safety. High-quality furniture for a children's room does not have sharp corners and traumatic parts.
  • decorative design. Furniture for a children's room should be boring and visually attractive to the child.

Let's summarize the above points. A children's bed is made from the same elements as adult counterparts, that is, it uses a supporting frame around the perimeter, mattress holder slats, a mattress, etc. But, all these elements are smaller and made of environmentally friendly materials.

Elements in the design of children's furniture are rounded at the corners and painted in bright colors. An important point - to ensure safety in the design of most children's beds, high sides are used. The use of such elements is mandatory in cribs for children under the age of 3 years.

Deciding on a model

The choice of the design of the children's bed determines:

  • Children's age. The dimensions of the bed depend on age - the older the child, the larger the bed.
  • Amount of children. For one child, a single-tier bed is built, and with an increase in the number of children, the number of tiers increases.
  • Gender of the child. The gender of the child affects the decorative design of furniture.
  • Room features. In a spacious nursery, you can install several single-tier beds, and in a cramped room, the structure is built in several tiers.
  • Project budget. Material possibilities determine what materials furniture can be assembled from.

Basic details of wooden beds

The design of a single single-tiered children's bed consists of a supporting frame, which is assembled from boards and encircles the product around the perimeter. At the corners of the supporting frame there are vertical supports that act as legs and the function of side holders.

In the upper part of the supports, horizontal boards are fixed - sides. Bumpers for older children are installed on three sides of the bed, and for younger children on four.

Along the inner perimeter of the frame, lamellas are fixed, on which the mattress will be held. At the bottom of the bed there is a free space in which there are drawers for storing linen and bedding.

The design of a bunk bed repeats the design of a single-tier structure with the difference that two beds are held on the same supports. In order to make it easy to climb to the second tier, a ladder is used in the design. To ensure safety, the side of the second tier is located on four sides.

materials

Illustrations Materials and their description

Solid wood lumber. Boards, timber, furniture panels are all-wood environmentally friendly materials that I recommend primarily for assembling children's furniture.

Metal. Children's beds can be assembled from rolled metal, provided that the welds are neat.

Chipboard (chipboard). Particleboard is not the best option in terms of environmental safety. But due to the affordable price, laminated chipboard is still the most popular and sought-after material to this day.

Oriented Strand Board (OSB). In terms of environmental safety, OSB is worse than chipboard, since the formaldehyde content in these boards is higher. If OSB is used for the manufacture of furniture, then provided that the surface is covered with several continuous layers of varnish.

Fiberboard - auxiliary material. Fibreboard (Fibreboard) is used as a structural material, which drawers are lined from below or covered with a bed on top.

About fasteners

If you are making a bed from lumber or particle boards, you will need confirmations for fastening - universal fasteners in the form of screws with an increased thread pitch. In order to ensure greater strength for mounting on confirmations, you can use dowels - wooden chopsticks that are driven into pre-drilled holes.

You will also need l-shaped corner perforated plates and self-tapping screws to fix them.

On sale are ordinary corner mounts and reinforced with scarves on the fold, as shown in the photo. When choosing, we prefer reinforced plates, as they are stronger and more reliable.

About fittings

A baby bed is a simple structure, where the list of special fittings is limited to guides for folding the front wall, a pendulum mechanism for rocking cradles, etc. With self-assembly, you can limit yourself to rollers for drawers, as well as hinges and latches for a folding front wall.

Required Tool

The choice of tool depends on what the furniture will be assembled from. To work with lumber, you need a basic set of carpentry equipment, including a drill, a screwdriver, a jigsaw, a milling cutter, a 5 mm hex wrench, and a measuring tool. You will also need free space on which you can cut out the necessary parts and then assemble them together.

wooden bed

After we have decided on the choice of materials, fasteners and accessories, we will consider how to assemble wooden furniture for a children's room with our own hands. As an example, I offer assembly instructions for a typical bunk bed shown in the drawing.

The design, assembled according to the proposed scheme, is durable, neat and at the same time budget in terms of materials. Most importantly, it is easy to make such a bed yourself, even if such work is done for the first time.

Illustrations Making a crib with drawers

Materials and tools. To assemble this bed, you need pine or beech boards with a section of 35 × 100 mm and 25 × 100 mm. Woodworking requires Miter saw, milling cutter, drill, key for confirmations, screwdriver.

Cutting out the details. From the board 35 × 100 we cut 4 blanks 1900 mm long, 4 blanks 1810 mm long and 4 blanks 800 mm each. On blanks 1810 mm long, we make grooves 35 × 100 mm as shown in the photo.

We make legs (supports). As shown in the photo, in the grooves of the vertical supports we attach the transverse crossbars, which will be the head and foot of the bed on the upper and lower tiers.

Bed assembly and ladder installation. After the end nodes of the bed are ready, we attach the longitudinal boards of the safety barriers.

In the inner perimeter of the upper and lower beds, we install lamellas - mattress holders. We assemble a ladder from a board and a rounded bar; if there is no round bar, a step can be made from a board.

Installing drawer fronts. We assemble the boxes from the board as a rectangular frame, along the bottom of which the bottom is fixed.

For convenience and safety of operation, we make the facades of drawers without handles with recesses, as shown in the photo. At the bottom of the drawers we attach roll-out rollers.

Let's take a closer look at the operations that you will encounter during assembly.

Illustrations Assembly process details

We screw in confirmations. To screw the confirmation, we drill a hole - for this we use a drill with a special cutter. If there is no special drill, we drill a hole with a length of confirmation and a diameter of 3 mm. Then we expand the edge of the hole made to 5 mm to a depth of 5 mm and get a sweat under the head of the confirmation.

We screw the confirmation so that its head is completely recessed into the wood. Subsequently, the mounting hole will be closed with a decorative plug.

Dowel holes. To install the dowel, holes of the appropriate diameter are drilled in the parts to be joined, most often 6 or 8 mm. The depth of the hole in each of the connected parts is 15 or 20 mm (depending on the length of the dowel).

The dowel is driven into the wood with or without preliminary application of glue.

Making the base for the mattress. To install an orthopedic mattress, you can purchase ready-made lamellas, like those shown in the photo, or you can cut the same pieces of boards yourself.

Along the inner perimeter of the bed, a barrier is made from a bar, on which prepared lamellas are laid.

The base of the slats is suitable for hard mattresses. If the mattress is soft, the base is not made of lamellas, but of a solid plywood sheet.

Installation of hinged facades. As an alternative to drawers, hinged fronts can be installed at the bottom of the bed. Installation of facades is carried out on conventional adjustable hinges.

Bed decoration. Finished furniture can be stained and varnished if it is wooden. In other cases, painting is the preferred option.

Alternatively, a bed made of wood or chipboard can be upholstered with a fabric with pre-glued foam rubber.

Homemade car bed

Illustrations Assembling the car bed

load-bearing frame. From furniture board a rectangular frame is assembled - a box. Gaps imitating a radiator grill, headlights, etc. are cut from one of the ends of the box with an electric jigsaw.

Imitation windshield. Openings are made on the sides of the body through which the child will get inside the structure. At the distance at which the hood is supposed to end, we fasten the frame assembled from the rails.

Installing the drawer lid. On the piano hinge in front of the bed is attached to the lid of the bedding box, imitating the lid of the hood. At the same stage, wheel disks are attached to the sides.

Mattress holders. A plywood sheet is installed inside the assembled box, on which the mattress is laid.

Priming and painting. After the bed is assembled, the surface is primed and painted.

Given the complex design of furniture, to work with paintwork materials it is preferable to use a brush. The choice of paint is unimportant, the main thing is that it is completely dry before use.

Summing up

Now you know how and what to make a baby bed. If according to the proposed step by step guide If you have any questions, ask them in the comments to the article.

Toddlers are not chasing maximum likelihood; for them, a certain visual similarity is more important in the presence of an element of a fairy tale. That is why every child dreams of his own home - he does not perceive his own room as such. At home, you can build a temporary house of chairs and a blanket, but it is not very believable, and it is not eternal. In the presence of personal plot you can build a real tree house, it will cause a storm of delight in the child, but not even every dad can do this with his own hands. But the children's bed-house is a solution that allows you to make your baby happy without any extra effort.

Features and Benefits

Of the common things for all beds-houses, one can only distinguish that they all have a sleeping place, they all resemble a house - one way or another. Everything else depends solely on the specific model and the imagination of its designer.

Such furniture can be more like a bed, or more like a house. In the first case, a kind of roof imitating a gable roof is placed on an ordinary bed. In the second case, the product is a full-fledged house, which is sometimes even taken out to a sufficient height to make it useful to use the space under it. This house has a bed. There are also more complex designs designed for two children and equipped with additional devices (like simple horizontal bars, wall bars, and so on).

It should be noted that a children's house bed is considered more popular among girls, as boys more often prefer a typewriter bed.

This does not stop manufacturers - they produce models with designs for both young ladies and future men.

Types and styles

Although the house bed seems to be an invention that does not allow design ideas to roam, hundreds of variations of this type of furniture have been created today, each of which is significantly different from its counterparts. In order to “push” parents away from an overly standard approach to the issue, it is worth exploring in more detail what these beds are like.

So, the house can be rather a decoration for the bed, just as the bed can only be an addition to the house. Another thing is that even the decoration of the house can look completely different: from a formal frame that imitates gable roof, to the unusual paneling of the bunk bed that looks like a tropical bungalow. Often, large structures are made with a playhouse - it is inseparable from the bed, but it also provides for a purely play area inside itself. A large house for two, made in two "floors", can also be equipped with a slide for descending from top to bottom.

Do not think that the bed is strictly inside the house, and on top is the roof. There are beds with a house below. The sleeping place is located, as it were, on top of the house, while inside it is exclusively a play space. It's like a bed in the attic. If the bed is still located below, then there is usually nothing above, and it is strictly forbidden to climb on the roof.

Design Options

An additional advantage of children's beds-houses is also the fact that their wide range makes it easy to pick up interesting things. design solution for any interior and any style.

The simplest option is a frame assembled from individual support beams. Some manufacturers do not even cover such a frame with a roof - it is assumed that fabric will serve as the material for it, which can either be purchased from the manufacturer itself or cut out independently, at your own discretion. However, more often the roof is still made of the same material as the entire bed as a whole.

As for the walls, here the variety of options is even wider. The simplest of them is a fabric stretched over a frame, or no walls at all, just supports. In models for young children, walls are often not provided, since babies are uncomfortable in a small enclosed space, but there are special railings that can be removed as the child grows up.

A good option- these are "real" walls of varying degrees of strength. Such a solution can look like anything, but more often it is still given an external resemblance to a real house, although houses can have the most diverse design.

Material

When choosing a baby bed-house, attention should be paid to the material even more than when choosing an ordinary baby bed. The period of use of such furniture usually does not exceed several years, so this attitude is not caused by the desire to extend the life of the product, but by safety requirements.

Even if we are talking about a small formal add-on over an ordinary bed, there is always a risk that the baby will break the supports made of fragile material with his pampering. So the structure (albeit not too heavy) will fall right on it. If we talk about those houses that provide for the location of the bed (especially - play area) at the second level, then the requirements for the quality of materials are prohibitively high, because children will probably jump and play pranks there, and it’s good if they are alone.

Such high requirements narrow the range of materials acceptable for use to actually one - usually this type of furniture is made from solid wood. MDF is less common - this material is also acceptable, it is cheaper and almost as strong, but still the load on it should be reduced. The design of the boards has the right to exist, but it is advisable to trust them only with decor. Finishing the topic of materials of wooden origin, it can be noted that chipboard is not suitable at all - it is toxic.

As for non-wood materials, they are also not widely used. In terms of strength, some metal would be perfect, but it is cold, there is no proper feeling of comfort. The total weight of such a metal structure is very significant. Plastic is appropriate in some places, especially as decorative elements, but before buying, be sure to ask the seller to show the certificates. Some inexpensive types of this material are also toxic.

Popular brands

To set a general direction, you should familiarize yourself with the manufacturers of beds-houses that are most in demand on the domestic market, and also find out what is the general tone of reviews about their products.

IN better side distinguished products of the famous Swedish company Ikea. Outwardly, of course, everything looks rather modest - this is just the case when the manufacturer did not take care of the presence of stationary walls and a roof. There is only a frame here, which can be covered with an awning produced by the same company.

The peculiarity of the house is the presence of two floors at once, one of which is reserved for a sleeping place, and the other is intended for games. The creators deliberately did not make any hints about which floor was created for what - this moment was left at the discretion of the consumer.

The company emphasizes its desire to develop and make products better every year - as an achievement, the fact that plastic parts are no longer used in its furniture is presented. At the same time, a crib is made of chipboard - even if it is of high quality, the question of whether it is worth taking this remains open.

But the only Russian supplier that has collected a sufficient number of reviews on the Internet has received mostly criticism. Judging by the mass commenting, the choice in favor of brand products "Legend" made by many, the reason for which was a very attractive appearance of the goods. At the same time, the commentators themselves note that furniture made from chipboard has no place in the nursery. In addition, the visually beautiful crib is distinguished by a rather unpleasant smell of glue. This is unpleasant even for an adult, and even more so for a child.

How to choose?

If you are going to purchase this or that model, pay attention to whether it meets the main criteria for choosing a children's bed-house. Here are the main points to pay attention to:

  • Safety. The health of the child is above all! Always study the quality of the materials from which the product is made. We are talking about the strength of the base material, the reliability of fasteners, and also that no part of the crib emits toxic substances.

Another important point: the house should be carefully polished, it should not have sharp corners. If the purchase is made for a very small child, the crib must also be protected with railings.

  • Convenience. Absolutely everything in the house should be comfortable, starting with its size. The house should not be too cramped, otherwise bumps cannot be avoided. An optional, but important factor is the ability to invite friends "to visit", because it is much better to play with a company, and an ideal house should be able to shelter everyone.

Certain advantages can also be seen in removable walls and ceilings - they are very convenient to remove for washing. In addition, while restoring order inside the house, it is quite practical to remove them - this reduces the risk of injury due to active movements in a narrow space.
