Witch's altar. Rules for altar magic and creating a place for rituals at home

When performing magical rituals or any actions, a witch traditionally uses an altar in magic.

An altar in magic is a center of power in which energy lines from all directions of the world converge. In a symbolic sense, the altar is the center of the Universe.

A witch's altar can be of any shape, but the most commonly used shape is triangular, square or round. If the ritual is carried out in nature and you did not take anything with you, then a stump or a large boulder can serve as an altar in magic, however, before this they must be consecrated.

The altar is most often white, black, blue or green. It is covered with a cloth, but only made from natural materials; leather is also suitable.

The “face” of the altar is usually directed to the east, since this is the direction in which the witch usually stands while performing her magical ritual.

At the magical altar there must certainly be several obligatory items - a ritual knife, a protective amulet or talisman, a pentagram, a candle, a cup and several objects that represent the forces of the elements - Earth, Water, Fire and Air.

Usually the personification of the Earth element is a twig of oak, a little salt or a pinch of earth.

Naturally, the personification of the element of Water is a vessel with water, the symbol of the element of Fire is a candle, and the element of Air is incense. But there may be other options.

Also note that objects symbolizing the elements are arranged in a certain order: in the east - Air (in other traditions - Earth), in the south - Fire, in the west - Water and in the north - Earth (in other traditions - Air).

The pentagram, as a rule, is located in the center of the magical altar, and a candle is placed in the center of the pentagram itself.

Among other things, a small saucer is usually placed on the altar, on which various gifts and sacrificial products are placed for the god, goddess and spirits.

The altar in magic should always be clean, and objects on it should be placed logically. You cannot have Water on the Fire side, and vice versa.

Before each magical action, the altar must be cleaned.

An altar can be ephemeral, portable - then it is created instantly, as soon as the altar cover is laid on any surface and the first candle is lit... But more often, a magical altar is both a repository and an active, tuned structure. It is most convenient to arrange it on a chest of drawers or a bedside table: the upper tier is a place for current work. And below, hidden from prying eyes, ritual objects, preparations for amulets, stones and candles are waiting in the wings.

The altar is a place of transformation of energies and a place of your power. Power accumulates with each successful ritual, and each item accumulates the memory of your magic. Regardless of what exactly the owner practices, you are sure to find several important items on the altar.

1. Symbol of deity. Depends on the chosen patron. A statue of the Goddess, a bas-relief depicting Cernunnos, or maybe even a skull, as a symbol of the triumph of Death, would be appropriate.
2. The signs of the four elements are responsible for maintaining Balance on the altar. Pentacles, stones and salt hold the power of the Earth. Candles and oil lamps are a tribute to Fire. Bowls and goblets are filled with Water or wine. And essential oils from incense burners float in the Air. In addition, the presence of all four signs provides magical insurance against unwanted “breakdowns”.

3. Tools for the current job. What do you have planned for today: a potion of caterpillars? Then you need a boiler. Mantika session? Get out your oracles: runes, crystal balls and tarot. Communication with spirits and a couple of curses? Yeah, I'll have to poke my nose into the Book of Shadows.

In general, any altar reflects the character and preferences of the owner or mistress. Anything can be on it. Strange jewelry. Rowan beads. Candles-candles-candles: how can one refuse the power of Fire, which gives such a living and warm light? Although some of the candles may not burn with warm intentions, we will keep silent about this. But look, a handful of stones, scattered picturesquely on the bedspread, shimmer with colors and energies. Everything that your deep magical self responds to at the moment falls into this magical territory.

Orthodox Christians sometimes mutter from magic that both the altar and everything that lies on it should certainly be done independently. Otherwise, they say, there will be no strength. At these words, Paracelsus vividly imagines shuffling his rasp along the clumsy workpiece of the cauldron. If you laboriously make your own athame, polish crystal balls, or unwind a hundred thousand cocoons and weave silk blankets with a pentagram in the center, you will have no time to practice magic.

In fact, quite high demands are placed on altar attributes, but homemadeness is not one of them. And this is what is required:
1. The thing must meet its objectives. Scratched balls, flowing when not needed, candles and plastic jewelry as amulets are no good.
2. The thing must be clean from previous influences, from the emotions of the master. Energy purity is the key to magical health.
3. The thing must be open to your influence. Don't pick up things that are stronger than you. Better yet, stock up on clean forms, blanks and basics for what you will fill with strength - for yourself, loved ones and clients. This is the tabula rasa where you write down your will.

To use the altar as a laboratory for creating magical artifacts, you need to have “empty forms” - blank things. These can be candles, stone tumbling, leather, wood and metals. Any high-quality blanks for amulets are suitable - the main thing is to clear them of previous influences so that they do not interfere with further work. And you shouldn’t use consumer goods, because it will take too much time and effort to make a frankly weak thing suitable for magical practice.

What is a witch's altar?

Everyone generally understands what a witch’s altar is. People who get their impressions of witchcraft from Hollywood films imagine cups of blood, melted black candles, torn out goat tongues and other, um, not-so-fresh belongings. This is a little far from the truth. In fact, what kind of fierce hatred for the world around you must be in order to constantly keep the above items on the altar, which, in fact, is, in a certain sense, a reflection of yourself.

Of course not, if you wake up every morning and your humiliated and mutilated subjects greet you with the name Lord Voldemort... then why are you even reading this article? There are descriptions of altars in magical literature - Wiccans present them especially clearly, since every Wiccan book necessarily writes about an altar. This is a place where all sorts of magical and simply significant objects are located. Although I can’t help but agree with Lady Meow that the main altar of a witch is her head, and not at all a beautiful table with beautiful candles. However, the proverbial table, with constant use, becomes a place where you can focus and tune in - a self-created Place of Power, if you will. Somewhat abstracting from specific magical traditions (the same Wiccanism), I decided to discuss a little the topic of altars (a chapter from the book of the noble Wiccan Cassandra Ison is given below in its entirety and inviolable form). Not their specific design - that depends on you, but the practical question of what can be adapted for the altar. The funny thing is that if we take the concept of an altar in a broad sense - i.e. containers for valuable and expensive items - then you probably already have one - a place where things dear to you stand, be they old photographs, figurines, or... oh, swans on a red napkin (those Feng Shui swans will not be remembered by night). Oh, do you want a real magical altar? Fine. To do this, it is not even necessary to steal a particularly magical stone from a particularly magical place. In fact, I wouldn't even recommend it. In principle, you can buy an altar. The truth is, mostly not with us. Abroad, you can find online and purchase, say, an altar in retro style, folk Wiccan style (with elements of burning) or in the Ikea style.

If you do not have the good fortune to live in a capitalist foreign country, where you can buy everything, you will be faced with the challenge of selecting or making an altar yourself. The minimum requirements are obvious - a flat, level, clean surface large enough (but not too large so that you can move around it). The altar can be either permanent or temporary. The advantages of the latter are obvious - it is less conspicuous to curious friends and relatives, and there is less chance that Aunt Sonya from Mariupol will decide to a) sweep the dust off it and arrange the figures in alphabetical order b) ask what it is. On the other hand, a permanent altar... this also has its own charm.

It is desirable that the material from which it is made is pleasant to you. There may be some type of wood (hazel, ash, rowan, oak, or whatever is dear to you). It is assumed that if you undertake to cut down a tree yourself, it would not be harmful to behave with it in a civilized manner.

I like the idea of marble - for example, white with gray veins (although the first place where you can get it is a funeral home - and not every sense of humor can stand this). The idea of a mirror as an altar seems dubious. A mirror is still an independent magical object and its ability to split and multiply can sometimes be inappropriate. Metal is also strictly not recommended (it is believed that its properties as an energy conductor (have you been through physics?) can interfere with your magic... I like the idea of soit about using a folding easel as a portable altar, placing a mirror under the lid, and a pentagram on the working part (when folded it does not cause any unnecessary thoughts in those around you) - a girl is walking - a plein air artist.

For a stationary altar for those who have cheerful children, relatives and pets at home - like me - a good idea is an altar - a drawer that is locked with a key when not in use (_mjawa's idea).

The shape of the altar is usually round or square. For better division into sections.

I would also like to say that the altar is not only a place where you keep images of the gods in which you believe, but also a place for what is important and dear to you, be it shells from the seashore, beautiful stones or something else . What matters is what they represent to YOU.
Still, it is worth mentioning a few basic items that can be placed on the altar.

IMAGES OF GODS, GODDESSES, SYMBOLS, FIGURES - it's your choice. What figures and images you use to represent your Goddesses and Gods is your own business. You already have some of the symbols and figures. Why did you keep them all these years in the chest of drawers?

SEASONAL DECORATIONS: reflecting the signs of the season, denoting unity with nature and disguising the altar as household ikebana.

ALTAR COVER. Fabric (usually black or white, but if you want something else, that’s up to you). The symbols applied to it can be either symbols of planets or elements, or intended for special specific occasions, or in general patterns - stars and months, ornaments of flowers and herbs...

Designing a bedspread is your business and a matter of the level of your talents. I like soit's idea of using permanent gold and silver markers for example. Moreover, if you use candles, be concerned about the non-flammability of the material - otherwise the effect of your sorceries can be truly stunning... among the ideas are glass (I don’t really like the idea) or sprinkling with water.

PENTACLE - it is believed that it symbolizes the center of the ritual, the unity of the elements, and should be facing north.

CANDLES: – can be different – for lighting (tea), ritual, God (gold or green) and Goddess (usually silver)... etc. Wiccans place the Goddess candle on the left and the God candle on the right, lighting the Goddess candle first...

SMOKERS AND AROMAL LAMPS – I like the idea of putting “cold” oil into a lamp. The smell is lighter. And incense sticks usually have a very strong smell.

BOWL WITH WATER AND SEA SALT - for cleansing. Love the soit idea of using a sea shell.

There may also be a BOOK OF REFLECTIONS, where you will keep notes on the progress of rituals, writing utensils... and in general, whatever you want.

What should a witch's altar look like?

Setting up your altar. Your altar will need a large flat surface, a table or buffet will do (you can use drawers to store items needed for practicing magic), just cover it with a tablecloth. What shape this surface will be does not really matter - circles and squares are equally sacred and are easily divided into quarters for the four elements - Earth, Air, Fire and Water, the foundations of traditional magic, playing an important role even in informal rituals. A round altar in the shape of a sacred circle works especially well.

If you do not have suitable furniture, rough stone or unplaned wood such as hazel, ash, rowan or oak, laid on stones or bricks, will do. Make sure it's high enough so you don't have to constantly bend over.

In good weather, if you have a secluded spot in your garden or backyard, you can use a wooden stump or a tall, flat rock as a workspace. But the best places for altars are the most unexpected objects - for example, the top of an upright stone with a magic circle of your favorite stones, or a rock on the shore with a circle of seaweed and shells marking directions.

The altar doesn't have to be large, but you will need room to walk around it freely. Many rituals require movement in a circle with an altar in the center, and some space is needed on the north side of the circle and on the south side to stand freely there, facing north.

The central place at the altar/in the circle is the place of the Spirit, or Akash. Akasha is the name given to the fifth element, formed from the combination of the four ancient elements: Earth, Fire, Air and Water, which in earlier times were considered the sources of all life and matter. Akasha is even more powerful than all the others.

Magical tradition prescribes keeping artifacts and candles on the altar, but this is not necessary. It is possible, if you are using an ordinary room in an apartment or house, to leave the altar only partially prepared for work, although it is better to bring items such as salt and water just before the ritual, as they must be fresh. For an altar in the garden you will need a candle for open air or a torch, as well as stone figurines; it is better that such an altar is covered on all sides with bushes.

On your altar in your home, when you are not using it, keep potted plants or place bouquets to keep the energy fresh and moving. If it feels stagnant, spray the altar counter-clockwise with water and lemon juice or peppermint infusion to clear away the negative energy that comes from the hustle and bustle of the day, then do a deosil circle to energize the area. You can also fumigate it with incense, make protective circles of pine or myrrh, walk around again, first against the movement of the sun, and then deosil.

Every evening or whenever you have time, you can try your inner spiritual abilities on your altar. For example, look at a candle or into a vessel of water, onto the surface of which you should drip a little colored ink. Try holding the various stones that you have on your altar and allow impressions to pass through your fingertips in the form of sights, sounds and feelings. This art is called psychometry, you master it involuntarily.

However, you may have a more specific goal. For example, to improve your financial situation, place basil leaves in a pot, surround it with gold coins, and burn a green or gold success candle while visualized gold coins rain down on you. If you have a sick friend and want to send him healing, place his photo on the altar and surround it with carnations, rose quartz crystals and a circle of small pink candles. Send your healing thought or imagine a golden light, then blow out the deosil candles and send the energy to those who need it.

When you are not practicing magic “by the rules,” keep some stones on your altar that have a certain value to you. You might want to have rock crystal for clear energy, blue lapis lazuli with a gold shimmer for wisdom, purple amethyst and rose quartz for health and harmony, or shimmering golden brown tiger's eye for ease of cognition. You can also keep a variety of herbs on your altar, according to your current focus.

Strengthening your altar

You can further enhance your special place by making it a reflection of the positive aspects of your ever-changing life by including other small items that bring back fond memories. These could include rocks or shells discovered during a fancy trip, gifts from friends or family, a letter or even an emailed declaration of love, paintings or photographs of places or people that mean a lot to you. Their presence can restore joy and fill you with confidence as these magical items carry positive energy.

Some magicians keep a book here, such as a collection of poems, a psalter, Shakespeare's tragedies, or the I Ching. If you lack inspiration, close your eyes and open your book - the pages will open as if by chance, but in fact your brain will unconsciously choose the most appropriate answer in a manner close to telekinesis.

On occasion, add some energy to those favorite things by lighting a chamomile or lavender scented candle. Home altars in many countries were originally family hearths, so an unlit hearth will serve as a wonderful altar for you. Its power depended on herbs and flowers collected from roadsides in the days before cars. Most magicians who have fireplaces keep them clean and fresh with flowers or greenery, depending on the season.

Between the candles on the altar you may want to place figurines, figures of god and goddess, the choice depends on how you feel or on what culture you are from, this will symbolize the balance between yang (male energy) and yin (female energy) ). The god figurine can be replaced with a horn, and the goddess figurine with a large shell.

There are many figurines of various gods in junk shops, and you can also buy them in specialty stores or stores that sell goods from all over the world. You may, however, feel more comfortable with ceramic animals, birds or reptiles with which you have an affinity: put a tiger for courage, an eagle for vigilance, a cat for mystery and independence, a snake for regeneration. These are what the American Indians call our totem, or sacred animals. You may find that some of these are considered symbols of gods in various cultures. For example, Bast, the cat-headed Egyptian goddess and protector of women - especially pregnant and nursing women - is associated with home, pleasure and joy. Bast was originally a lioness goddess, symbolizing the life-giving rays of the Sun.

The magician's altar is one of the key magical tools designed to directly work with energies. When carrying out magical actions, from a conspiracy to the creation of a talisman, the Altar is extremely important. The importance of the Altar is due precisely to its design, which concentrates a much greater amount of energy compared to ordinary work.

Historical reference

ALTAR- a sacred place for making sacrifices or offering prayers to the gods. The most important part of the temple.

The most common version of the origin of the term is from the Latin root alt meaning “high,” i.e., relating to the highest in human perception. According to another decipherment, the word “altar” comes from the verb adolere - to kindle, which meant sacrificial incense. It is no coincidence that pre-Christian theologians attributed focus - hearth - to the underground gods, aga - to the earthly, altare - to the heavenly.

The Altar has constant energy access, so all your actions performed on the Altar will potentially increase in strength and power.

Most magical operations are performed on the altar, or the altar is an element of the magical ritual, as well as the tools or tablets of the altar. Thus, talismans, pantacles of all degrees of complexity are made only on the altar; treating a patient using a photograph, fortune telling using your own Tarot cards, and many other actions that will be emphasized during the training process.

ALTAR. WORK AREAS. MANUFACTURING

In the picture you can see the working area of the altar, which has a white background. This is not a mandatory requirement - you can use any color that, according to your own ideas, meets the requirements described below.

The classic color of the altar is black, capable of perceiving the entire energy spectrum without “cutting off” any of its components. The main requirement when making and working with the Altar is the clarity of the lines and the correctness of their outline, which must be strictly observed.

Historical reference

The most ancient altars were artificial elevations erected from earth or natural stone. Later they were replaced by man-made products that retained the principles of working with the energy of the surrounding world.

Ancient natural Altars exist to this day, having passed into the category of Sacred Stones, to which people still come with requests and appeals.

The lines connecting the altar areas should extend from their centers. But on the altar only the connection of the outer boundaries of the zones is drawn. The dimensions of the altar and zones are arbitrary; what is important is the ease of operation and placement of the tablets, as well as the minimum of “free” spaces around the zones. In the future, we will call the altar zones the working areas of the altar, giving them a specific number.

Area 2 of the altar - the workplace, should be of maximum size to accumulate more energy and more comfortable work. Numbers from 1 to 5 indicate areas of the altar that have the following purposes:

Now it is necessary to move on to a detailed description of the areas and necessary things on the altar, as well as to the methods of their manufacture.

1. Lamps.

Lamps or candlesticks can be of absolutely any shape and origin (meaning that there is no need for special production of these attributes and it is possible to purchase them). The only requirement for them is to hold the candles steadily on the altar. Moreover, candles can be of any shape and size, the only condition is that they must be blessed.

However, you can “play” with candles - use candles of different colors depending on the operation being performed.

2. Altar workstation.

The place where the magician works: creates pentacles, charges water, sanctifies various things, works with a photograph of the patient, etc. It is “filled” with what needs to be worked with when performing a particular operation.

Altar in magic

Since magic at a certain time of its existence was not separated from religion, such a concept as a magical Altar arose around the 16th-17th centuries, when occult teachings began to emerge in European culture, aimed primarily at studying the forces of the universe and interacting with them.

This does not mean that magical Altars did not exist before this time. But the canons and occult-scientific explanation of this phenomenon appeared thanks to the research of European magicians.

3. Placement of the box.

The box can be of any shape and, accordingly, the dimensions of this area vary depending on the size of the box. It stores used or personal panthakis, the magician's Tarot cards, as well as personal magical items.

You can purchase a box, or you can make it yourself.

4. Tablets and incense burner.

An incense burner is used by a magician to fumigate rooms and illuminate various objects. This is usually a church incense burner, but it can also be used to smoke other herbs needed for various ceremonies.

The magician's tablets refer to the auxiliary tools needed in the work.

- pencils, ink pen or feather.

- ruler, protractor.

Felt pen, marker of any color.

Compasses (Attention!!! Compasses are used to make templates for pentacles and talismans, but are not used in the manufacture of final media).

- incense sticks and incense.

- a supply of incense and coal for the incense burner.

Compass.

Penknife.

Church or lighted candles of any size.

All these items are consecrated during the ceremony of consecration of the Altar. If for some reason you did not have these items during the ceremony, then you need to consecrate them separately using the standard “Consecration” ritual.

5. Cheat sheets.

This term is quite understandable and suggests that various records of a particular operation are necessary so that during its implementation the magician is not distracted in search of the next action, but has everything necessary at hand.

Location of the Altar.

Unlike religious Altars, a magical altar is mobile. It can be placed where it is needed according to the actions being carried out. Moreover, its orientation changes from Eastern - daytime, to Western - night, following the flow of the energy of the Earth's forces.

The altar does not take up much space, but it attracts unnecessary attention from various curious people. It can be assembled for work and then put away without attracting unnecessary attention.

MAKING THE ALTAR

The altar is made of wood or plywood of A3 size (the most acceptable size, but no one limits you to making an altar of larger or smaller sizes), and then covered with fabric - in one piece. Then zones and lines are drawn. After they are drawn, the altar is consecrated and further corrections, changes in the configuration of zones or lines are not allowed, only updating them is possible in cases where they have been erased.

Before the altar is consecrated and charged, the altar itself and all the things on it are prepared. They are placed on the altar, it is charged and consecrated together with the altar items. Let me remind you that the ritual is carried out on the day and hour of a major magical ceremony, in compliance with all the necessary requirements for that day.

An altar with altar accessories is placed in front of the magician. The room in which the ritual is performed must be darkened, only the candles on the altar are lit. The altar is set to the east or west, depending on the time of day at which the ritual is performed - rising or setting day.

Sit in front of the altar, place your hands, palms down, next to areas 1 - left hand next to the left candle, right hand next to the right. Close your eyes and imagine the light coming from above onto the altar, illuminating only it. Feel this light, try to visualize it. Hold this light in your consciousness for at least 30 minutes. After this, charging the altar is completed.

Prayer “For the sanctification of every thing”

To the Creator and Creator of the human race, the Giver of spiritual grace, the Giver of eternal salvation, Lord Himself, send Your Holy Spirit with the highest blessing on this thing, as if armed with the power of heavenly intercession, it will help those who want to use it for bodily salvation and intercession and help, oh Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen

As for magic tablets, below you can see their appearance and learn about the principles of manufacturing. But all these items can be used either together with the altar or separately from it, so you can start making (or searching for) them after a while, without limiting yourself in terms of time or requirements.

Dmitry Nevsky

People who once practiced and now practice various magical practices know about the altar - a certain place where the energy necessary to solve a particular problem is concentrated. Without an altar, you cannot appoint a magician or sorcerer. It is impossible to imagine a well-executed work without an altar. Work or communication with native gods. Very few people neglect making a sacred place, which they soon regret.

Ideally, it would be great if a whole room was allocated for practicing magic, where the altar itself could be organized. In such a place, no one will bother you, no one will stand over your soul and be interested in what these or other objects mean. Agree that sometimes answering these questions can be boring.

Alas, not everyone has the opportunity to separate themselves from the outside world with their own magical workshop. It is this reason that is the main reason for the refusal to make the altar. Like, I don’t want my family to poke their nose into my affairs, I don’t want my children to touch my things, and in general, anyone to interfere in magical matters.

But there still has to be a way out somewhere. One way or another, in the house or apartment where you live you still need to find a quiet place (at least a corner) where the altar can be organized.

How to make an altar?

A small table, for example, bought from IKEA, or the surface of your old chest of drawers, or maybe even a fireplace, can act as an altar. A flat surface must be covered with a cloth. For example, you can independently embroider protective symbols on fabric or any other signs that you somehow use in your practice.

On any altar there is always a place for candles, which must be made of pure wax. Ideally, you need to make these candles yourself. If you couldn’t make a candle yourself or you can’t buy a real wax candle, then try to find at least a white candle, it is the personification of the divine source of life.

You can also often find various herbs on the altar. Their names will depend on what kind of work is being performed. Stones – they are also on the altar. Moonstone and amethyst, morion and carnelian. You never know what kind of stones you can interact with! Here everyone chooses a stone to their liking or according to their horoscope. And yet, the very first and main stone located on the altar is a crystal in the shape of a ball.

Here you can also find various pendulums, churas of gods and goddesses, incense, a ritual knife, salt and living Water.

Altar for healing

When it comes to healing practices, the altar seems to be transformed. Its very surface is decorated with scarlet fabric. Candles are used in green or golden-orange color.

Rituals for getting rid of physical and spiritual ailments are carried out, as a rule, on women’s days (Sat., Wed., Fri.), if a young lady is being treated, and on men’s days (Mon., Tue., Thu.), if a male representative. A prerequisite is the waning moon. Only this way and no other way!!!

Of course, every healer will use his own well-tested ritual or rite. Everyone has their own prayers in their arsenal, but what unites the masters is the use of various healing herbs and incense in their work. Some people prefer to interact with incense, others with sage or yarrow, others with wormwood thistle.

The current level of medicine and its inaccessibility for many leads to the fact that an increasing number of people are turning to representatives of alternative medicine for help. Alas, there are a large number of charlatans among them. This is true. But there are those who really help and do not do it for money.

And yet, saving drowning people is the work of the one who is drowning. Learn to solve at least minor problems on your own, such as removing the evil eye. Learn to cleanse your own energy and the energy of your loved ones. For this you have all the tools, the main thing is the desire and then everything will work out.

every self-respecting sorcerer should have, it is probably known to everyone who begins to be interested in the occult. But it is not always known why it is needed. Sometimes there is controversy over what a "real" magical altar should be, what should be on it, and how it should be used.

The word “altar” itself comes from the Latin “altarium” and literally means “the top of the altar” or “high altar.” However, it would be wrong to think that in ancient times altars were used specifically for making sacrifices. In fact, there were special places for this - altars; the altar has a different purpose. First of all, this is a sacred place, symbolizing a deity, and storing ritual objects laid out on it.

In modern occultism, including witchcraft, the altar is used as a personal place of power for the magician, his working platform. Accordingly, there are simply no specific strict requirements for its appearance, size or functionality. There are only the most general ideas about what a witchcraft altar is. And in practice, each witch or sorcerer builds her own personal altar on her own.

A witchcraft altar can be specially created for this purpose. table , a flat stone placed on a regular table or window sill; mantelpiece, chest of drawers or nightstand. The altar can be a simple stump or a large boulder somewhere in nature, although this option is much less convenient in modern conditions. In other words, it is any surface that a witch uses as her sacred space and place of personal power.

Sometimes there are opinions on the Internet that a “real” witchcraft altar must be equipped with special ritual tools and utensils purchased in special witchcraft stores. What it must have on it altar covers , decorated in a certain way, figurines of deities, altar bowls, ritual knives, wands, candles, incense burners and much more. Of course, all this is beautiful and looks good, but let's not forget that most altar items are just symbols. Symbols of the elements and forces that the magician uses in his work.

Therefore, the simplest objects are perfect for this: a bird feather or smoking stick as a symbol of air, a little salt as the element of earth, a pair of candles , perhaps small statuette . In other words, what exactly is on your altar is not so important as the meaning you put into these objects. A real witch always gets by with little.

But if you want to decorate your altar with something special, pick up a beautiful figurine of your favorite deity, a new incense burner or candles that match the color, you can always look at the section"Temple and Altar" our store. There will definitely be something interesting there that will turn out to be not only beautiful, but also useful in witchcraft work.

One way to bring magic into your life is to create a magic altar. You can make it permanent or temporary. To honor the gods or for some specific purpose. Place on a table, shelf or windowsill. The main thing is that it reflects your idea of magic and powerful forces around you. You can give him strength using this simple ritual. By the way, it is also suitable for altars that are erected “at a time” for the sake of a holiday or ritual.

Ingredients:

An altar containing your chosen instruments

Symbols of the four verses (fire, water, air, earth) and gods

Carrying out:

1. Hold your hands over the altar, palms down, or “hug” it. Feel how the symbols of the four elements begin to shine each in their own color, filling the altar with their power. Visualize the power of the gods descending from the very depths of space and uniting with the power of the elements. See how all these energies mix with your personal emanations coming from your hands.

2. When the picture becomes “clear,” say the words of the spell three times:

"Fire, air, earth and water,

Merge with the One forever,

Endow the altar with your strength,

And you will take him under your wing.

Fill your spells with power

In reality, my wishes come true.

And henceforth there will be no trouble here,

There is always a place for harmony here!”

3. Take some time to feel that your spell has been heard, then reinforce it with the words:

By the power of God and Goddess - the creators of destinies,
As I wished, so be it.”

4. You can do this little ritual before each magical work. It will also be very good if you repeat it from time to time over a stationary altar, further affirming its power. For example, I use similar spells after every cleaning at my “workplace”

Based on ideas by Ellen Dugan
