Gas boiler connection. Gas boiler connection diagram

People who live in apartment buildings, have repeatedly encountered such a problem as a delay in turning on the central heating or a sudden shutdown of the DHW. Naturally, this entails a lot of inconvenience. If you do not want to put up with this kind of discomfort, then you definitely need to think about buying a gas unit that will make your home autonomous in terms of heating and hot water.

Having decided to install a water-heating gas boiler in the apartment, you will not leave the solution of your comfort issues in the hands of public utilities. From now on, at the onset of the first cold weather, you can instantly start the heating system. What can we say about such an advantage as uninterrupted hot water supply.

Of course, it is not enough just to get a gas boiler. After purchasing the equipment, it must be properly installed. Complete with equipment, an instruction is provided, in which the connection diagram must be indicated. gas boiler. Installation must be carried out in full accordance with the requirements of the technical documentation. That is why, if you are not sure that you will be able to do everything right with your own hands, it makes sense to contact a specialist for whom the gas boiler connection diagram is familiar to anyone.

What needs to be done first?

Installation, connection and first start-up of a gas boiler is a rather complex set of works. First of all, you need to decide where exactly the device will be located. An important factor affecting the location of the equipment is the type of boiler. In particular, floor-type units are installed in a specially designated boiler room. This is necessary mainly for security reasons. If we talk about wall-mounted units, then most often they are mounted in a kitchen or plumbing unit.

The person involved in the installation is obliged to comply with fire safety conditions.

What are these conditions?

Any scheme for connecting a gas boiler provides that the minimum distance from the unit to other gas appliances should be at least twenty centimeters. If you purchased a volatile device, then it is recommended to place it near a source of electricity. In addition, fire safety experts do not recommend installing the unit near a window. The optimal distance from the boiler to the nearest wall should be within 30-50 centimeters.

Connection subtleties

Today, manufacturers of gas burner equipment produce heaters in a variety of modifications. For this reason, the sequence of outputs and the dimensions of the components cannot be foreseen. This information can be found in the instructions that come with the equipment. However, it is possible to describe the details that are used in the process of connecting the unit. We are talking primarily about ball valves. The main function of such structures is to turn off the mains during the repair process.

An important element that is in any gas boiler connection scheme is a water filter, which must be installed if the system provides metal pipes. If you use plastic or any other lines, then the filter can be installed in front of the water meter.

If used typical scheme piping of a double-circuit heating boiler, then the filter must be installed on the return pipe of the heating system. So you can avoid getting foreign objects into the unit. Installation of this design is carried out with the nut down on a horizontal section of the pipeline.

After the filters are installed, it's time to start installing the taps, which will be used for preventive flushing of the system and dismantling the structure. If the connection diagram of a double-circuit gas boiler does not provide for the presence of horizontal sections, then installation can be done in a vertical position.

Sweeps are also important elements heating system, which are used to quickly disconnect the boiler from the pipes, as well as to replace some of the main components. In addition, they are needed to facilitate the installation as a whole.

The magnetic filter is necessary to prevent the formation of scale in the heat exchanger. By installing it, you can avoid a lot of breakdowns in the future. Experts recommend installing it directly in front of the boiler. However, some manufacturers offer other mounting schemes.

We all know that the quality of the fuel that enters the heating system is not always ideal. To clean the gas from dust, scale and other impurities, a gas filter is installed immediately after the gas cock. This important element is simply necessary if you want to significantly extend the life of the equipment.

Most experts insist on installing a gas filter.

The scheme for connecting a double-circuit gas boiler to the piping scheme also provides for the presence of a flexible corrugated hose, specially designed for making such connections. Therefore, do not ignore this installation step.

If you want your boiler to serve you as long as possible and without any problems, then install the equipment correctly, guided by the recommendations of specialists and the manufacturer. Those who are not sure of their own professionalism can be advised to turn to specialists without trying to do everything with their own hands.

How does a gas machine work?

Each heating boiler is designed for space heating. The principle of its operation is quite simple: sensors, estimating the temperature of the coolant in the heating system, start the burner. Passing through the heat exchanger, the water is heated. After that built-in circulation pump sends it directly to the highway. Having passed through the entire heating system, the already cooled coolant is sent back to the boiler. After that, the cycle repeats.

Knowing the principle of operation of a gas unit, it will be much easier for you to install it. Let's look at the main stages of connecting the unit:

  • Stage 1. Consider how the products of combustion will be removed from the room in which the unit is planned to be installed. In 99% of cases, the manufacturer supplies the so-called chimney package with the equipment.
  • Stage 2. After choosing the installation location, you can proceed with the installation. The wall-mounted boiler is fixed with the help of slats, which often come with the unit. It is recommended to install planks on the wall at a minimum distance of 80 cm from the floor. It is important to mount the boiler in such a way that its lower part is parallel to the floor. Distortions can cause the equipment to often fail or function incorrectly.
  • Stage 3. Connecting the unit to the water supply. Remove plugs, install strainer and ball valves.
  • Step 4. Install the DHW and heating circuits. To facilitate this process, it makes sense to purchase a special kit with the necessary parts provided for by the gas boiler connection diagram.
  • Stage 5. Proceed with connecting the unit to the gas line. It is worth bearing in mind that on this stage You cannot do without the help of gas service specialists.

The piping scheme for a double-circuit heating boiler requires certain safety measures to be observed. First, the unit must be securely fixed to the wall. Secondly, the exhaust gas removal system must correspond to the power of a particular apparatus. Thirdly, it is necessary to maintain technological distances around the equipment. In this case, treated water, which does not contribute to the formation of rust, should be used as a heat carrier. It is also very important that a valve be provided under the boiler to shut off the gas.

If you follow all the above recommendations, you will be able to install as correctly as possible, avoiding any problems. It is worth remembering that the correct installation of equipment is the confidence in its safe and long-term operation. That is why experts recommend using the instructions that come with each certified device. So you will be sure that everything is done as correctly as possible.

An alternative to central heating and water supply is individual, which has been growing in popularity in recent years. This growth is connected, first of all, with two moments. The first is the transition to payment by meters, which implies the need to save. The second is convenience for the consumer: everyone knows how inconvenient preventive shutdowns of hot water supply are in the summer.

The connection diagram of a double-circuit gas boiler allows you to have your own water heating system for household needs and heating. You will have hot water and warmth whenever you need it.

Heating can be used for heating gas boilers, and for water heating - gas water heaters. Their choice is now quite large, but there is an option that will allow you to save money and space in the house - a combined double-circuit gas boiler. One circuit is designed for heating, the other for water supply, and these circuits work independently of each other.

Choosing a gas heater

Gas boilers by design are divided into floor and wall. The place where this equipment will be operated also depends on the design. So floor models require a special room, and if you choose a wall-mounted option, then it can be placed in the bathroom or in the kitchen.

When choosing a wall or floor option, you need to be guided not only by personal preferences.

There are certain requirements for the room in which the boiler will be installed, and it must comply with these requirements. You also need to make calculations for power, based on the volume of the room and the required volume of hot water.

How to connect the boiler

The connection of a double-circuit gas boiler is carried out to:

  • gas pipeline;
  • plumbing;
  • heating supply;
  • water return;
  • heating return.

You can install the boiler yourself, but only if you are confident in your abilities.

Work on connecting gas equipment begins with its installation. When choosing an installation site, you must immediately decide how it will be, the combustion products are removed. Remember that the installation of a chimney package is a prerequisite, without which the operation of gas equipment will not be allowed.

The boiler is supplied with special brackets, with which wall models are attached to the wall. After making sure that the boiler is fixed to the wall evenly and securely, you can connect it to the gas and water supply networks.

Due to the variety of models, it is impossible within the framework of one article to present specific connection diagrams for all gas boilers, since their design can vary significantly. We note only the main components and details that should in any case be present in the connection diagram.

Separately, you need to pay attention to the need to install filters. The equipment will last very little if it is connected without them, as it will become clogged with debris. It is also imperative to install a shut-off valve so that, if repair is necessary, the boiler can be disconnected from the heating system without cutting pipes.

Installation of heating and hot water circuits can be greatly facilitated by using special kits with the necessary parts. Such sets are commercially available.

If your boiler provides for connection to the mains, then the main thing to keep in mind is that the connection is made through a separate circuit breaker directly to the shield with mandatory grounding.

The last step is connecting to the gas main. It is better not to do anything here with your own hands. This stage can be entrusted only to specialists of gas services.

Upon completion of the installation, the gas supply organization checks the compliance of the installation of the device with safety requirements, and only after this check is the permit for the operation of the gas device issued.

This measure is necessary because heightened danger, which is the incorrect installation and operation of gas equipment. If gas equipment is installed in a room not intended for this, if its installation was performed poorly, then this can lead not only to its failure, but also to serious emergencies.

When installing, it is imperative to comply with fire safety requirements.

  • the boiler must be at least 20 cm away from gas appliances;
  • between the wall and the device should be from 30 to 50 cm;
  • gas equipment should not be located near the window;
  • if the boiler needs electricity to operate, it must be located in close proximity to its source.

If you choose the right double-circuit gas boiler and connect it in compliance with all requirements, it will create a comfortable environment in your home for a long time.

Installation of a double-circuit gas boiler involves connecting the unit to three lines at once:

  • Main gas pipeline supplying the boiler with fuel.
  • Heating system wiring supplying the coolant to the main circuit of the boiler.
  • Public or private water supply supplying liquid to the hot water circuit.

Moreover, each line involves a special connection method, as well as its own boiler piping scheme. And in this article we will consider all three connection methods, starting with fixing the boiler on the supporting surface.

An example of an installed gas double-circuit boiler

Boiler installation

Installation of a double-circuit gas boiler begins with fixing the unit on the supporting surface.

The installation scheme depends on the type of boiler, namely:

  • Floor boilers are placed on a podium or on a tiled floor . Fixing the location is carried out by the ballast method - the boiler is held in place by its own weight. The distance from the unit to the wall is regulated technical passport, but does not exceed 50-60 centimeters. Connection to the chimney channel involves the output of a horizontal section through the wall, followed by a tie-in into a vertical facade chimney.
  • Wall-mounted boilers are "hung" on pre-fixed brackets or fixed on the supporting surface with the help of anchor bolts penetrating the outlets from the unit body. The wall at the attachment point is tiled or covered with a stainless steel sheet. Connection to the chimney channel involves the arrangement of a horizontal coaxial outlet penetrating the supporting surface or an adjacent wall.

Further work is carried out only after the installation of the unit on the supporting surface is completed.

Connection to the gas pipeline

The scheme for connecting a double-circuit gas boiler to the main gas pipeline involves the following procedure:

  • Filter fittings are “wound” onto the gas fitting of the boiler, which traps mechanical impurities contained in the fuel flow. The cost of a gas filter does not exceed 1500 rubles. A standard FUM tape is used as a threaded joint seal.
  • The shut-off valve of the home gas pipeline and the filter attached to the boiler are connected with a hose high pressure with pressed fittings for external and internal threads. The length of the hose should not exceed 1.5-2 meters. The same polymer tape is used as a threaded joint seal.

The tightness of the joints is controlled using a soap solution applied to the interface zone. The joints are considered tight if, after opening the gas valve, soap bubbles are not visible in the joint area.

Important note: do not attempt to connect the boiler to the gas pipeline yourself. This work should be done by representatives of the gas service, who are responsible for the consequences of their actions. Otherwise, in the event of an accident, only the owner of the boiler will be liable for damages.

In addition, some manufacturers may refuse you warranty service if the boiler passport does not contain a mark from a representative of a gas company.

Example of a boiler connected to a gas pipeline and water supply

Water connection

To connect a gas double-circuit boiler to a hot water supply system, do the following:

  • An American squeegee is screwed onto the inlet water fitting with a diameter of ½ inch.
  • Next, the Americans screw a magnetic filter to the “connector”, which purifies and softens the water.
  • A ball valve is installed behind the filter, blocking the cold water line.
  • A coarse filter for mechanical purification of tap water is mounted under the valve.
  • The lower filter and home water supply are preferably connected with a solid measured piece of pipe fittings, equipping the tie-in point with the water supply line using a tee.
  • Another American squeegee is screwed to the pressure water fitting with a diameter of ½ inch.
  • A ball valve is mounted under the American.
  • A collector of the hot water supply system is mounted under the valve.

We connect a double-circuit boiler to the water supply

The presence of two filters - coarse and magnetic is a mandatory condition for installation. Manufacturers of expensive boilers do not accept units without a magnetic filter for warranty service. Installation of two ball valves makes it possible to remove the boiler for maintenance without dismantling the pipeline. The location of the inlet (cold) and pressure (hot) fittings is determined by the boiler passport.

Important note: do not confuse the fittings of the water circuit with the gas outlet. Otherwise, your gas stove will turn into a fountain. Therefore, re-read the boiler passport before installation again and very carefully.

Connection to the heating system

The connection of a wall-mounted double-circuit gas boiler or a floor-standing unit to the home heating system is carried out according to the following scheme:

  • Determine the location of the pressure and return fittings.
  • Attach the American fitting to the return fitting.
  • Install a ball valve under the American.
  • Attach a coarse filter under the valve.
  • Install another valve below - it will help clean the filter mesh without draining the coolant.
  • Connect the valve to the manifold or return branch with a single piece of pipe.
  • Attach the American fitting to the pressure fitting.
  • Install a ball valve under the American.
  • Connect the valve to the pressure branch of the system or pressure manifold.

Connecting a gas boiler to a heating circuit

Use FUM tape as a sealant for threaded connections. You can refuse to use American fittings, but in this case, the installation of the “lower” fittings will take place with great labor costs.
