Make an angel costume at home. "Angel"

You can be strict, harmful, amorous, absolutely rational and reasonable - but does this prevent you from being an angel? And if so, then allow your inner being to manifest, and your wings to open above your shoulders. How exactly to do this, in other words, how to make an angel costume with your own hands, getting the maximum pleasure from the process and efficiency from the result - we will tell you here.

Step 1: Define a style.

Angels, as you know, are different - playful and strict, funny and inspirational, as well as loving, beautiful and free from any prejudice. First, decide what you want to be - the style of your angel costume will depend on this.

Perhaps the most discreet of all angels is the classic hero of Christian mythology, in a long, non-tight suit and rather large wings.

This angel is very feminine, attractive and still quite unassuming.

Such an angel will definitely not refuse to fool around.

Decided? Let's get to work.

Step 2: Angel dress.

First you need to sew the basis of the angel costume - a dress or a pair.

This is what the most traditionalist, very understated angel dress might look like. If you decide to be modest - use this pattern. The sleeves are very comfortable to wear, and the hem can be sheathed with not too fancy gold braid. It will turn out heavenly!

And this is a slightly more frivolous dress. However, he also has enough fabric on his back so that future wings do not rub you.

By the way, if you already have a ready-made white dress or sundress, you can very well take it as a basis. A little ruffles, a little jewelry - and the basis for the angel's outfit is ready!

Step 3: Spread your wings!

Now, in order to soar above the crowd at a future party, you will need a pair of strong wings.

First you need to decide on the form. If you don't feel the confidence needed to make big complex wings - make small and cute ones. Ready to work hard - soar on the wings of your imagination and enjoy the result. For example, here are some very inspiring wings for an angel costume:

As a material for the wings, you can take almost anything: the main thing is to reproduce the feathery structure and convey the general outline. The general contour, by the way, or the base, can also be made of different materials.

Hangers and tulle

You will need two metal hangers, tulle, thread and needles.

  • Bend the hangers so that the overall outline looks like wings. Point the hooks inward. By the way, if you don’t have a hanger at hand, take an ordinary wire, the main thing is to securely fasten the ends.
  • Cover the frame on both sides with tulle, securing with a seam over the edge.
  • Drape the bottom edge with tulle fragments cut in the shape of feathers.
  • Connect both wings together, wrapping the junction with a dense white cloth or fur - to avoid chafing the angelic body.

Cardboard

For cardboard wings, you will need cardboard - thick enough, but not corrugated - a pencil, scissors, glue.

Draw the outline of the future wing. Mirror it to get the second one. In this work, both wings are cut from a single piece of cardboard. If you need very large wings, provide a reinforced cardboard jumper. To make the angel costume more functional, make a jumper from a strong fabric, then when the wings move, the connecting part will not fray.

Cut out the wings. The narrowest places can be strengthened by gluing a second layer of thinner cardboard.

Film+wire+cloth

For this base, you will need a fairly thick film or oilcloth, wire, white cloth, glue, scissors, paper and pattern pencils.

  • Make a pattern of one wing of a pleasant shape for you, mirror it to get the second.
  • Transfer the pattern to the film and cut along the contour
  • Glue the film around the perimeter with wire to strengthen future wings
  • On both sides around the perimeter, glue the wings with a thin white cloth.

Now the blank needs to be turned into wings.

To do this, you can use a variety of materials - for example, ordinary tulle or other light fabric, thinly cut paper.

And this is the beginning of the creation of feather wings. In fabric wings, the ends of the feathers can be inserted into the fabric, strengthening the connection with glue. Glue starting from the lower layers. Top the wings with a down feather or gutted boa:

In addition, you can make foil wings, large threads, yarn, and even gauze. By the way, the wings do not have to be white at all. Golden or silver wings, blue, pink and even multi-colored models look great. It all depends on what kind of angel you are! The main thing is to take care of attaching the wings to yourself - this can be, for example, sewing to a dress. And if the wings are supposed to be removed before the end of the party - just sew on the hand loops. Like this:

Happened? So you are ready to take off!

Step 4: Take care of the accessories.

Even the most playful angel is entitled to a halo. It can be done, for example, by wrapping a wire frame in sequins, attaching it directly above the wings, or attaching it to a hairband. The beauty of this design is that the halo will literally hover over your head:

Also, a halo can be attached directly to the head using hairpins - or you can purchase a ready-made version from us. By the way, if your hairstyle is not very angelic, feel free to use wigs. Nimbus is attached to them just fine.

Now it remains only to pick up shoes - let them be elegant shoes or sandals to match - and buy elegant stockings. To make the angel's costume flawless, also arm yourself with suitable accessories - a trumpet, a bow with arrows or a heart.

Making an angel costume is an easy and fun way to create a holiday outfit for a child. The creation of such clothes will not take much time, but the result will be really amazing. The simplicity of making a costume lies in the small number of necessary elements and the use of improvised means.

Beginning of work

So, before you start creating an angel costume, you need to decide on the list of necessary elements. You will need:

  • Nimbus;
  • Wings;
  • Main outfit.

Depending on the gender of the child, it is necessary to choose the type of basic vestment. For a girl, any white festive dress is suitable. You can also sew a special shirt to the floor, or a chiton. The same option is suitable for a boy.

To save time, the guy can be dressed up in regular white pants and the same white shirt. Equipping such an outfit with chic handmade wings, you will not take away a drop of beauty from the costume.

DIY shirt

Those who wish to spend an extra hour creating a costume are advised to pay attention to the pattern of a standard “angelic” shirt. Sewing a tunic is easy.

So, we will need:

  • Plain white fabric
  • Model for fitting;
  • Needles, threads and other sewing accessories;
  • Scissors.

We ask our model to spread his arms to the sides. Measure from wrist to wrist. This will be the sleeve length. We also measure the required length of the outfit.

Fold the fabric in half along the long side. Mark the neckline and cut it out. Next, we put the costume blank on our angel, as shown in the photo.

Then we note how wide the sleeves and the shirt itself will be. We leave a few extra centimeters for freedom of movement, and cut off the excess. The edges of the hem can be slightly rounded.

We sweep our workpiece and proceed to stitching. We process the neck, sleeves and hem in any convenient way. If desired, rain or other decorative elements can be sewn here.

Wings for Cupid

To create spectacular wings, you need a simple set of improvised materials. The beauty of this element determines how cute the whole angel costume will be as a result.

From feathers

For those who want to look like an elegant angel for the New Year, it is advised to use real feathers as the main material. They can be purchased in the department for creativity or then use chicken or duck feathers. It is optimal if both of them are present in the costume.

Feather wings are the most adorable option for an angel costume for a girl. It is easy to make it with your own hands.

Beyond Feathers, we need:

  • Copper insulated wire (minimum three meters);
  • Template of the necessary wings in full size;
  • Thin cardboard or thick paper;
  • Knitted fabric in white;
  • Glue, adhesive tape;
  • Pliers and scissors.

Let's start creating the wings. First you need to form a wire frame. We bend the wire around the perimeter of the template. We start from its foundation. The remaining length can be used to fasten the accessory on the back.

Now you need to fill the frame. We cut out the cardboard wings according to the existing template and fix them inside the frame with adhesive tape. By the same principle, we cut out the same elements from the fabric in the amount of 4 pieces. Glue to cardboard on both sides.

Now the fabric wings need to be decorated with feathers. We attach feathers over the entire area of \u200b\u200bthe wing. Carefully mask the wire bezel. In order for the wing to be densely covered with plumage, glue the big feathers first, and then use the small ones. Small fluff is attached last.

To hide the edges of the top row, you can use pieces of rabbit fur, if available. Instead, you can attach a downy boa or other "logical conclusion" of the product.

To keep the wings comfortably on the back of a small cupid, we attach ribbons so that the product is put on like a backpack.

foil wings

This is another way to decorate an angel costume with a spectacular "aircraft". We use shiny foil to create it. Both ordinary material in rolls and milk bags shiny from the inside will do. The first way will give you a more spectacular outfit, but will be less hardy. If you have a stormy party ahead, it is better to use more durable counterparts.

For children's New Year's party silver wings are best for a boy, and feather wings for a girl.

To build an angel costume for a boy with your own hands, you will need:

  • Life size cardboard template of wings;
  • Glue;
  • Foil;
  • Scissors;
  • Ribbons or lacing for fastening.

To begin with, we attach a mount, so as not to torment the delicate product with unnecessary manipulations. Then we start decorating.

To make our pen symmetrical, fold a rectangle of foil and cut out a crescent moon from it. Then, without unbending the pen, we make transverse notches. We prepare about as many feathers as needed to cover both wings.

We glue them with any glue that is at hand. It is most convenient to use a hot glue gun. We start decorating the wing from the bottom up, so that the upper feathers cover the previous ones with their fringe.

This is how easy it is to build angel wings with your own hands. A decorating master class can be supplemented by attaching elements from natural fluff or rhinestones.

Creating a halo

The final touch in creating the image will be head decoration. Before you do halo of an angel, prepare:

  • flexible wire;
  • Pliers;
  • Scissors;
  • Tinsel or other decoration.

You can attach a halo both to a ready-made hair hoop, and by constructing a ring from the wire itself. It all depends on your imagination.

We turn the wire into a ring, equal in diameter to the size of the desired halo. The remaining end is used for fastening on the head.

The halo should be decorated in such a way that the wire is not visible, and its remains do not create discomfort for our cherub. Outfit is ready!

Attention, only TODAY!

The easiest way to make an angel costume with your own hands is to use a light festive dress as a basis and add details to it that distinguish the angel costume from others. These are wings and a diadem (or an ornament resembling a halo). Below we will look at how to make wings and head decorations.

But there may be a situation when there is no ready-made dress or the child has grown out of it. Refuse such a suit? No. It is possible to make the base of the costume without spending a lot of money. As a decor for the upper part of the outfit, use any light blouse or golf, and the bottom - the same color or different, but also a light skirt. Add light tights or stockings, shoes, wings, a diadem - and you have an angel in front of you.

And finally, let's see how to make a children's angel carnival costume without much money. This option is suitable for both girls and boys angels. To make an angel costume you will need a piece of fabric (we discussed the color of the costume earlier). We measure the circumference of the child's hips and the length of the suit (to the knee, for example). Based on these two measurements, we will make a pattern. It is a rectangle, one side of which is equal to two lengths, and the other is half the circumference of the hips plus 10cm for a loose fit. Fold the resulting piece of fabric in half along the long side. We sew the side seams, leaving 20-25 cm unsewn on both sides - armholes, make a cutout for the head. We process the edges and bottom. The base of the costume is almost ready. It remains to add a colorful belt (golden or silver would be very good), all the same wings and halo. The costume is ready.

Wings for carnival costume Angel

Now consider how to make wings. If there is no time to mess around, then all this can be bought ready-made, but no one guarantees that there will be no angels at the holiday, well, very similar to each other. And the wings themselves can be made from cardboard, from a wire frame covered with tulle, and from feathers. Whatever you make wings from, they are attached the same way - with an elastic band or braid, which is fixed at the top of the wings and tied like a bolero.

The easiest way - cut out from a sheet of cardboard. Take a piece of newspaper or wallpaper and make a wing pattern. Cut out, glue with glitter glue, gold or silver (you can buy it at any stationery store), draw feathers. Attach the braid - the wings are ready.

Second way - using a wire frame. We draw the same pattern of wings on a newspaper (both wings), then we take a wire, preferably copper (it is soft, bends well) and bend along the contour of the pattern. We connect the ends of the wire together. The frame is ready. Now we take tulle and we fit the wire frame with it. You can decorate the wings with beads, beads, sequins.

Third, the most complex, - from feathers. The wire frame is sheathed on both sides with a white cloth. Sew along the edge so that the frame is sewn into the drawstring. We sew feathers to the fabric, starting from the bottom with the largest feathers, covering the ends of the previous one with the next row. We finish at the top with fluff.

head decorationangel , a diadem, can be made from an ordinary hoop by pasting it with fluff. It is possible to make a halo from a rim with horns from a thin but rigid spring or wire, to which the halo is attached. We glue the rim with white paper, and the halo with fluff. If you manage to get a headband with springs, then this will give the effect of a halo vibration when the child moves, which looks very magical!

As you can see, making an angel costume with your own hands is not so difficult for a child. If you put in enough effort, the result will surely please you and your child.

Thus, the costume can be all white, all gold, silver, or in various combinations of white, gold, silver. Instead of gold fabric, you can use a golden yellow shiny fabric (for example, satin). To attach the wings to the body in a dress, an incision is made on the back (or a part of the middle seam on the back is simply not sewn up). The length of the dress is to the ankle or "to the floor".

Wings are made of cardboard, pasted over with a shiny film or foil.

If you have small pieces, then it is better to cut them in the form of feathers and then stick them like scales, overlapping, starting from the bottom. The very bottom of the feather can not even be glued, then the surface of the wing will not be smooth, which will create an additional play of light. In the center of each pen, until the glue has dried, you can push with a blunt knife or a stick with a rounded end (brush petiole) 1 line or 2 parallel lines nearby. This will give the wings even more credibility.

Wings can also be made from foam rubber. The base will look good - from a thicker foam rubber (for example, 1-2 cm), and 2 tiers of feathers - from a thin one (for example, 0.5 cm). Foam rubber can be left white, or it can be painted with bronze (but do not use NC varnishes and thinners such as acetone and 667, etc.). Move the brush while painting along the wing. You can paint only the very edges (with a stretch - from color - to a white background). The wing attachment is the same as in the Dragonfly suit.

On foot. Beach slippers or sandals with thin straps. They should not stand out from the color scheme of the suit. Otherwise, they can be painted and pasted over with a cloth or a shiny film.

On the head. Hair needs to be curled a little, and if it is short or the hairstyle does not fit the costume at all, then you can make a wig. It can be golden-yellow, silver, gold, depending on the range and materials of which the costume is made (that is, if the wings are pasted over with a shiny film, then a wig can also be made from the same film).

Props. The trumpet for the Angel can be made from cardboard or thick paper. Paste it with a film or foil, or you can paint it with bronze paint (purchased or prepared by yourself from bronze powder and varnish).

If you are preparing a theatrical production for a Christmas story, you may need to make an angel costume. It’s easy to find a costume of a stylized, modern or Catholic angel on the net, but if you need an Orthodox angel, then it must have a long, floor-length, white or silver surplice. Such a robe, reminiscent of a dress or hoodie, is easy to make on your own.

Sleeves should be long and loose. Wings can also be made from three cardboard elements pasted over with silver paper.

On her feet, the angel can wear white sandals with thin straps, or white neutral shoes. Hair needs to be curled a little, or use a light golden wig.

How to make costume wings

The fastest and most affordable way to make small wings is to use thick white paper. Just cut the wings according to the template, make rounded cuts in them and bend them to get the effect of feathers.

Their disposable paper plates can also make wings for a little angel. We attach pieces-strips from other similar plates to the base plate, fix the straps from the ribbons, close from the inside with another plate, and we get ready-made wings. The fluted edges of the plate create a feather effect, so these wings are perfect for an angel costume.

If paper wings seem too simple to you, then you can drape them with feathers, pieces of light transparent fabric.

Wings made of translucent fabric look even more advantageous (in extreme cases, even gauze is suitable) on a wire frame, decorated with edging along the contour. Apply a pattern of feathers to the fabric with silver paint. Don't forget the straps!

If you are a patient person, then you can cut small pieces of thin cardboard in the form of feathers and stick them on a dense base from the bottom up, like scales, overlapping. It is better not to glue the bottom of the feather, but to bend it slightly to give the plumage an additional play of light. In the center of each pen, until the glue has dried, you can push a line with a blunt knife or brush petiole. This will give the wings even more credibility.
